  • "We love this restaurant. So glad Southlake finally has an outstanding Asian/Chinese restaurant!"

  • "Dinner was great! Even got to meet Howard Wang! Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Southlake."

  • "Incredible. The bartender/waiter took charge and led us to the perfect dish mixed with perfect cocktails. Not a big crowd the night we went, making it the perfect place to hang out and talk at the bar. Run, don't walk, to Howard Wang's."

  • "Had tried to visit before and was rudely turned away due to a lack of reservation. Made a reservation this time & was immediately seated in the bar, which we thought was weird. But the service at the table was great; our waiter walked us through the menu to explain the distinctions and was very prompt with food and drinks. The food, however, was just okay. We ordered a whole bunch of different dishes to get a good sampling and found most of them to just be okay. Everything we ordered had good flavor but was overcooked - steam buns, pork belly, seafood, and even tempura were all tough. Can't say that we'll go back, especially at the price."

  • "This was our second dinner at HW's. We enjoy the variety of selections on the menu. There is always something for everyone and always something new to try. The quality of the food is outstanding and the environment is very appealing especially in the back room with its curtains. Our service was likewise very good. Our server was attentive and when we had a question about the usage of MSG, the manager came over to explain where it was used and where it wasn't. Very helpful and very transparent. Overall HW's is a cut above its competition and I'd recommend it highly. We'll certainly be back and bring more of our friends."

  • "We have been to Howard Wangs for dinner before and had an unbelievable experience with great food and pretty good service. We chose to have a Sunday lunch and it was not the same. Service was very slow and the entrees were lackluster at best. The egg rolls and chicken satays were tasty, but took a while to get. We were never offered sweetener for tea until another waitress came by. We rarely saw our waiter and it wasn't even that busy. We ordered the Singapore Rice Noodles with shrimp and it was absolutely flavorless. We have ordered it before and was much better. I'm not sure what happened this time. I plan on giving Howard's one more shot since we had such a good time our first go round."

  • "Our group of eight was totally pleased with our dining experience. The service, food and atmosphere was perfect. Only two of us had been here before, and the others were pleasantly surprised and mentioned they will definitely return."

  • "This was our first time here. We were pleasantly surprised by our experience. We made reservations on Open Table in the afternoon for later that evening. Prior to our reservation time we were contacted by the restrauant. They asked if we would like to sit on the patio that evening due to the pleasant weather. We agreed, which is unusual for us. The outside experience was great. Generally around here you are going to get a view of the parking lot, which was not the case, nor could you hear the traffic noise from 1709. The food was excellent. We left there raving about one of our new favorite restaurants."

  • "Our food was very good, but our waitress rushed our service! I was still eating as she began clearing the table, i.e. Picking up dishes reaching across my plate. The bill was brought without asking us about dessert. We had to ask for coffee. What would have been a nice evening with friends, was rushed! Again, the dishes were very good, but we do expect better service."

  • "We drove about 45 minutes to get to the place (random pick in the metroplex) and if it was closer, we'd probably go again. As it was the food was really good/interesting Asian fusion and the decor was really nice. But... I think we prefer to stick to the classics."

  • "I have been a patron of Howard Wang's since he opened his location at Northwest Highway and Midway in Dallas. The restaurant in Southlake is beautiful. The menu is more extensive than his other location and the food was very good. I'd recommend checking it out if you live in the area."

  • "Howard Wangs has always been one of my favorites for gourmet Asian food in a sophisticated, comfortable environment. The Southlake location is no exception to that. We had a wonderful dining experience."

  • "By far one of the top restaurants in Southlake that is light years ahead of other restaurants attempts at doing Chinese/Asian cuisine. Start of the night with a cocktail from the best bartender in DFW, Sage, and then order some dumplings and/or potstickers for an appetizer. My favorite is the spicy Szechwan wonton...game changer. Then branch out and try the Peking Duck, Vanilla Prawns, and my favorite, Wang's Beef Tenderloin! This place will not disappoint!"

  • "If you are looking for decent, americanized Chinese food, you've found the spot. Ingredients appear to be fresh and the recipes are the traditional favorites that we've come to love."

  • "We had a family dinner with my wife brother, mother in law and a few friends. We have dined here before and the service was always excellent for lunch so my wife was excited about celebrating her birthday here. Our group was 8 people, so a large table but not anything they couldn't have serviced adequately. We waited 15 min before our waiter approached the table and it went down hill from there. The food was outstanding and warm but there was no follow up on drinks, no appetizers served, our waiter at the end dropped off the check without asking if we wanted dessert, which we did because it was a birthday celebration. A complete disaster for her special night. It will be a long while before we go back on an evening."

  • "We couldn't help but compare HW's to PF Changs. The menu is perhaps more of what you would expect from the traditional American "Chinese" restaurant, but there are many similarities, including the prices. Much more expensive than your average Chinese - and while we loved the service and the atmosphere, the food was not quite as good as we expected. It was good, but not exceptional. Next time we want to pay a lot for Chinese, we'll go to PF Changs."

  • "Great waiter - he was attentive and quick to take care of us. The egg flower soup was delicious, and we were glad to have enough of our orange peel beef to take home, it was quite tender. Tall booths are so straight, they're uncomfortable. Desperately wanted a pillow behind my back!"

  • "Surprisingly, the food is pretty authentic Asian. The bar scene was also hopping and Sage the Bartender knows everyone! He will prepare you a drink that he chooses and it's never the same drink twice. Pretty cool place."

  • "We'd heard good comments about this restaurant. We were very disappointed. The crab was so salty, despite being a 5-pepper crab, that it was not fit to eat. The lobster appetizer was fishy. The fried duck was a bit on the dry side. The steamed buns that accompanied several of the dishes were doughy and heavier than expected. Just not what we expected or had hoped to enjoy."

  • "If you live in Texas but crave NE authentic Chinese food this is by far the best. The staff is also willing to work around any dietary needs. Howard Wangs is a must try"

  • "Booked reservation on a mid week day indicating it was for a birthday celebration and the host sat us in a half full dining room immediately next to the service hallway for the servers. Food outstanding and the service team spot on. On departure the hosts were sitting down playing on their cell phones."

  • "This was our second time to HW and we enjoyed it just as much as the first time. We celebrated my husband's daughter's birthday with her husband and 2 year old. Upon our arrive, the table was ready with high chair. We enjoyed one our fav bottles of wine. No appetizer . . . big mistake, as getting our meals took a little long for a Sunday evening than was expected; however, food was excellent! Restaurant is very child-friendly. Great waiter."

  • "Fresh ingredients are key to great taste- cocktail and dinner."

  • "Poached egg yolk was solid on one egg and perfect on the other. General lack of seasoning on both our dishes (I'm one who prefers to to receive food that doesn't require any additional seasoning, sauce, etc. I also do not typically heavily salt my dishes. My wife agreed with the lack of seasoning, but she does heavily salt dishes.) Ganache on the cookie tower "broke" (chocolate liquid was swimming in oil). All that said the food was inventive and good. Would like to try again for dinner (had brunch)."

  • "Food and service were very good. Would definitely go back. As good or better than PF Chang's, which I think would be it's closest competitor."

  • "My husband and I went for dinner New Year's Eve. Everything was delicious but you must try the eggplant stuffed pork for an appetizer. I highly recommend it! Yummy! We have moved here from East Coast where good Chinese restaurants are a dime a dozen. In Texas that is not the case. We usually travel to Dallas to get this quality. This is true and great Chinese food right in our own neighborhood. Upscale contemporary atmosphere! Definitely will become a regular here."

  • "For American Chinese food, it is great and the ingredients are fresh and they use items such as ginger and vegetables that are very fresh and do not scrimp when it matters such as in the shrimp salad with bok choy and baby corn and other great vegetables that really make this salad a winner. Howard is in the restaurant many times and the entire wait staff are very welcoming and helpful. try the Asian pear margarita - it is great!!!"

  • "We have visited this restaurant since it open this past fall. We had reservations for 7:45PM New Years Eve. Upon arrival our table was ready. We had a server and a food runner so there was service always available. We had the Chicken Lettuce Wrap. It was a little bland but requested chili sauce and it was perfect. They could put this on the table so it would be readily available. I had the crispy one half duck it was fantastic. My wife had the Grilled Ahi Tuna. They serving size was a least 8 oz if not larger. It was prepared perfectly. Could use a small dollop of Wasabi. The fried rice with 3 proteins lacked flavor, but was a good portion and had plenty of protein. Glad to have a good Chinese thats not buffet."

  • "Very good food, service, and atmosphere... comparable to PF Chang's. I recommend getting a table vs. a booth if you can - the booths are uncomfortable and you get bumped every time someone moves on the other side."

  • "Over priced food that didn't taste all that good. PF CHANGS is far better."

  • "Third time eating here. Excellent choice of menu items from unique to traditional Chinese. Excellent fish dishes. Last visit food came out too cold - meaning it was waiting too long in the kitchen for delivery. Not sure why this happened as did not experience in past two visits. Would highly recommend dining here!"

  • "Excellent Service! Our waiter was attentive, but not intrusive. The menu included a wide range of vegetarian, traditional, and even "fusion" dishes to please everyone at our table. Everything we ordered was perfectly prepared."

  • "We have been to this place four times in the last two months. We have had a good experience before. But not this time! The service was slow. The biggest disappointment was the food. Everything we ate, soup, appetizers, and entres were at best room temperature.the plates were cold to further compound the matter. While the flavors were good, the overall experience was not!"

  • "Lots of variety on the menu. Everything was flavorful and the servings were ample. Definitely not the typical oily Chinese food. Our server, Joey, was friendly and attentive. One warning: avoid the booths in the middle of the room. There is no padding in the back so if the guests behind you are active, you will feel every bump, push, rock, etc."

  • "This was our first but definitely not our last dining here! Both the food and service were great and timely. We were impressed by bothe the decor and the restaurant layout. If you haven't tried it yet you are missing a good dining experience."
