Diner Reviews
  • "We had a lovely lunch here and will definitely return!"

  • "Everyone in our party enjoyed fresh fish, whether grilled with assorted sauces, blackened or in fish and chips. All the fish was perfectly prepared. Portions were smaller but ideal for mid-day dining. And the side dishes were excellent. The place was a bit noisy but our waiter was very good and the food did not disappoint. If you enjoy fresh fish, this restaurant is a good choice."

  • "We arrived with a reservation and were sat in a beautiful little corner with a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean. Our server came over and greeted us with a big warm smile. We order the Ahi burger and the Halibut, both were tasty. We sat next to some young ones aside from that the noise level this place is a gem. We would come back not on a Saturday night but maybe during the midweek. I felt it was a good find and will recommend it to my friends. The view was killer and worth the little discomfortable."

  • "We came to HBFICB with our three adult kids and future son-in-law for our last night in OC. We were a little late for reservation but they called it was all good! Enjoyed our meal--fish, burgers, lobster mac and cheese with great wine and beer choices. Loved sunset by window and had great attention by server. Only drawback is that noise level is little high -- but ambiance of place is fun! Thanks for a great last night in California with great food and drinks for my family!"

  • "Great food and beer! Order the lobster roll and it was smaller than I remember from last time. Otherwise, still a solid place."

  • "The food and service are outstanding. The blackened red snapper is especially good."

  • "We looked the fresh raw oysters on the happy hour special, as well as the Ahi Poke and Cerviche. I also like the Spicy Seafood Soup. The view of the ocean was terrific and the service very good. We ate there two nights during a week long visit to Laguna.."

  • "We went to Big Fish and Ice Cold beer to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. We lucked out because it was "Taco Tuesday", and everyone in the family found a great choice on the menu. The beer selection was amazing and made for some delicious foodie trades and tastes. Our server, Frank, was extremely attentive and helpful as we tried to decide among all the choices for dessert. We will return!"

  • "We've dined here numerous times with no complaints. Unfortunately, our last time there was frustrating. We waited 30 minutes to be seated with a reservation, waited another 15 minutes to see our waiter, 20 minutes for our drinks and 30 minutes for our order. This was torture with 2 kids under 5. Hoping it was just a fluke....."

  • "We booked this place based on reviews and their menu for our Valentine's day dinner. We drove all the way from LA to find some dirty noisy place with some limited package dinner for 2 - surprise! There was no regular menu! Food offered was very primitive an limited. We were sited and the whole place looked like some really dirty fast food. I was almost crying. For 10 minutes nobody even approached out table. Thank God there was a nice Italian restaurant on the first floor of the plaza and that's were we had our dinner. I am really disappointed with BIG FISH. Needless to say - i will never go over there again. Ever! Do not recommend. This kind of restaurant is way below the OPEN TABLE' standards."

  • "We checked out House of Big Fish with an out-of-town guest and we all liked it. The menu has great seafood choices from lobster rolls and chowder, to fresh ahi and raw choices. We shared the chowder-covered fries as an appetizer and loved them. We were all happy with our entree choices and were impressed at the quality for the price. Meanwhile, the restaurant is comfortable and has nice views across PCH. Our only (little) complaints are that it was noisy and the televisions above the bar are an unnecessary distraction. Otherwise, we liked it very much and can't wait to go back to try more of the menu!"

  • "The food was great! Fresh and lots of healthy choices!! Good for a group or with kids too. Very casual environment. A little noisy. B"

  • "Pretty entry but full room is rather strange and cold layout with Strong acoustics so would avoid for romantic dates and dinner with anyone over 70. My brother commented this was possibly the loudest place he'd been to in a long time. Food was all very good and portions very edible and well sized. Had a bit of an issue with timing on appetizers and entrees as oysters arrived at same time as entrees. Waiter was very apologetic and excellent otherwise. We would go back but maybe off hours to chill by bar . Happy hour options and prices looked like good option."

  • "We ad the best lunch! We had never been here before and our waiter, Patrick made some recommendations and everything we ate was amazing! You have to try the lobster fondue!"

  • "We had been to this restaurant several times, for lunch, and it was always terrific. They have a great view and the portion sizes are perfect. The beers are good and cold and plentiful. The noise however was impossible. I have heard that people think they are having more fun when it is noisy but this was rediculous. We will never return to this place for dinner. Go for lunch or an afternoon snack!"

  • "This was the second time in a month we visited with foreign visitors. We like coming here as your portions are much smaller so we can have 3 courses without leaving most of it behind. Your fish of the day was Sword Fish and Mahi Mahi and it was great. My wife loves your Ceviche and the Ley Lime pie really finishes it off well. You also have a great selection of beers. Please don't stop your format as we will keep coming back"

  • "First time here and went to the Pageant after. This is a great place for: good food, good service and nice view. A little energetic but what the heck, your here to have fun so go with it. The Fish & Chips and the Shrimp Pasta are terrific."
