No water view, but who needs it with food and service this good!"

  • "We stopped in at the recommendation of our realtor and it was fabulous - far exceeded our expectations! Menu offered nice variety at good prices. I got the grilled fish (mahi) tacos and my husband had the calamari - both were fresh and delicious. Woman next to us got crab cake sandwich that made me wish I had gotten the same - it was huge and looked like it was loaded with lump backfin (will definitely order next time). I also got the HT glass with yummy sangria and will get happy hour prices every time I bring my glass back in (great deal)! Ambiance was really nice too. Service was outstanding and manager stopped by our table for a visit. Hot Tuna rivals some of the best restaurants we've experienced in DC and Baltimore! "

  • "We were seated very quickly by the very nice and polite manager. The cedar plank rockfish I ordered was simply amazing. Packed with flavor and cooked to perfection, my taste buds were delighted in how delicious it was. Even the green beans were perfect. The mojitos here are all they said they'd be and more. My fiance was pleased with his burger too; and the shark bite mixed drink was really cool with the little plastic shark full of grenadine to pour into the drink. Overall, I would give this restaurant a standing ovation for great food, excellent service, and a great menu to choose from. Definitely a highly recommended restaurant I will suggest to my friends and family."

  • "I went here on a recommendation for the sangria and seafood-The sangria was one of the best ever. The signature crab/green tomato appetizer was very good but the special rockfish of the day on a cedar plank was too smoky and maybe just a bit undercooked. I really like the decor and it wasnt too noisy as it was Thursday night and we left before 9 pm. The wait staff was very nice. I think I would try this place again."

  • "We arrived early for a reservation and hung around for our table. It was worth the wait. The mojitos were perfect. The calimari was perfectly done as well, not overdone and the right amount of crispy delicious flavor. My yellow fin tuna was absolutely delicious and cooked just right. My fiance enjoyed his avacado chicken too and we both agreed we would definitely visit again. I will make it a point to invite all my friends and family."

  • "Hot Tuna was recommended to us for the after race and birthday dinner. Waitress was good and don't know exactly where the breakdown was but after our appetizer of calamari that came out very quickly it was another 40 min. after that was cleared before we got food. No mention of a discount or coupon or anything...just that something went wrong. The coconut shrimp was very good but the side of wasabi beans were not cooked and so hard almost choked on them... Waitress could have been a bit more humble as to the wait that ensued and people who came in after us were served their meals whilst we waited."

  • "My hubby and I went for Valentine's day and enjoyed ourselves. The service was excellent since we walked in the door. We were seated right away even though we were a little early. The server was knowledgeable and friendly. The manager came by the table to ask us how we were enjoying the evening. The food was delicious. My hubby and I decided to order the same thing because it sounded so good. It didn't disappoint. We generally order different meals and share but we had the seafood mixed grill with scallops, salmon and flounder. We truly enjoyed it. We had a tasty salad to go with it and of course we had appetizers. We had the portabella mushrooms and the blackened tuna bites. Everything was delish!"

  • "In Town for NYE we found Hot Tuna on the web. We ordered the appetizer calamari (as opposed to the tapas). The squid itself was perfect. The creamy red-pepper sauce, while delicious, felt a little heavy with fried squid. We shared two other appetizers, scallops and the crab/green tomatos - both were good - but a littile unexciting. Finally, we shared the coffee rubbed steak, cooked perfectly rare. The pinor noir sauce provided a great balance. I also had a salad and the house dressing, lemon wasabi. Light and slightly sweet, it complemented the salad without over-powering. Not a dessert person, I was surprised by the outstanding coconut cake. Dense, moist, and loaded with coconut, it was the best coconut cake I have found in a restaurant."

  • "It was the first visit to Hot Tuna for our group of four adults. The service was friendly and attentive from the hostess's initial greeting through the manager's visit at the end of dinner. Drinks and calamari app were good, but not the best we'd ever had. Dinner, however, was amazing. We ordered three different tuna dishes and the planked salmon. Each was beautifully seasoned, prepared, and presented including the sides. The vegetable of the day was a green bean and carrot medley - thin beans and hints of julienne carrots with an Asian flavor was perfect with the rare ahi. The buerre butter on the planked salmon, which was perfectly cooked, was the perfect accompaniment. The linguine alio and olio was garlicky and peppery. We'll be back!"

  • "This was my first time dining at Hot Tuna and based on the reviews, I was really excited about going. First problem , my "award winning" she crab soup was luke warm. My boyfriend ordered bread to have with his appetizer. The bread was hot on the outside and cold on the inside. Then comes the entrees. He ordered the well known Parmesan tuna which was also like warm and bland. I ordered a sandwich with garlic linguine but the brought out garlic mashed potatoes. She then came out with my garlic linguine which was just as bad as the potatoes. The sangria and chicken appetizer was good. That's all. I will not be going back."

  • "Hot Tuna never fails to please. When local rockfish is in season, have it cedar planked and smoked - it is simply the very best fish - ever! Our server, Chad, is the very best server in Tidewater. We are regulars, and he always makes our dining experience even better with his attention to details, remembering what each of us likes, and making recommendations he thinks we might like. This is one of our "go to" restaurants, especially when we have guests join us - they are always impressed, often remarking that this was their best meal during their stay. Thanks to all at Hot Tuna."

  • "We went in around 10pm for dessert and coffee. Got both and both were delicious…BUT the bar noise was disruptive to our group. Maybe they should shut down the restaurant part if they want to have a 'hopping' bar scene…and it was. BIG time! We have had dinner there many times, always delicious but we will avoid this place in the future…for late night dining. The 2 are incompatible."

  • "Love the atmosphere and drink selection. Started with an awesome tasty tuna appetizer on endive so we could not wait for the main course. Unfortunately once they came our taste buds crashed and burned. I ordered a pasta dish that was supposed to be laced with shrimp and scallops. Unfortunately no scallops arrived and the sauce was bland. At $23, this dish could have probably been found at CiCi's for far less. My wife ordered the fish tacos. Again tasteless. How can the chef make an app so decident yet the main course so bland. Season your food!"
