Huber's RestaurantA must try!Huber is an unique restaurant which serves great food and services with reasonable price! Highly recommended if you are in Portland! What makes Huber even more exquisite is how the bartender serves the spanish coffee at your table.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAn old favoriteHuber's is across from one of the "Cart Pods," so we try to sit inside, by the front window to enjoy the street scene, but still be sheltered from the hustle and bustle. We can carry on a quiet conversation.
Huber's is famous for their Irish Coffee fashioned at your table. It's a great show.
Cathy and I are not much for huge entrees; we usually have appetizers, and split a salad, so I can't speak knowledgeably about the meat of the menu.
We live in Washougal, Washington and get to downtown Portland only once or twice a month, and usually go for one of the great restaurants, (Alexis's, Andina, Al Amir, Jakes, Kojii's, ...)

It's historic ambiance is real. We enjoyed the place, and are planning to bring friends next time. By the way... happy hour is a bargain, large portions of hors d'oeuvres, low prices, and great drinks.
We had the turkey dinner with fresh veggies, stuffing, and mashed potatoes, gravy, and pumpkin pie. We started the meal with mixed drinks and ended it with Spanish coffee (made at the table with great fanfare). Yummy!

I never got past the turkey on the menu, but all my guests enjoyed their food; cobb salad and rib eye steak. The Spanish Coffee is reason enough to go to Huber's. The service is great and the ambiance in the Old Bar is wonderful. It does get loud there so don't plan on any intimate conversations, it's all you can do to shout over the crowd when it really gets going. The food is ok with the exception of the breads, those are simply too sweet and cakelike. I had the Turkey Pot Pie and the cornbread cap was sticky sweet although the rest was quite good once you got through the icky sweetness. I'd suggest pulling the top off and just eat the rest.
