After reading the reviews of others about this restaurant I was skeptical about the understaffed establishment. It ended up being understaffed but the waiters hustled and bustled there way through the night for us and others.

One of the worst dining experiences we have had. For an upscale restaurant (by menu prices), the entire restaurant is disorganized. It was freezing in the restaurant. We were given one excuse by the waiter and another by the owner. They seems short wait help, no wine list, poor service and most of all food was not good. Would definitely not recommend Haymount especially for the price. Many other restaurants to choose from. Very disappointed.

After having a lovely dinner at Haymount House less than 2 weeks ago, they presented us with their Restaurant Week menu as we left. It looked more appealing than some others in the area, so we decided to return. While the food was good, there were major issues this time. We were given a table with a view, but that area of the rooms was so COLD. Everyone was wearing vests, jackets, etc. They moved us, and our 1st 2 course were served in a timely fashion. Then we waited, waited & waited. Finally another server helped us to get coffee (after 1/2 hr) and then 40 min more to get more coffee and our dessert. My husband was just peeved at the service breakdown. Apparently they were short both hostess and server. Marred what could have been a delightful evening.

This restaurant needs much work. Quirky place, too large, not intimate. They put us in the back in a depressing alcove. Table cloth had melted wax on it so fork and knife stuck to it. Candle out. Server was inexperienced and not suited for a restaurant at these prices. Kept calling my daughter honey. Server got salmon entree wrong; was from Restaurant Week menu and not supposed. Salmon was corrected; came out well done and still had lentils on it from the version on Restaurant Week menu. It's plain weird; nicely suited for big parties; not for an intimate dining experience.

Haymount House called us the night before our reservation to tell us they wouldn't be able to give us good service if we came at the time of our 7:30pm reservation due to a larger party in the restaurant. We had made our resservation 3 weeks prior. They said if we want good service we need to come before 7pm or after 8pm. They told us they were doing us a favor by making this call. There were no apologies, no offers for free drinks or dessert for the trouble. William even hung up on us when we expressed our frustration and shock. We chose to dine instead at the Kittle House in Chappaqua, NY. We had excellent food and service at the Kittle House. Given how we were treated by Haymount House we will never be dining there.

We chose the restaurant initially because they participated in the Hudson Valley Restaurant week promotion. After reading some of the online comments/reviews I was a little skeptical. However, after having dinner in this wonderful venue we were pleasantly surprised by the ambience, the wait staff, and the food. All were first-class. As a result, we will most certainly be back again with friends in tow... and plan on coming for Sunday brunch as well so we can see this beautiful place in the glow of sunlight.

My boyfriend and I went here for restaurant week. Personally I felt bad for the waitstaff; I only saw two waiters working while we ate. It took a very long time for anyone to come to our table to take our order. The waiter was great he fixed the problem we had with our table. Our entree came out before our appetizers, we had to ask for bread also. We got a wine pairing with our meals. Our wine pairings after we were either halfway done or completely done with our meal. Other than the service the food was amazing.

I was slightly disappointed by this restaurant week dinner. The service was not great (they seemed understaffed) and there was no wine list. They also did not seem to be offering anything but the restaurant week menu. The appetizers and entrees were very good but the desserts were eh - not worth it in my opinion. Overall, it was good and is still a nice place but definitely not as impressive as when I went last year.

We decided to dine at Haymount House for our anniversary. We'd read various reviews of this establishment but wanted to decided for ourselves. The meal was delicious. I had the beet salad, my husband enjoyed the arugula salad - both very tasty. I enjoyed my duck breast - cooked perfectly, and my husband had a very nice steak. Our desserts were equally good - my husband enjoyed the Linzer tart with a large dollop of whipped cream, while I made short work of the Valharona flourless chocolate cake with homemade vanilla ice cream. The service was a little bit slow, which was OK, as we could enjoy a leisurely dining experience, which was fine given the occasion, and the Valharona cake was a little overpriced at $11. Overall very nice.

This is my second trip to Haymount and it was about as disappointing as the first two years ago. The service was abysmal despite the restaurant being empty on a Saturday night. Of the six of us dining, only one thought their food was decent. All the rest of us were very underwhelmed. Our food was bland and unremarkable. The wine list only had about eight choices. The owner couldn't be nicer and I feel badly to criticize the restaurant but after giving it two fair shots, and having had two very disappointing experiences, we won't be back.

We went to this restaurant once before and came away extremely impressed. Located at the top of a hill, the restaurant has sadly gone downhill since that visit. Multiple menu items did not exist, but that can be overlooked. The problem was with what was served. The beet salad was a shadow of what it was the prior time. The pork entree was simply terrible. We hardly ate a third of it. The apple crisp appeared to use an oatmeal. There were other side issues, but the bottom line is that we left most disappointed and will not return.

An otherwise fantastic experience was totally overshadowed with kitchen problems. First of all, quite a number of the items we wanted from the menu were out. The main courses took forever to come out, and there was hardly anyone in the restaurant at that time. Then, I have some food restrictions and had requested no dairy. The server wrote it all down on the order slip. But my dish came back with cheesy rice and butter sauce on the vegetables, and I could only eat the chicken, which at that point, was suspect as well, so I had to pull off all the skin. It was a long wait for a disappointing experience. The management was gracious and refunded the cost of my entree, but I'd think twice about going back.

We love your restaurant. Sadly, this time was a bit below the excellent experience usually enjoyed. One guest was gluten free, and you were out of the flour less chocolate cake. (no substitution was suggested….fruit, ice cream, sorbet.) Decaf tea was requested by 2 or 4 in our party, and our server was at a loss to assist. Finally came back holding 2 teabags of peppermint tea, again very unusual. We are coming back on the 9th, (with a gluten free guest), and am hoping that there will be a slice available, and that the decaf tea selection has been replenished. Thank you.

Requested a quiet table. Some of the singing was so loud that we could not hear each other. Service was not up to par. My husband had a coat, which he put on a chair by an adjacent table since no one offered to hang it up. I had a burger which was fine. My husband had the pork entree. It was thin with lots of breading & dry. He left most of it. Maybe we were expecting too much as this place gives the impression of elegant dining. We were so disappointed.

So I went to Haymont with a group of friends - six of us in total looking forward to some good eats. For my appetizer I order the biscuits and susage gravy. The dish had huge potential, nice flavor and good consistency, however the gravy was cold. I'm not super picky so I managed to eat the whole thing but still a little disappointed. On to the entree - I ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken was great - nice flavor, nice crunch- really nice job. However, the waffles - again cold. Not sure if it was the waitress my that was slow or just poor timing in the kitchen - but left the place unsatisfied. I might try again because of the ambiance and just to give them a chance at redemption.

The service staff was attentive and the meal was served leisurely. The view is attractive because you look out at a well-manicured lawn and over the trees, you see a little bit of the Hudson River. It's a pretty, large, old-fashioned house that looks like the White House. The food is good and the Linzer Tart is the best dessert ever. However, that TV is really loud. But, the waitress muted the sound coming from the TV for us. The music was super loud too. But, again the waitress muted the loud music for us. We had a window seat, and we enjoyed ourselves. It was Sunday over Columbus Day weekend, and we were the only two people having brunch at 11:30. A bit later, another couple showed and as we were walking out, more people were coming for brunch. Maybe, it's more busy for dinner?

With such a stunning location, view and interior space the Haymount House has untapped potential. The food "fit for foodies" was up to expectations however the staff, although courteous, was unaware of food, wine or the service thereof. The wait staff for this type of venue needs to be on the level of a Peter Kelly restaurant, knowledgeable, attentive, interested in the diners and their experience. Please Haymount House go to the next level and hire servers that are commensurate with the ambiance and food.

The food was very good, I had the beet salad and the special swordfish for an entrée. The service start off good however as time more people arrived is deteriorated. There was one waitress and one helper. The matre'd helped a little. Once we finished our dinner, the plates sat on the table for over a half an hour before someone started to clear the table. Another review mentioned they could use valet parking and I totally agree. Especially when it is dark there is insufficient lighting from the restaurant to the parking lot. Haymount House is not conducive for someone with a disability.

I must say I'm thrilled I decided to dine here. Lived in the area all my life and never even knew it was here as its tucked away in a residential neighborhood and off the beaten path. Both meal and ambiance were unbelievable! Though acoustically a bit hard, as the evening drew on it became harder to not speak in a low shout for my fiancé to hear me, the food and breathtaking views were enough to offset this. Would recommend and will most definitely return. I'm sure it would have been quieter in the section farthest from the windows as many diners decided to sit by them for the view.

We were married at Haymount in July. All of our guests had a wonderful time - the food was delicious, the service staff was friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was elegant and the views were spectacular. As a wedding gift, we received a Haymount gift certificate and had dinner there again on September 14th. We were treated like VIPs - we were welcomed by the staff and received our first drink on the house. I chose the vegetarian pasta dish and my husband had steak. We both enjoyed our meals and the service was excellent. Haymount is the perfect place for a special event or to just enjoy a night off from cooking!

Haymount House is a hidden jewel, located in a neighborhood surrounded by houses, trees, and beautiful landscape. You can see the sunset over the Hudson here, but you may miss it because you would be so interested in the food, (try the duck breast). What a wonderful old building in great shape. Very romantic as they don't pack in the tables. While the food was great, we had a server that, despite trying hard, was very, very inexperienced. From not knowing the beer or wine list (and the restaurant doesn't have a printed drink menu) to not bringing a pen to sign the credit card bill, he was incredibly nice and tried hard, but no one has ever shown him all the right things to do in a restaurant that this one wants to be. Overall, we'd go back as the food was worth it, but I hope they spend some time training their sales staff.

Young kids who don't know much about food or drinks. Seem inexperienced. Had to wait awhile for our check and it wasn't very busy. Waiter was a nice guy, a little rough around the edges though for a nicer restaurant like this.

Restauranteur David Breschell has created a wonderful atmosphere for enjoying farm to table food in this mansion tucked away on a hill in a residential neighborhood in Ossining just off Rt 9A. Perfect choice for a special dinner with your beloved, or a group of friends.

This is near our house and we hadn't tried it because it is a bit pricey. With the groupon for 2 (appetizer, 2 entrees, a dessert, and 2 glasses of wine) and two extra drinks and tip/tax we ended up spending about $110. I would definitely buy the groupon again as I think it ended up being a good value but this is too pricey for us normally. Service was friendly but not polished. The view from the back room of the sunset was gorgeous. Food was not exciting but very well executed.

setting is beautiful however no umbrellas on the outside . Man had a walker needed help with stairs to the entrance and then to the table and stairs leading to bathroom the best thing was the beautiful sunset. No valet parking. Very disappointing
