  • "The food is good, but very basic for similarly-priced restaurants. The restaurant is always busy though and is a lunch hot-spot for local professionals and business lunches. Nothing to complain about as far as service goes, but it's not exactly stellar."

  • "We were a group of 10, 5 being from out of town, celebrating a special occasion. We all thoroughly enjoyed our entrees and our waitstaff was friendly and engaging. I would definitely return, as well as recommend to other."

  • "Great music. I loved the oldies being played. That's my kind of music. I've told many people about that. The server wasn't terribly attentive. I fries were good. I like them crispy and they were. The lunch menu could have had a bit more on it. We had looked online at the menu and both of us must have looked at the dinner and not the lunch menu, as we were looking for a good state or something along that line. We wanted to splurge a little, felt we deserved it. I ended up with a hamburger. She had an omelet. There seemed to be more breakfast offerings than lunch (I guess brunch type menu). It was a Sat. at 1:30. We were ready for a good lunch."

  • "I brought a group of seven friends who were visiting Chicago to HUB 51 for dinner this past week. All of my friends would be considered foodies. Each and every person loved the food and the ambiance of the restaurant. Thanks HUB 51 for making me look good:)"

  • "The food menu looks more interesting, but actual result was underwhelming. The service did not help: it seemed like anything outside of the 'script' made the server uncomfortable or not knowing what to do. For example, we asked for a cocktail that did not have any citrus due to a food intolerance. Admittedly that's a challenge for many, but not all drinks: the server and/or bartender had absolutely no solution for us, short of a glass of wine."

  • "went on a Thursday at 6, wide open. hour and a half wait wo res. literally 75% of the tables were empty. jumped on opentable and instantly got a res. walked right back and got seated. shenanigans. I must have watched her turn away 20 people, while they had wtf faces after seeing empty tables everywhere. waiter was similarly disinterested with my patronage. I get they want to look exclusive, but do it by actually packing the house. so long and thanks for the guac"

  • "Took a friend from out of town to Hub51 back in early January. We had cocktails, appetizers, & (our friends) burger was great. My husband and I on the other hand ordered the Ahi Tuna Burger which we thought were Tuna Steaks. We asked our server "is this tuna steaks?" she said "yes" but it was in fact chopped up tuna and formed into a burger (almost like salmon patties). When I got mine it was raw in the middle and asked the server if that is how it was suppose to be cooked and she sent it back. The manager came back with Ahi Tuna Burger that is cooked correctly and I ate a bite. When we received the bill, both Tuna Burgers were comp automatically by server/manager which is not necessary. Thank you Hub51!"

  • "Big place, energetic crowd, nice atmosphere and good food. Have tried the salads, brussel sprouts, tacos and steak and all were really good. It's a good after work location too with a large bar area separate from the dining area. Sometimes can be hard to get a table so reservations or going at slightly off-times can help."

  • "This place is definitely a 'hot spot.' for the River North crowd. It was my second time there and the staff could not have been nicer and more attentive. So, the service was terrific but the food was off the mark. Our appetizer, the three veggie in one was cold and so was my burger and fries. My date's sushi was adequate but not tasty .Because it was my girlfriend's first time a great free dessert of carrot cake was offered. I wondered if it was given because the kitchen was off the mark. While an enticing, beautiful place/setting this Sunday night time to dine was not a good choice."

  • "This was my sister and I first time here, so we didn't know what to expect. It turned out to be a great evening, with excellent service. The food was awesome, although, the menu is a bit small, but with great items to choose from. I had the turkey burger, which was very delicious, and the french fries are to die for!!! My sister had the grilled fish tacos...this was her first time and she loved them! We will be back...no reason not to try this place!"

  • "Made my reservation for Sat this past weekend. Only decided on this restaurant because it was a halfway meeting ground for my family and I to both eat. They aren't very adventurous with food and this was something I could agree on. It's only my birthday and I should get to eat what I want not them right? Anyway, arrived on time and the staff were nice and friendly. I ordered the breakfast nachos and was very disappointed. They use two plates, one to protect you from the hot plate that went in the melter to melt the cheese. Unfortunately, my dish was not hot, which is my biggest pet peeve when dining out. After 15 min we found a different server to exchange out for the skinny lemon crepes, which were better but I still wouldn't go back."

  • "The overall experience was great. We had to wait about a half hour to be seated for our 8:00 reservation but the hostess graciously apologized and brought out a free appetizer. Our server was one of the best I have ever had. Attentive, thoughtful and he treated us to a complimentary dessert. And, each of our meals was delicious. I brought out of town family and they really enjoyed themselves. The only downside is that we were seated at a high top in the bar area and it was so crowded that at times it felt like people were standing over you while eating. But, the ambiance is lively and it was a Saturday night so we weren't shocked by the crowd."

  • "Amazing experience at Hub 51! This was the first time dining here for my wife and I, and we were blown away. The food was great, the atmosphere was alive and energetic, especially given that we were there on a Thursday night. Our waiter was phenomenal and gave us some great recommendations. Finding a single spot where you can get sushi, what I refer to as a more sophisticated version of potato skins, mexican food with a twist (stacked enchiladas and filet mingon tacos) and the best carrot cake in Chicago, makes this place quite the gem in the heart of the city. I would highly recommend Hub 51 and can't wait to go back again!"

  • "Our party was running late due to traffic caused by The President dining nearby. We called to let them know we'd be late 15-20 mins and they were very accommodating, stating that our table was set and would be waiting for us. Upon arrival we were promptly shown to our table. One person in our party wasn't feeling well and we requested some bread and a light soup for her and our server returned quickly with our request. We all had the fish tacos-delicious! At the end of our meal we told out server that we needed the check promptly since we were on our way to a concert at the HOB-(2 blocks away) and she took care of us right away. Perfect place to grab a bite before seeing a show at the House Of Blues! Delicious and Convenient!"

  • "I had a table of 12 and my waitress was very unfriendly.. Seemed like she was more interested other smaller parties.. She made us give her a credit card as if we were gonna try to skip out on the tab. I've never heard of that in my life and I've eaten at plenty 5 star restaurants. Her words exactly were "I know your not gonna try to run out or anything!" .. Who says that to a table that your serving?!... I was very unhappy with the service .. Very! Food was pretty good though."

  • "Hub51 was a great spot for brunch offering a variety of traditional breakfast items with a unique twist. Everything was very tasty; our group ordered the Eggs Benedict over Hash Browns, Short Ribs Benedict, Egg White Omelet, Corn Beef Hash and Breakfast Nachos. I think everyone had a little food envy over the breakfast nachos; they were huge and looked great. Bloody Mary’s were delicious and competitively priced for a River North Location. I have been there several times for lunch and always enjoyed it, will be back again for brunch."

  • "We decided to head over to Hub 51 as it has a really great looking gluten free menu. One of the young boys in our party is gluten free and it looked good for him. We did enjoy the meal and the service was good. Only complaint is that there were no child sized portions. I am not asking soecifically for a kids menu but my 8 year old daughter had a hard time finishing a large hamburger meant for an adult. With that said - the bill for 2 adults and 6 kids was extremely large (granted we did have a few glasses of wine.) We liked the food, service, etc. but probably not the best stop of kids under 13."

  • "We have always enjoyed HUB 51 and our recent visit reinforced that we need to keep it on the list. The food is always good. The service was OK on this visit, but at times the service has been better. SHe did not do anything wrong, it just did not seem to be up to the level that we have had in the past."

  • "All good here. They have this restaurant running like a well oiled machine. I've eaten here several times and the service is always outstanding. The menu is ok, very familiar fare, nothing to unusual or different with lots of variety from burgers to sushi. Extensive drink menu as well. If you aren't on a diet the chicken nachos and carrot cake stand out as excellent. Family friendly to a degree too. I'd say anyone 12+ would have a good experience dining here."

  • "Hub 51 is one of my go-to spots for a dinner that feels more like you're "out." It's a great place to go to with friends (not really a romantic spot to go to with just a significant other and no one else). And it's especially great for a fun dinner before hitting the other bars/clubs on Hubbard. The food is exceptional, way better than usual bar food, and I highly, highly recommend the Tuna Poke and/or the fish tacos. My fiancee is a huge foodie and has expanded my view of what's good food, and I think Hub 51 is a great combination of fantastic food while still being fun and lively. It's definitely a louder, more festive atmosphere, great for groups. Enjoy!"

  • "I have been to Hub 51 numerous times and this is the first time I was disappointed with the food. I order the vegetarian tacos with portabello mushrooms. They normally give you enough mushrooms to have some with each of the four tortillas, this time I had two tiny little slivers and the rest was all peppers."

  • "The food was fantastic. Our server Noelle knew exactly what we wanted and was very charismatic. The music being played was a mix of pop and oldies, which had us bouncing during brunch. There was a group of 5 and we had a great time, frequently mentioning the great atmosphere and musical selection. I would highly recommend this place as their food is delicious and the servers aren't bad looking either ;)"

  • "I would expect more from a Lettuce Entertain You restaurant. The food arrived cold (although they did replace it) and was average at best. It was extremely loud too. There are many other good restaurants in this area. Give this one a pass."

  • "The food and atmosphere was absolutely fantastic. Took them a couple tries to get my order right, including forgetting a side and cooking the burger correctly, but other than that the food tasted delicious, the server was great, and it was a good experience. The menu is unique and has something for anybody"

  • "We were there on a Saturday night. They sat us down a little early. We were there for a couple hours, and our waitress was so sweet! We felt bad for being there for so long, but she never gave us the feeling that we needed to leave or anything. The food was also very good."

  • "This restaurant has a lot of different options to offer and they are all really good. The service is generally good and you can sit and enjoy without any pressure to leave. The only complaint I have is that the restaurant is REALLY loud so once the restaurant gets busy, it's hard to hear your dining companions."

  • "Great place to dine. I took my fiance here for a stress free birthday dinner. The chicken nachos were delicious! We had them as an appetizer and had plenty left to take home. I had the fish tacos and my fiance had the braised ribs (???). Our server brought him a slice of carrot cake with a candle which was really nice. Overall great night!!!"

  • "HUB 51 has always been one of my favorite places to eat at in downtown Chicago. The service was phenomenal and the scene was very good. We ordered a very diverse meal including sushi, tacos, and veggie burgers. All of the above were great, however the veggie burger is a little too dry and needs work on the texture. Maybe some added vegetables (mushrooms, carrots, etc.) would give it better texture."
