  • "We eat here a lot. This is our favorite restaurant by far. The chefs prepare your food at the table and create a fun environment. They are always friendly and have excellent service. And the food, very high-quality, prepared perfect every time, and you get large portions. We went on Easter with our children this time and their interaction with the kids made for a great time for everyone at the table."

  • "Very entertaining for kid too! We have dined her quite a few times....very good service."

  • "The chefs are entertaining so there is no ho hum while you wait for dinner. We had the strip steak and shrimp. Although the steak is not cooked exactly as you order it, close is enough. Food is yummy from the simple soup and salad through the main course. SPOILER ALERT: Nice birthday perks! Drum beat procession to your table with singing and a boat shaped pineapple wedge complete with candle! I wouldn't call the place incredibly romantic but a good place for a fun date. FYI firey display may not be suitable for the fearful child or the faint of heart. Two thumbs up! MUST GO!"

  • "I love a good Japanese restaurant and this place fits the bill. It is definitely pricey but no different than any other Japanese steakhouse. I used to only go to Shi Chi but this is now my new spot!"

  • "it was our first anniversary and we had a great time. the food was very good and it was fun and entertaining watching the food being grilled."

  • "Well I suppose it is unfair to say the best seeing as I've not been to all of them but I'm not sure you can get better for the price. This place provides the text-book Japanese Steakhouse experience so you can rely on it to deliver if that happens to be what you're craving. Food is always very high quality and they continually implement new elements into the show."

  • "Overall it was a good time. The place was overcrowded and even with a reservation we were seated 10 minutes late The chef did a nice job and the food was good but not great The place was very noisy making it hard to hear anyone who was not sitting next to you"

  • "We had 4 children in our group. We have been there several times to eat, but this time was different. Gon was our chef and went above and beyond to keep the kids laughing and having a god time! Thanks Gon for the great experience and good food!"

  • "We frequent this place for birthday dinners, but this time was extra good. The sushi was better than expected, the scallops were perfectly done, and the service was outstanding. Thanks for making my daughter's 19th birthday a big hit!"

  • "Reservations at 630. Did not get seated until 700. Did not leave until 820. If I make a reservation I expect that reservation time. Very disappointing"

  • "We made a reservation at 1:30 for 5 people. We sat at a table with a party of 2 and a party of 3 with a highchair. The table that seated 8 normally. Two of us complain we were seated on top of each other and were told basically take it or leave it. Love the food but for the price you pay not worth the seating. Staff was nice except manager. Out for the money. Not sure why they take reservations."

  • "It was good! I love the food there! Especially for the price (at lunch) for my child and I, we got the imperial feast for 2 which came with drinks, a salad, and sherbert dessert for $28.00! I only wish the cook would have been more friendly, but he did prepare our food well and three a few tricks in where he could with the eggs. Overall, it was great and we even had enough food to bring home! love this place and the egg yolk sauce!!!! YUMMMMM!"

  • "We've eaten at this location many times, and went this time to celebrate my husband's birthday - which was wonderful. The thing that stood out to me this time was the chef. My daughter is 17 months old (her first visit where she was able to enjoy the big-people food) and I was so impressed that he took the time to cut up her food into more bite-size-for-her pieces. I never would have even thought to ask for that and he just did it. So sweet and it is the small things that make an experience special. Thanks to him for helping us have another great experience!"

  • "The food here is beyond description. I got the Filet and Scallops, and they melted in my mouth! You start with mushroom soup and salad with Japanese dressing, both delicious. You then get a little shrimp, zucchini and mushrooms, fried or white rice (get fried), bean sprouts, and your main food. There is so much, it looked like I hadn't eaten anything! The show from your chef is always entertaining. I would never be able to do half the things these guys do! I am super looking forward to my next visit. With a drink and tip, my total was well under $50. For all the food you get and the quality, not to mention the show, it is MORE than worth it. If you want Hibachi, come here. It is the best I have had in and around Columbus!"

  • "Great show while having dinner. Although they could offer more kid friendly food, they do have kids meals and the kids love watching the food be prepared. The only thing was that we requested on the reservation that our 9 year old was there for his birthday dinner and they didn't even acknowledge it. I would suggest making them aware when you arrive of any special needs."

  • "This is my kids favorite bday spot. Pricey, so we Only come for special occasions. Drink service has gotten better over the years. Am hoping to Reduce the frequency to every couple of bdays since my kids are getting used to the tricks, etc. Good food and kids portions. Always enough for left overs."

  • "We made reservations through Open Table and arrived 5 minutes prior to our seating time. We were then told, we would have to wait another 20-30 minutes, which turned into 35-40 minutes. The servers were very friendly and working as hard as they could. The food was just so-so. Don't really think we have a reason to return to House of Japan."

  • "It is safe to say this is the best Japanese steakhouse in the Columbus area. However, it is definately not a lunch spot. We normally go for dinner but decided to go for a late lunch. Our server (who we maybe saw twice) was not friendly at all and when we tried to explain we wanted a full order of shrimp and not the appetizer, she completely deleted our order. It wasn't crowded so I didn't understand why she never came back to our table. The food was still good however, I would not go back again for lunch, I'd rather just wait for dinner and get better service."

  • "I took my son and mother in law out for their birthdays and they had a nice time. We each had different dishes and shared. Our chef/cook was great. He was very interactive with the table. We love coming to this location because the staff is the same and they remember you. I can't say enough nice things about our experience."

  • "I have found in my several trips to House of Japan that the experience is tied directly to how energetic the hibachi chef is and the show that he puts on. I've never had bad food - just lackluster experiences. Some times the chefs go out of their way to put on a great show and sometimes it's like they are going through the motions."

  • "Been there many times. Always the best food. Our reservation was for 5:30, but we weren't all there until 5:45 and they held the reservation for us."

  • "I thought that the food was very good. Our chef was very nice and entertaining and our host was very nice as well. I will definitely be back soon."

  • "Food and entertainment was great....it's the bill that was shocking to see on my statement of $1762.58. That was not on the receipt. I think we bought for everyone in the restaurant. Thing that surprised me was when I called them the lady said, "It's okay. she made mistake. Money be back in account 10-15 days...others called too.""

  • "Went here for my son's 16th birthday, his choice. My husband wasn't looking forward to it as it'd not his kind of place. We all had a great time. Food was excellent and even though you sit at communal tables it turned out great."

  • "It was my birthday dinner with the family. The japanese steakhouse was not my first choice, but it's a solid choice. The super bowl had this place mostly empty. Even with a reservation seating can be slow but we were seated quickly. The service was slower than expected and then when a second group was seated at our table after we'd been served salads we waited for them to catch up. The food was expectedly excellent and the show was acceptable. Good time."
