House of Prime RibWowWhat an experience!
Great quality and service. Will go again when in San Francisco.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMRomanticWell, if you're wife is a size 22, this is the place to take her for Mother's Day. The prime rib is impeccably cooked to order - so tender you won't belief it yet flavourful. The sides are all great as is the excellent starter salad. Dessert is impossible. Order the Henry VIII cut so you might have extra to take home - it is a relatively cheap way to get some nice leftovers.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBest of EverythingOnly come here if you are wanting Prime Rib. They also have the best salad, creamed spinach and Yorkshire pudding. I have never been anywhere in 50 years that has this combination and it is the best!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMYuuum! My second time here and it was as delicious as the first time! I love coming here! It's my husbands favorite restaurant too. The meat is so good, and I love the cream spinach! The staff is sweet and attentive. By far one of the bet restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area! Loooove house of prime rib!!!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMTwo Thumbs UpSaw the restaurant featured on Anthony Bordain. We were not disappointed. The food was simple and delicious. The service was also very good. Made us feel at home even though it was definitely a tourist spot.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Prime Rib EverThis was the best prime rib I've ever had and my whole family agrees. Better than Broadway Prime, which is an offshoot of the original HOPR.
The reason I couldn't give 5 stars for the food was only because the spinach was too salty. Other than that, excellent meal, excellent service, and prime rib I will never forget.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Prime RibWaited years and years to make it to the restaurant. Didn't think reservations would be difficult but only time that came up was 4:00PM. By the time we left at 5:30PM, the restaurant was maxed out and I'm sure it was like that the rest of the evening.
Simply menu, but the Ambience and Food made it a wonderful experience.
Will be heading back on our next visit to the city.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA "Prime" experienceMy son and nephew took my sister and I here for early Mother's Day celebration. It was so much fun, particularly because our server was so pleasant. She joked with us and explained all about the menu and food we would be getting. I certainly would recommend the restaurant to people to go to at least once a year.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat foodThe House of Prime was very good and we'd would recommend it, though not sure it's in the outstanding category. The cost actually came in lower than we would have expected, given the hype put on this restaurant. Wait staff was fine. Salad was yummy (huge though), meat was excellent but creamed spinach - whew - way too salty. We did see some tables getting corn bread and sour dough, though we just received the sour dough. Even so, It all came across as almost being WAY too much food. That's part of its M.O. we guess.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMStill a great place for indulgingWe were celebrating my fiancé’s birthday and the staff was absolutely wonderful! They were very attentive without being intrusive and saw to all our needs, including making his desert a birthday treat with a candle and singing. The food was as good as I remembered, not having been there for over 20 years. Enough salad to be a small meal in itself, roast beef so tender (mine was medium rare) that I could cut it with my fork, 3 varieties of horseradish, creamed spinach and mashed potatoes ~ it's true, you will not leave hungry! I would have recommended as a romantic place, but the only drawback (to me) was that they were playing contemporary pop music in the background. I would have preferred something more classical.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMDad's 93rd BDayWe have always come here for special occasions not only for the best prime rib in the Bay Area, but for the menu not being a la carte, but with delicious salad, and spinach, and potato and Yorkshire pudding. The drinks are generously poured and the service is the best!! They put on a nice show if it's someone's first time! Yum! If you love prime rib, you HAVE to experience the place! Dad is 93 and daughter 21, plus Mother's Day. We had a blast! Giant's players tend to frequent the place too much to my daughter's delight! It's worth the price!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMLove my Prime Rib!!!As a sport fan, it was nice to watch the Warriors game with a couple of cocktail drinks at the lounge before we were seated. As always, we enjoyed the King Henry cut - thick, juicy, tender chunk of superior meat! The yorkshire pudding was tasty and it goes so well with my steak. I didn't care for the spinach. It's too mushy. Fresh veggies will be great! The salad is too salty. They should leave the option to the customer if they want salt added to their salad. We liked our waitress! Friendly and fun!!!!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMCelebrationWe come at least once a year. Each time is an adventure. Service was great, even after we spilled the wine. We were told to take our time and enjoy. Every table was obviously enjoying them selves. We were there to celebrate our son's completion of his 1st year in college and pre-Mothers day. See ya soon.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMmeatWow...if you like beef, prime to to be exact..then this place is must. Service so on point ,everyone feels like vip status. Try the house red, it surprisingly pleasant.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMSan Francisco TripIf you want Prime Rib this is the place to go in San Francisco.
We had a great meal and great service. It was a bit on the pricey side(avg of $40) but it did come with
alot of extras. Great tasting rib...cooked nicely definitely a place id fo to again.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMHouse of Prime Rib does it rightHouse of Prime Rib never loses focus on the one thing it sets out to do: serve (as in great service) an excellent prime rib meal that is the same, predictably top experience every time. In my several visits over a couple of decades, the place has been mobbed each time, and so my only criticism--it's always so loud that you have to shout, so you just concentrate on the great tastes and leave conversation for later. And actually, I have no problem with just eating, the beef and accompaniments are that good.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThe House of Prime RibThe House of Prime Rib is one of the great restaurants in San Francisco. The staff were very attentive, attending to our every need all the way through our dinner. The food was cooked to perfection and the individual flavors, while distinct, blended together to make a superb meal.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMDid not disappointMy wife and I dined here on our first night in San Francisco. The wine list was impressive and vast. Service was superb. Bake potato and salads were prepared table side, which adds to the experience. And for the entree. Hands down best prime rib I've ever had. This is a must go for any first timers in San Francisco. Although a popular tourist spot, the food and experience are well worth the trip.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and top notch serviceThe food was great and our server was knowledgeable, accommodating, and entertaining. Would go back for a special occasion and recommend to others.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOh.My.Goodness.I would drive the 10 hours from my house to SF just to eat here. The menu is simple: only prime rib. Choose your cut, how cooked do you like it, and your two sides, they top it off with a piece of custard bread. They add a salad to the beginning that is whole show in it's making. It was delicious for being an iceberg salad. Absolutely delicious. Next time I would order the corn instead of the spinach. I also read that you could have your "dessert slice" but I was never offered it. I did have creme brule and it was a perfect finishing touch to our bottle of Malbec. We had dinner reservations and we showed up right on time and we were seated right away. Fancy enough and deliciously amazing.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways GreatAs always, the whole experience is great. This trip was my fourth in about 1 year and half and the service never changes. I took my mother and sisters for an early Mothers Day dinner and they are still raving three days later.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMYumMy husband and I went to house of prime rib at 4pm on a Saturday. This place was packed, made reservations a month in advance. Salad was fantastic, the prime rib was fork tender. Service was great!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMStill the same after all these yearI found the House of Prime Rib to be just as great as when I ate there as a little girl! Melt in your mouth yummie!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was awesomeIt was my parents 32 anniversary, my mother loves meat, I thought it would be the best place for her. She couldn't believe her eyes when she saw the cart with the prime ribs... she was in heaven. It may be pricey for some people but i think that its a fair price for the quality and quantity of food. we would defiantly go back!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service wereThe food and service were outstanding. My only qualm was that we were seated in a booth and the top of the booth was very dusty. Other than that everything was wonderful. Nice ambience. Very energetic. Delicious food. I will definitely return.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's expensive, but it's worthyDelicious steak prepared by Carlos. Impeccable service from Trevor. Gus special atention from Gus. Excelent wine list. A must do in SFO.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best prime rib in town. Yummy!I love this place! I've been coming her for over to years now and the food is consistently good every time I come here. I suppose that's why I enjoy this place solo much. It's simply great meat. The menu only has a few different cuts of prime rib or salmon. The staff is great always welcoming and attentive especially the older gentleman who comes around to see how your meal was.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome Prime RibAnother awesome Prime Rib dinner!! Great Wait Staff, friendly and professional. We love watching them make the salad at the table. The entire meal is fabulous. And don't skip dessert! We will be back!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service and theExcellent service and the food was better then I remembered!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMLOVE House of Prime Rib!We love, love, love House of Prime Rib! The food and service never disappoints and we are looking forward to our next visit.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've been here many timesWe've been here many times and have never been disappointed. Great spot if you love a big hunk of meat, fantastic (but limited)side dishes and great wine. We'll be back!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMI love that the menu is simple.I love that the menu is simple. You only need to select how much Prime Rib you want, not choose from a myriad of options. The fish option was also delicious. This has become our new 'must do' when we are in San Francisco.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMLove HHouse of Prime Rib is one of our favorite restaurants anywhere. It's not cutting edge cuisine. But it is master class prime rib with all the yummy accompaniments one could desire but not dare eat in one meal at at home due to the sheer overindulgence of it all. The service is outstanding. The chef flexible enough to offer more health conscious guests sautéed vegetables instead of creamed. Love it, love it, love it.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMClassy, San Francisco serviceClassy, San Francisco service and ambiance. Prime Rib is the specialty, and they do it very well. Special place for a special dinner or just an evening of good company and delicious food.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was an excellent experience. This was an excellent experience. My wife and I enjoyed the entire meal, and the show our waiter Monelo gave. His presentation was very entertaining. The food was outstanding!!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMSteak night rocked by HPRHad a great Birthday Dinner there. Everything about the meal was great, found a great bottle of wine (Silver Oak 2008) on their list and it paired magnificently with my King Henry Cut Steak (Rare). Everyone in my party agreed the meat was outstanding.
The waiter was a little overwhelmed with his section and couldn't be as attentive as we'd hoped but the place was jumping on a Sunday night.
Other steak houses also do great steaks but no one does Prime Rib like HPR.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMHoPR never disappoints. TheHoPR never disappoints. The prime rib is always quite tasty and prepared to exact specifications, the portions are quite large, and the service is always, always first rate. It has become one of our favorite celebration spots and a tradition for family get-togethers.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWow, what a beautiful experience.Wow, what a beautiful experience. Our waiter (Steve) was very friendly and catered to our every needs. A shout out to the chef Toni who prepared the Prime Rib Delious. This was our first time visiting everything was surpior. I would definitely be coming back and would recommend to all. Meal pricing was good but bar price was a little high. Went to celebrate my birthday and is was an experience to remeber. This is definitely a five star resturant.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a group of 5 with aWe had a group of 5 with a 4pm reservation. The bar opened at 3:30pm which was perfect for us. We were seated on time, our server David was fun and awesome. The food was excellent!! They have several different cuts of prime rib and the best part, everything comes with the meal...salad, veggie and potato. (The high end steak houses charge extra for everything, even water.) I would recommend this place to all prime rib lovers, it was the best! Their staff is very attentive and accomodating too. LOVED IT!!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMI took my wife to the HouseI took my wife to the House Of Prime Rib for her birthday. She had never been there before. The food was FANTASTIC!!!! They do a great job in this segment and provide a prime rib that is among the best we have had.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meal.Always our first stop when we are in San Francisco.
Fantastic prime rib carved at the table.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMNice, not StuffyHouse of Prime Rib is charming and a true San Francisco icon. It's great for groups and is a great place to go if you're looking for something special, but not intimidating or stuffy. Their service is wonderful and we had a lot of fun chatting with our waiter.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best place to get a consistentlThe best place to get a consistently good prime rib dinner.
The salad is not the best but if you have them use about 50% less dressing it is much better.
Ordering steamed spinach is also a good alternative (you have to ask - it is not one of the offerings).4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Prime Rib in CaliforniaIf you love prime rib there is no other place better than House of Prime Rib. That is the best meat I've ever had. Huge portions. My husband was in heaven. My only complaint is the noise level in the front dining room. I wouldn't want to sit in there again even though our Server was fabulous. You ask for something and it's right there within a minute. No kidding. Loved, loved, loved it will be back as soon as I can.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had the best dinner ever!We had the best dinner ever! The House of Prime Rib is exactly what it advertises itself to be and we were absolutely not disappointed. The menu is limited so if you don't like Prime Rib don't go. The prime rib was carved directly at our table and the carver selected the perfect cut, it was delicious and prices were great. They even offered seconds. The server, Jonathan was probably the best waiter we've ever experienced, he was always around but never annoying, he had all the information we needed and recommended the best dessert! I will always make the House of Prime Rib a stop when in SFO, what a local treasure.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMmedium cut was medium andmedium cut was medium and the medium rare cut was medium rare. the cream of spinach was too salty, baked potato was just right and lot of food. we had a very good dinner and would return.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent prime rib, one dinerExcellent prime rib, one diner ordered the fish and she loved it. I recommend this restaurant to any prime rib lover.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMTHE FOOD WAS WONDERFUL ASTHE FOOD WAS WONDERFUL AS ALWAYS, THERE IS NOT A BETTER RESTAURANT FOR PRIME RIB IN THE BAY AREA. WE WERE A PARTY OF FOUR CELEBRATING TWO BIRTHDAYS AND WE WERE WELL TAKEN CARE OF!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMBest prime rib everHouse of prime rib was again a great hit. The salad was outstanding, the sides were great, and of course the prime rib was out of this world. The restaurant was a bit warm but atmosphere was good. The one hiccup was the waiter forgot to bring out our Berkshire pudding. When we asked him he adamantly insisted that he did. We were so full it did not matter but we had pictures of our plates and there was none. Maybe next time I will not eat so much that I give myself a protein coma and save space for Berkshire pudding. Yummy overall4/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
