Diner Reviews
  • "Appetizers were great, had Green and Ceasar salad. Main Entrée had the fish special and Sirloin steak, Fish was very blan lacked seasoning, steak was over cooked ordered medium and got well done. Baked potatoe was highlight of night, was excellent. Service was very good waitress and clean staff did an amazing job"

  • "I was very impressed with the flavours of the items we chose. Garlic spinach was the best I have ever tasted outside my home and the lobster was buttery (even before dipping it in the butter). The fries are five star as well. My criticism with the restaurant is that the serving staff, who was eager to please, did lack some refined techniques for this calibre of menu pricing. A hefty price for LongIslandTea that was over-riddled with coke & lime mix. Server neglected to have one of us taste wine prior to serving us both. Two servers, eager to please, unknowingly kept interrupting our conversation to see if everything was okay. ...Just so you know. In any event, we'll be back."

  • "I brought my Dad to celebrate his 90th birthday at the ACC. Of course we were hoping to be able to dine at the Hot Stove. He was thrilled to be there. The service was great. Many of the staff came over during our meal to shake his hand and wish him a happy birthday. Our food was really good, the service was really good. The people serving and around us were great. If I had to pick one thing that was a challenge was the noise level making it a bit difficult to hear once the place gets rocking, but considering the energy of the place, that was almost a non-issue. Thanks for making it a memorable!"

  • "The design of this restaurant results in two negative situations: cramped passage for staff and customers and noise levels so high you can't have a decent conversation. The service was such that we were constantly interrupted while we were talking/eating, but ignored when we needed service. For the price of this restaurant, I was not impressed."

  • "Food was horribly prepared...no doubt why the place was virtually empty. Stick with Platinum Club or Air Canada Club."

  • "Dinner was great. Steaks cooked to order and out in plenty of time prior to puck drop. Apps are good. Pricing is expensive, but to be expected I guess. Table was booked for 4 at 5pm and we managed to hit our seats for about 8 minutes at the start of the game."

  • "Food wasn't nearly good enough for the price. Asparagus was pretty much raw. Steak was ok but I've had better."

  • "Perfect spot within the ACC for a game night meal. Staff was attentive and professional. Filet mignonette was cooked to perfection!"

  • "We got my in-laws a gift certificate here and they really did not enjoy it. They felt people were packed in like sardines and said that it was so noisy they were not even able to talk over dinner. They said the food was ok, but felt they were overlooked by servers because they had not ordered much alcohol. "

  • "A very good pre-hockey steak, with prompt service. Exactly what we wanted and perfect for the occasion."

  • "If you want something a little more substantial than pizza or hot dogs before a game, then this is the place. My wife and I dropped in before a Raptors game. Food is actually very good - seafood and steaks predominantly: steaks are perfectly cooked and the lobster salad was very good too. It is not cheap - $10 per prawn I thought was a little excessive, but the prawns were good! - however you are in the ACC so expect to pay a premium. Beer and wine lists also very good. The best thing about this place is the service though. Very attentive and given they are set up for pre-game clientele, they get you through efficiently, but you don't feel rushed. We booked in advance, probably did not need to, but I hear it gets busy before Leaf games."
    Dined on 3/12/2014
  • "The tables are way too close together and the service was quite rushed. The food was nothing special either."

  • "The experience was good, the server was friendly and helpful. The food was just good not great and the prices were on the high side but understandable due to the convenience for the game."

  • "With all the staff there we had to ask multiple times for water. Had my 2 boys there and they had to eat dinner without a drink or water. I My cousin and I had no drink for over 15 mins either. They brought out the wrong salad for me twice. The good was excellent when it arrived but will never go back"

  • "We had a reservation for 5:15 on Saturday Mar 8th for the Toronto-Philly game. I made the reservation for that time to have enough time to eat and get to our seats for the pre-game warm up. We arrived on time and placed our food order about 10minutes after arriving. We did not receive our food until 6:35, totally missing the pre-game skate. I asked the waitress to speak to the manager, which the waitress did go and let her know that we waned to speak to her. I told her how unhappy we were with the service we received. She did take our food off of the bill, which I was thankful for. We were told that the waitress did not order our food. For this reason we will not be returning to eat here again."

  • "Frequented this restaurant as we wanted in close proximity to the hockey game at the ACC. The menu and prices were that of a high end steakhouse so we were anticipating an outstanding meal. After ordering, the steaks, vegetables, etc., all arrived with 5-6 minutes after ordering. Obviously, our food was pre-prepared and tasted like it. My filet was more what I'd suspect a Waffle House steak to taste like. The chef had even cut into the centre of my steak, to check if it was cooked, "Medium". (A good steakhouse will never do that.). My steak was grossly over cooked and tougher than shoe leather! But the meal was fast. I'd suggest that future patrons might consider a stadium dog & beer. Youre experience will be better and just as fast."

  • "I'd recommend this restaurant for anybody going to the ACC for an event. Nice to get in early, have a meal and dine at the legendary Hot Stove. Nice atmosphere, good service and good meal. Nice to be in the building and walk throgh the platinum area before going to our seats. But to be honest, you pay for the experience, not the meal. The same meal anywhere else is half the price. Good meal, not great. Small menu, over priced food. I'd go back, but it's for the experience."

  • "I have been before. The Hot Stove is very conveniently located for ACC events. The atmosphere is good and the food is good (not great), although very expensive compared to other comparable options. On this occassion, the service was very slow, which resulted in us being late for our event. It took 10 minutes for a waiter to even speak to us after being seated, and then more than an hour for our food to come after ordering. This was inexcusable since they even had a limited menu because of the special event at the ACC. I will not return, and will choose other nearby options."

  • "Quiet the dissapointment. We had a reservation for 6:30 on Sat evening prior to the Sting & Paul Simon concert. We were seated immediately but waited 15 mins before anyone came to our table to offer us a drink. Food arrived within a reasonable time but the vegetables were luke warm. They offered to bring out hot vegetables but we kept the main dish...the second round of vegetables was only mildly warmer but we decided just to eat what we could. They comped our drinks but I think that wasn't really enough for the poor service and meal. Not a positive experience. As we were leaving I saw the table next to us return one of their meals too. Setting is key and great to walk out to the stadium but definitely need to work on a couple of items!!"

  • "The Hot Stove Club is conveniently located right at the ACC. No need to go outside to get to the venue. If dining with a group, ensure everyone has their ticket prior to entering the dining entrance otherwise you will need to wait outside until your guests join you. Food choice is reasonable and prepared adequately, however some items were served undercooked (calamari) and some over cooked (filet). Server was somewhat inattentive, asking some but not all members of the group if they were satisfied, offering water, drinks etc. Noise level was very high making conversation difficult even when sitting in a booth. Very busy location pre concert."

  • "Went to the Hot Stove Club before the Sting and Paul Simon concert. I was with my two daughters and their partners and one of my nieces. Very attentive staff (Andy, Maggie and Michelle), my only reason for 3 stars on the food was my med/rare prime rib was rare. Had a wonderful time with my family and would definitely go back. Excellent concert too!"

  • "The Hot Stove is somewhat true to the former location at Maple Leaf Gardens where Harold Ballard used to hold court with other men with business expense accounts, and women were not welcome: lots of beef on the menu and really, really expensive alcohol. The food here is pricey but very good; the wine list is extensive but the prices well beyond the normal downtown mark-up. The service is superb - I can't fathom how they can graciously serve the entire restaurant in the two hour window before ACC events, but they do. Somehow without making you feel rushed and without losing attention to detail."

  • "We picked the restaurant for convenience and that part was great. However the service was a bit like being at a low priced diner. We were given water upon seating and handed the sheet of paper that was the menu. We had to ask for a wine list. We placed the order for our wine and shortly after another server took our food order. We had just begun to visit with each other when the food arrived (within about 4 minutes of the order) and the wine had not arrived. We felt a bit like they wanted us to eat and leave. They had no tea selection or decaf capucinno. They never asked if we wanted anythin else and dumped the bill on the table in under an hour and a half. All this lack of attention for a $33 chicken dinner. Not impressed."

  • "The Hot Stove is a great place to eat before or after a game. It makes you feel like an exclusive member even if you're not-a ticket to the game will allow you to make a reservation. The food is prepared how you want it, the service is outstanding and the atmosphere is not overwhelming or too loud. You can also check your coat there and get it after the game."

  • "2nd time to the Hot Stove and this time with friends. Very good. Waiter ensured that two dietary issues were taken care of and ensured that ingredients of dishes were clear of an allergy. All dishes were great."

  • "The food was incredible. We loved every bite. The service, however, was not at the same par as the food. Slow and forgotten. Person sitting at table beside me wanted a water refill for 15 min. Only was refilled when server came to give the bill. We were only asked once for drinks - both glasses sitting empty for half of meal. It's unfortunate. With cost of eating at the Hot Stove the service should be impeccable! Not sure if will be back."

  • "Our first visit to the Hot Stove at the ACC. We had a 5:15pm reservation and as the site only opens at 5:00, it was relatively empty when we were seated. The plus side to that was our server was able to provide us an above average level of attention and was able to chat for a bit every now and then. This was important as we had menu questions given a dietary restriction (no cow milk items). The menu that night was very limited due to the support staff strike at the ACC (it just ended that pm), but all of the selections looked good. We started with salads, for mains my wife had the Salmon and I had the Tenderloin Roast Medallions (both were very good) and for desert chocolate cake (limited dairy). Food was very good. Will go back soon."

  • "I have been enjoying the Hot Stove for years and this was the first time i was upset with my experiance. With the work shortage on dec 14 2013 vs chicago the wait for food was horrible. With all the top chefs in the kitchen the food too for ever to come out, even our server agreed and mentiont how the executive chefs could not handle the moderate business with out there support staff whom were on strike."

  • "Went here prior to a Raptor game so it wasn't that busy (swamped for Leaf games). Excellent wine selection and the prime rib was incredible (had it before late and it was dry, best to get there early!)"

  • "Chose it for convenience before a Raptors game. Decor is pleasant but on our Tuesday night it was mostly empty. The appetizers were VERY good - large shrimp cocktail and grilled calamari. We ordered the Tomahawk ribeye for 2 and asked for it to be cooked medium rare. It was way over done to the point of being well done. The garlic spinach side was delicious, the french fries probably the worst I have ever had - soggy and limp. Nice carrot cake to finish. Would probably give it another try because service was courteous making up for much of the kitchen's inconsistency."

  • "We are lucky that we are able to come and enjoy the Hot Stove. Its great. The service was top notch and usually the food as well. This weekend our steaks weren't great, and the cauliflower was off. Really these were both non issues, we will come back again, but we were disappointed that we didn't get a manager visit to talk about the food quality. We love the Hot Stove and all it means at the game, but we think we should have been visited by a manager when we talked about our meal with our server."

  • "My wife and I were attending a game, I'd been to the hot stove before and it was a great experience. This time, it took our waiter at least 5 minutes once seated to greet us as well as take our drink order....another 5 minutes before we received. There were several patrons arriving while we were waiting. Most if not all seated after us were digging into appetizers before our order was taken. I wanted to leave at this point however my wife insisted that we stay and eat as we weren't going to be able to get in anywhere else on such short notice. This is a high end restaurant with great food however it's not worth the money unless you are a regular, recognized by management, as those who did, received much better service."
