In the city that never sleeps, time is of the essence…The Hourglass Tavern is housed in a renovated nineteenth-century brownstone on New York's famed restaurant row. In the beginning, 30 years ago at each table was a working hourglass: your dinner would take only the time it took for the sand to
… run down, and theatergoers wouldn't miss the curtain going up.
Today, the Tavern has three intimate floors, each with its own charming personality. The hourglasses are mostly wall decoration, but during pre-theatre if you've got tickets to a Broadway show, they are still used to assure that we'll get you there on time!
In addition to our à la carte standards and eclectic daily specials, the Hourglass offers several prix-fixe menus.
The Hourglass's barroom "Bettibar" is located on the second floor, offering a gamut of affordable wines from around the world, an array of local and imported beer. The 3rd floor is available for dinner service or for booking private events.
