House of Japan - PolarisThis was my daughters 17thThis was my daughters 17th birthday... she did not want a birthday party, however she did want to have a birthday celebration dinner at House of Japan. Our experience was wonderful, she has a little 5 year old brother who loved watching them cook in from of him... our waiter was excellent! Myself being a mother in which enjoys embarassing my daughter (in a humorous manner) in public every chance I get, I do! The waiter was not offended however gave it back to me! Made for a very funny and perfect time for our company (as did the cook). The cook put on a fine show! We were placed in the back which was perfect our private room, we expected many more people however plans change, they still placed us back there and did not rush us. We received an email that our reservation for 11:30 was booked. We got to House of Japan and they said they had no record of our reservation and since it was Mother's Day, it would be very difficult to seat the four of us. I showed them our email confirming our reservation and they said they had no record in their database and we need to speak with someone at opentable.com.

I've tried many hibachi restaurants closer to where I live, but none compares to House of Japan. The house dressing and egg yolk sauce are incomparable and service is always quick and spot-on. I would LOVE to see one open on the east side!! The only suggestion I have is if someone makes a reservation for a party of 15, they should be seated within 10-15 minutes MAX after their reservation time, not 35 minutes. Other than that, it was a great time as always!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were there for my sonsWe were there for my sons 11th birthday. We had a party of 15, Half adults half children. Everyone had a spectacular time. We will most certainly come back. The only downside that I had was the way our seating was. We had made reservations online the day prior too. Our 2 tables were horizontal from each other and we would have rather had them vertical from each other. That way it would have been like one big table with our 2 Chefs in the middle. We would have enjoyed each other better. The way it was set up we could not see anything from the table of our extended party.
Overall we had a wonderful time and will definitely return.

Normally always for a special occasion. The food is amazing. I also love to get the egg yolk sauce on top of the scallops, it tastes great, plus the scallops are fixed just right. They do not have yum yum sauce but the egg yolk sauce is way better. I love it. The service is great, everyone is very attentive to your needs. Going in a group is great, and very much fun.
