About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Great for brunch
  • Good for special occasions
The Hotel Fauchere features three dining venues. Our elegantly-appointed Delmonico Room with its vintage Hudson River School paintings, piano and light-filled sunroom, our Bar Louis, with cozy booths, a contemporary vibe and the famous gigantic photograph of Andy Warhol and John Lennon behind the bar and our heated front porch with awnings and wind break curtains . Please note venue preference, if you have one, and we will accommodate as we are able (not all venues are open at all times). The restaurant pays homage to our founder, Louis Fauchere, who began working as a master chef at Delmonico's in New York City in 1848. He opened the Fauchere in 1852 and it was run by his descendants for 124 years. We look forward to welcoming you.

To start, I almost never leave a bad review because I am a sole proprietor and sensitive to business prosperity. However, some aspects of the experience were potentially a health hazard. Service was slow and the dishes all arrived at different times with substantial time in between. The steak tartare came out with a distinct brown coloration throughout meaning it was NOT fresh and unsure how long ago it was made and/or sat out!!! They also ran out of a fish dish and hamburger?! Who runs out of hamburger. We were so hopeful and so incredibly disappointed.

No hostess (on a Friday night); so waited quite a while with another couple to get seated as staff seemed to be missing in action. Out of 2 items my husband & I wanted to order. Entrees (duck & chicken) had a very heavy handed style; brown sauce seemed to prevail. Soup that I ordered for my appetizer was good, a corn soup of sorts with crumbled cornbread, bacon & blue cheese. The correct fork didn’t come with the escargot so it was difficult to get the snails out. Bread that came with this would have been better if toasted. Wanted to charge dinner to room (as staying there). Staff said didn’t know how.

Was looking forward to their sushi pizza for Father's Day dinner. We've been going for years but very disappointed this time. It tasted stale and our other dishes were not up to par. Appreciated that the waitress took it off the bill. Not sure I'll be coming back

My salad Nicoise had warm overdone sliced tuna steak, the eggs, green beans and small potatoes were refrigerator cold. The greens were nice and the dressing okay, but it was far from an entree size salad. My husband’s duck was seriously overcooked.

We were the only customers that attended this dinner. It was very loud Classical music, a violinist, the acoustics of the room made it noisy not pleasant. The food was nothing exciting. The salad was pretty plain, dressing was weak and bland. The Soup was very good - a surprising combination. The steak was chewy with a very salty sauce. The Monk fish was very tasty and the sauce complimented it very well. The duck was over cooked and the cherry sauce on its own would have been great, but with the duck, not so much! The Brie with apple butter delicious! It should have been in the beginning not the end, and the tart was terrible - the crust was dry like flour and water and the raspberry filling was like someone mashed the berries and threw it together in that crust - the seeds should have been removed and a little sugar would have been nice. Out of the 7 courses, I would say 3 were very good and the other 4 were a fail. For $125.00. We will not be returning.

Good food in a very nicely appointed space being served by competent and friendly staff. Probably the best option in Milford

We had the burgers, which were excellent! We sat in Bob's section near the bar, and he was awesome as usual! Wouldn't be the same without him!

IThe food was OK but it was not a great experience for the service. First the waittess dropped the wine glass on my son whose birthday we gatheted to celebrate. The wine got spilled over his clothes. 5 min later the same waitress dropped the wine glass and spilled another glass of wine on another guest at the nearing table. To pour the water in our glasses the waitress grabbed each glass from the table in her hands to fill it in and then put it back on the table. Not a good thing to do at the Michelin mentioned restaurants. Waiting for the plates changes after we finished appetizers took about 30 min. All that time we were sitting in front of empty finished plates. At the end I just asked the waitress to please pick up the dirty plates. Then they brought us a wrong order for the main course. They changed it and brought in another order. When I asked to reconfirm if this was the halibut fish, a waiter just bluntly said he did not know. He went back to check. At the end they served a creme brulee desert with a fork. No comments here. Overall I would not come back to this place again unless the service is fixed.

Enjoyed Mothers Day’s brunch. The food was excellent and plentiful. The ambiance was terrific. I am so glad there is plans to open the Delmonico room as an upscale dining experience in Milford. I remember when we dined at the Delmonico in the past for family special occasions. It was a delightful experience . The food was exceptional. Looking forward to this again.
