HospodaYou're simply the best :-)Thank you so much for your permanently groving quality services. I love you all, guys!6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the food, service, andLoved the food, service, and ambience. It is an upscale restaurant with a Czech perspective.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMPerhaps NYC's only Czech outpostExcellent, nicely prepared food in sort of "new Czech" vein. I had the schnitzel - delicious. Restaurant is beautiful: dark walls with white patterns, big windows in the front. Probably a bit noisy on weekends in prime-time (say, from 9:00pm). Service is excellent and there are some fascinating beers to investigate.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMTruly creative celestial cuisine!Truly creative celestial cuisine! Sauteed cherries in beer foam were worth ordering a second portion-but that is how we felt about each dish. Most tender, moist crispy battered veal schnizel, fois gras, spring pea soup/crawfish-OMG-every dish was heavenly. This is a cuisine at least 2 stratispheres above other "cutting edge" NYC restaurants! Friendly service-not intrusive. Fun, modern funky decor. I love beer and for me this meal was truly great. 2 of us were not beer lovers and chose wine pairings saying "Wow, right on target-each pairing is perfect." They are SF foodies used to Koi and French Laundry, and lauded everything about this very special unique, wonderful Hospoda; adding " We're coming back to Hospoda "For sure!" ...TERRIFIC!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBad lightingWe sat against the wall and the overhead spot lights glared in our eyes which was uncomfortable
Everything else was greatv5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond Brunch - Just as amazingThis is the second time I've been to Hospoda, both times for Brunch on Sunday afternoon, and both times have been absolutely spectacular. Situated in a quiet neighborhood in the Upper East Side it's probably not a place you're going to find without specifically looking for it (or unless you live nearby). With that said however, it's well worth the trip even if you're living elsewhere. While their menu changes seasonally (and perhaps more frequently), everything that I've tasted there has been amazing - from their beer, to their beer-foam cherries. Would absolutely recommend it to others (and have before!)5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent in all respectsExcellent in all respects - we especially appreciate the sommelier and his wine suggestions.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice placeWe were pleasantly surprised with food and ambiance.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBest CZECH Beer in NYI know some other restaurants from Ambiente-Group in Czech Republic. All this restaurants offer a good quality.
The food was very good, the portions in "XS". If you are very hungry, you need a whole menue. A cool "Pilsner Urquell" makes it easier :-) Nobody will belife, that they take for a glass of Bercherova 11,00$! Wouw. Not a good marketing, to make Becherovka more populare in NY.
I will come back
Peter from Germany and Czech Republic5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe restaurant is strikingThe restaurant is striking with a well-thought-out and attractive layout. The food menu is just varied enough to suit a variety of tastes without being overwhelming; the group I went with loved every dish from the asparagus to the scallops to the arctic char to the short ribs. The drink and wine menus are tomes that intimidated us originally, but between the waitstaff and the personable sommelier, we found something we liked without going out of our price range. I can't wait to go back.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMSurprise goodWho would have thought to try Chech food? Really good4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFantasticLoved the place, and didn't mind that the food service was a little slow but they brought us dessert on the house. I love this place.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMHospitable HOSPODAI enjoyed my Atlantic char. The food is good, although the portions are not ample. The presentation is unique and beautiful. Ambiance and decor are exceptional. I recommend dining here for the uniqueness of the experience. Asparagus ice cream was a first for me; it was surprisingly good.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThey have the crispiest duckThey have the crispiest duck and the beer is the best in the City.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic find! This was our first time at Hospoda. It was great! From the moment we arrived and they found out it was our first experience, we were sent on a journey... We were given a taster of their 'full foam' beer, which was great and needless to say we ordered one each of those! We then decided to have the wine/beer pairing with each course. If there was a wine/beer recommendation we did not fancy then we just asked the Sommelier's next choice.. Each time the different wine was brought out by the Sommelier with the food and explanations given. It really was a fantastic find. My husband has eaten in a lot of restaurants and said that this was by far the most fun!! The restaurant itself is very cooly decorated too. Will definitely return.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Czech-inspired food,Excellent Czech-inspired food, paired with a new sommelier who is doing wonderful things with the wine list. And if wine isn't your thing, the beer is great too. We highly recommend dining here.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMSlow service but DELICIOUS foodIncredible food! Favorite dish was a slow-cooked chicken with black currant foam (foam didn't fall flat like in some other restaurants). Also plum dumplings. Delicious Czech beer brewed on the premises - they gave a sample as soon as we were seated. It took a REALLY long time for anyone to actually get us a menu and take our order, then for the food to arrive. My friend had to work a night shift and we thought we'd given ourselves ample time for dinner but we ended up feeling antsy about the time. A waiter came over to acknowledge the delay, and offer us a free drink. I felt they handled the situation graciously compared to a lot of restaurants. Overall I'd go back.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you like Eastern EuropeanIf you like Eastern European food or are longing for high quality Czech beer, then this is the place. Welcoming and artistic atmosphere. We will come back.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMComplimentary bee sample wasComplimentary bee sample was nice touch.
We also enjoyed taste of soup in a little cup.

It is worth the trip to the UES.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious Czech-influencedDelicious Czech-influenced food with great beer. We also really like the wine list and Hospoda's sommelier is extremely helpful with navigating the list.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb, light (!) Czech cuisineSuperb, light (!) Czech cuisine and marvelous Pilsner Urquell served four ways.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWe loved it! First time atWe loved it! First time at a Czech restaurant. Were fascinated with the beer presentation. We'll be back!3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMbohemian rhapsodyHospoda, the new restaurant on the ground floor of the Bohemian National Hall – itself a recently renovated holdout from the days when New York’s Yorkville and Upper East Side were a hive of mittel-European emigration – is doing for Czech food what the Plastic People of the Universe did for the Czech people: expanding the perception of possibilities. Chefs Oldrich Sahajdak and Katie Busch might not be rock stars – though with chefs you never know – but together they’re cooking up an altogether more appetizing kind of Prague spring. http://bit.ly/YTIso03/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is fabulous as isThe food is fabulous as is the price. Eat here and don't worry about what it costs. Downside is it is noisy.2/22/2013 12:00:00 AMDue to restaurant week, theDue to restaurant week, the place was pretty crowded. The bread and food are good and the free beer foam is a nice touch. Our neighbors food came out cold but the waiter apologized and fixed the problem. The menu is fine but if you go here a few times, the menu loses some of its excitement. They need to update the menu each season or add some specials.1/17/2013 12:00:00 AMMushrooms were terrific.Mushrooms were terrific. It is lovely that they have vegetarian options. It is pricey, but the food is beyond delicious.1/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
