Horizons® - Grove Park InnCouples RetreatLoved the fact we had a wonderful view and a table for two. Great service. Great food! Very romantic. Loved how servers explained the presentation of the food when it arrived. Food had wonderful tastes and beautiful color presentation. Would highly recommend.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWhen you want to treat yourself...Horizons is what you would expect from the best restaurant at the Grove Park Inn. Wine list is excellent, food selection is inventive, food is sourced locally and is well prepared, and the service staff is attentive (not obtrusive), well trained, and superb. Make reservations for a time when you will gain a view of the mountain setting.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat romantic dinner spotTook my new fiancée to Horizons for a special end to the evening, and loved the beautiful view out over the mountains. Food was excellent, our server was very kind and helpful, and they even provided some custom-made gluten-free options for my fiancée. Well recommended.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWent for a birthday dinnerWent for a birthday dinner with my wife and son. It was a great evening. We had a wonderful time. We will definitely go back.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat view and setting, good foodWe went for an anniversary dinner and it was a great place for that. The view is great if you can get by a window, service was very attentive, and the food was very good, not outstanding. The waitstaff were very obliging, changing a wine out that my wife didn't like. We had the striped bass and lamb, and both were prepared well with good accompaniments. The chocolate almond torte is recommended for dessert.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary DinnerGreat place for a romantic wedding anniversary. They gave us a great window table with the full smoky mountain view. Created a special gluten-free dish for my wife and gave us a complimentary anniversary dessert treat. Wonderful experience. 5 stars.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMPricey; mostly worth itAnniversary dinner for two. Food first class. Service outstanding. Bill came to $170 including drinks and desserts. The surprise "Happy Anniversary" touch was sweet. Room could use a decorator's touch. We had a window table overlooking the golf course; very nice view. $15 for parking.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulousHappily gave highest ratings in every category. An amazing, delightful evening. We were guests at GPI and Horizons was a delightful haven - a quiet respite amidst a full hotel with attentive and congenial wait staff throughout our meal, creative menu choices fit for foodies using local foods, and great recommendations by Cherrie on menu options. It was worth every penny! We wanted a special dinner but didn't feel like leaving RPI grounds -Horizons was the perfect solution.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful! We really enjoyed Horizons for dinner on Saturday night. The gluten free biscuits were amazing! The view is very pretty and the setting is romantic. The scallops dish was good. The only thing we did not like was the margarita, but they quickly brought out a new drink. The service was very good!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMHorizons@Grove Park InnExceptional food, service and location. David was helpfull, friendly and personable but not intrusive. My wife and I were there for our anniversary and we both agreed it was one of the top five dining experiences we've had. Horizons is a AAA 4 diamond restaurant and lives up to its reputation. Of course the view from the windows is spectacular and only enhances the experience. I had the filet mignon and my wife had the black grouper both of which were perfectly prepared. The appetizers, Vidalia onion soup with crab for me and the crab cake for my wife were delicious. Go there if you can.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMHorizons FanThis was an exceptional dining experience for me and for my fiance'. The staff was friendly and paid attention to our every need. The chef did an excellent job with the meal and could not find any fault with it what so ever. I highly recommend the restaurant for any dining experience.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMChangesWe have been coming 30 years including Dynasty. We are not in favor of making front half casual and menu choices reduced along with wine list. Also no piano which was nice. Makes it less special.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMHad the most wonderful experienceHad the most wonderful experience at Horizons!! Wish the wine list featured a few less expensive wines.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and restaurantGreat food and restaurant however our mid-afternoon Easter Sunday reservation in a near empty restaurant only got us a seat at an informal table near the bar. We did have an awesome view.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial treat worth doingI picked Horizon's restaurant at the Grove Park Inn for a special Easter dinner - forget the jelly beans and chocolate bunnies. I expected a delicious meal in a refined setting and that is exactly what we got. Everything was perfect. You'll pay for it, but you will enjoy it. We ordered the chef's special and an entree of scallops. The special has six dishes. The first four are small, but wonderfully tasty, the fifth is a main course, and the sixth is desert. The end result is a filling dining experience with an array of tastes without feeling stuffed. We each had a "full pour" of wine (6 oz)of the sauvignon blanc and it was a perfect complement to the meal. The special was $75, scallops $28, wine $13 a glass. Service was excellent.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe thoroughly enjoyed ourWe thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Horizons and plan to return in the near future to spend a vacation at the resort.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMA very romantic setting withA very romantic setting with a knowledgable, helpful staff. The food was local and fresh, the dishes were flavorful and creative. The wine list was quite extensive. The entire experience was fantastic!3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMA wonderful restaurant. TheA wonderful restaurant. The chef's tasting menu was exquisite and wonderfully local. Be sure to check the current Chef de Cusine, as the one there in March of 2013 is rumored to be leaving. This means the offerings will and should change to reflect the personality and passion of the new Chef. Hopefully, the food and service will maintain their elegant and delicious nature.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFine Dining in AshevilleExcellent dinner with our good friends. The service is excellent. The menu isn't huge, but has a very nice selection. All the food we ordered was well prepared, presented, and very tasty! The extensive (huge) wine list was deciphered with very good advice from the sommelier. You will pay for it though...all the wines averaged 3-4 times the available retail cost, which is at or above the normal fine dining up charge.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great meal at Horizons. We had a great meal at Horizons.
