About this restaurant

  • Innovative
  • Romantic
  • Good for special occasions
This neighborhood restaurant atop Queen Anne is cozy and intimate. As a nod to the restaurant’s literary namesake, Chef David Glass repeatedly impresses by doing so much from this tiny kitchen. The continually changing, Italian-inspired menu focuses on smaller plates and fresh, daily-made pastas, typically enjoyed family style in the warm, wood-clad dining room. Stop by the Queen Anne Farmer's Market before dinner, and you might see Chef Glass gathering ingredients for that night's menu. Have dinner at the bar and sip Prosecco while watching the kitchen create.

Amazing time with my wife for our anniversary. We ordered too much food as always and that made for a great bite to eat for lunch the next day. Great food, great drinks and we only wished that we had room for desert.

Delicious food and great atmosphere! I would highly recommend this restaurant. Great for a date night or a night out with friends. Brussel sprouts are the best!

Really great experience. The staff was very flexible around dietary restrictions and fun to chat with. It was much noisier than expected, so it’s not exactly the best date spot, but the food is so good it makes up for it. I brought my boyfriend for his birthday. We got the gnocchi and were blown away by the amazing meat sauce that came with it. Definitely recommend. Their roasted squash is a delight. It’s warm and cozy enough to feel like a fall dish but the sauce brought out a lighter side. Finally, their sherbet was amazing. A larger dessert portion than we were expecting, so we unfortunately couldn’t finish it. A great place for an intimate celebration of around 6 or fewer.

The dishes were simply excellent and delicious. The ambience and fun and friendly. Even though we were given a water bottle at the table, they were quick to keep our glasses full. The bread is a must.

Highly recommend sitting at the bar - it’s fun to watch them make cocktails and half the kitchen is visible! The menu changes often but seasonally (late fall/winter) they feature a bolognese - each year is different and this 2017/18 one is TO. DIE. FOR. It started with spaghetti and now is being served with gnocchi. Life changing bolognese! Good variety of apps and delicious pasta! Great cocktails! Only wish they had a little better wines by the glass (I get the same one every time). We are slowly becoming regulars here - no complaints! PS the bread and butter is worth every calorie!

I had reservations for NYE. There was a fixed menu, which was posted online. The menu looked great, and I was excited for my fist meal at How to Cook a Wolf. The space is small and cozy. The staff were friendly enough. The food was terrible. The first course was 5-6 small plates for the table. Nothing stood out - very bland. The second course was pasta. The flavor was good but the pasta was so undercooked - it was basically raw. For the main course we had black cod and braised short rib. The cod was rubbery and the short rib was dry and tough (don't even get me started with the weird steamed then fried potatoes - inedible). For desert, I had a chocolate torte - I can confirm it was chocolate but it was otherwise unremarkable. As a heads up, gratuity is included at 20%. I would be totally fine with this amount, but it was added to the bill before taxes - so I was taxed on my gratuity as well as my food. This did not sit well with me. I'm not sure whether this was an off night or the cook was just really bored making the same dishes for everyone, but this was a terrible dining experience. For $250 for two people, I expected much more. With so much good food in Seattle, I'm shocked this restaurant is still here. I will not return.
