  • "This was our second time because we enjoyed the incredible view, and we wanted to have the monthly special. The first time we were not alerted to the special, offered only those on their email list.This was not advertised. We had to ask why patrons were given options that were not open to us. We had surf and turf. The lobster was overdone. Usually we are able to relay any food restrictions via the Open Table website. Our curt server had not read the gluten free "I have celiac disease" request. When told about it, he proceeded to test us to see if we actually knew what it meant. That was off-putting. We wish to be respected for our needs, and that the Open Table would help us convey those needs. Hopefully Horizons improves in this area."

  • "I liked the small menu for brunch, some items were a little different but overall I liked the selection. Service was good and prompt. Food I felt was quite good, my eggs benedict was excellent. I plan on going back to try the omelette bar which is unlimited."

  • "The bread was cold. The crab cake was partly cold. The Steak was only just warm when served. An order of side dish totally forgotten. You need a very hot stomach and cool mind to visit this restaurant. Will not go there again."

  • "This is one of our favourite dinner spots. I am glad that there is a monitor to ensure that restaurant patrons receive a parking spot. The mountain is such a popular spot for Vancouverites and tourists, there is a premium for parking there!"

  • "Over the past year the service has definitely declined. We were seated for 10mins. (I checked the time), before anyone acknowledged us or brought over some water. The food came out quickly however, and not sure if that was because we had the lobster and steak special which seemed to be a popular item because of the coupon promotion. Portion of food was good, but somewhat lacking in taste which made it 'okay' but definitely not 5 stars."

  • "We celebrated a special occasion. My Mom's 78th birthday. Everything was fantastic despite the weather. No view but that was okay. We (6) of us truly enjoyed dining at Horizons and will definitely be back again. Awesome that specials are featured via coupon. Thanks you Horizons. We have company coming in from California in a few months and it is on our list of must dos when she comes to visit."

  • "Overall great value. Pu allow time for a stroll around the park before dinner. We had quite poor service but it was extremely busy our server did apologise. Helper who brought our food was abrupt and invasive. Saw little of our server but other things made up for it. We came on a groupon but the full price for the quality and atmosphere are well worth it. Crème brulé was terrible. Specialty coffee was luke. The rest was lovely."

  • "Loved this as a Groupon, we have always gone here for date night. Only warning is watch out for last days of Groupon deals, we always go on Monday nights because it is lower key and more intimate but was last day of Groupons and was extremely busy so ambience wasn't quiet what we were expecting. Service and Food did not suffer in the least just more like a Friday/Saturday night dining."

  • "Great location, good service but food is average at best. Went for brunch and found the menu to be limited and the food quality to be similar to a diner. Crepes had way too much cream sauce and there was little sparkling wine in the mimosa and the orange juice flavour wasn't great (concentrated frozen juice cans?)."

  • "I was surprised by how unfriendly the staff were. In the whole experience there was only one person who was actually friendly. He was one of the guys who brought our food from the kitchen (one of the people in the black shirts). I was expecting the staff to be friendly and attentive. Rather, I felt as though I were an unconvince to my waiter and the hostesses. That was extremely disappointing. The food and the view were fantastic but the lack of enthusiasm from the staff had a huge negative effect on the night."

  • "This third visit to Horizons restored our faith in the restaurant. Our first visit was from a Horizons-specific promo that had us enthused. Our second visit using a Groupon soured us: the portions were miniscule (even for "fine dining") and the service made us feel somewhat embarrassed to be eating their "discount" meal. I don't know if Horizons learned from their feedback, but this third visit has restored our faith: the Groupon offerings were displayed clearly on a separate menu. The portions were generous and well prepared. The service was warm and genuine. How restaurants treat their "coupon" customers is important. Dining out is expensive and discounts are everywhere, so we rarely fine dine out if it's at full price."

  • "Perched at the top of Burnaby mountain, this restaurant has magnificent views and great food to match. Our server was attentive and polite. Went there for lunch and saw many tables with kids with no problem whatsoever. Had the seafood cioppino and my husband the clam tagliatelle. Both were delish!!"

  • "Horizons is a local go-to favourite for a nice night out. In our last two visits, we noticed that there has been an increase in the quality of the food and service. Horizons is priced similar to the Boathouse or even Milestones, but the quality is a huge step above those restaurants. The staff are knowledgable and attentive without being annoying. A special acknowledgement to Josh whose energy, positive attitude and personal warmth made the night extra-special."

If you are younger 20-25 range (or look somewhat young), they don't treat you well at all. Poor service. Descent food. Amazing view."

  • "This is a great romantic spot for "Date Nights". I highly recommend Monday nights as it is quieter and easier to focus on the special someone. If you can book around sunset that just adds to the delight. The menu caters to everyone from meat eaters to vegans. I highly recommend."

  • "This use to be my favorite restaurant, but recently this has gone downhill. The food is still quite good, but the service has been quite disappointing. This time I decided to purchase a Groupon. Our server was quite pleasant, but she didn't seem very attentive. I'm not too sure if it was because I went with a Groupon. All the other times that I have been, I had overall, pretty good service. I ordered off the menu, our server asked if we wanted a side of bread to start off, and I said yes. However, I was not told that I had to pay for the bread, as every other time that I was there, I did not pay for the bread. Not the money, but the principle of not telling and then charging me."

  • "I got the pork tenderloin which was perfectly made and super tender, but the rest of the meal - mashed potatoes and veggies - was so lame and simple, I could have made it better at home. Nothing exciting at all about this entree. Boyfriend got the steak. He ordered it medium rare and it came raw in the middle. Waiter came to do quality check and took it to the chef to fix it. He brought it back and it was still raw in the middle. He asked us what we would like him to do. We should have been more assertive. The chef attempted the same piece AGAIN and it came back somewhat well done. If I was the chef, I would not let this slide and the first time, I would have cooked a whole new steak. Similar thing regardless, sides were lame and simple."

  • "As this was my first visit to Horizons, I was not 100% sure of what to expect. I knew the view would be amazing and that was certainly the case. Breathtaking almost 360 degrees views of the lower mainland. As former chef, i have certain expectations of restaurant staff, their attire and look. I can say, this part of Horizon's was somewhat disappointing. None of the service staff were wearing aprons of any kind and the bus staff looks as though they had slept in their shirts and pants. I don't necessarily want to see the bus person's chest hair when he clears my plate so having them button up would be a good place to start. The food was good except for the cappuccino cheesecake, it was rubbery."

  • "I had requested that we sit near a window, we were sat at the first table in the middle of the room which was a lounge style table. We were had to wait 15 minutes for our table which was fine, but then we had to also wait 15 minutes to be greeted. Our food was mediocre at best, my steak had a nerve running throughout it and while it wasn't bad it definitely did not leave a lasting impression. Overall the service was the worst part of the night, empty plates on our table for long periods of time and not a friendly atmosphere. I was excited to try this restaurant for a long time because of the location, however that was the only redeeming feature of Horizons."

  • "It was my wife's birthday, and I requested if they can give us a good view in the OpenTable reservations, and they did. Our server was very nice and greeted my wife, "happy birthday". They even gave her a small cake with a birthday candle. Our food was very good - especially the tasty pork dish which my wife had. The mussels appetizers were delicious as well. Horizons and their staff capped an excellent birthday for my wife."

  • "We had a Groupon so the cost was very efficient. Service started off excellent but soon turned slow. Appetizers and drinks came quickly but our waitress was hardly seen after that as the restaurant became busier. The main course arrived with someone from the kitchen and the waitress didn't appear until we had almost finished the entree. the food was good but the steak a bit chewy. It felt like this was where they were saving some money on the Groupon offer. Overall, the ambience is lovely but just seems a bit pricey. $9. for a bowl of sea salted caramel ice cream. $3. for a pop with no refills was a bit much. If you have a coupon or Groupon then it is worth it for sure."

  • "Bread delivered early, as cocktails sat on the bar for 10 minutes, before being brought to us. Just before cocktails brought to us, server had bartender get a toothpick to remove something from one of the drinks. No water offered. Dinner served 5 minutes after cocktails. Loooong wait for dessert. While eating dessert, server picking up s&p shakers to refill, then with so many in her hands, she was dropping them on the floor, but putting them on the table anyway. Washrooms: 2 out of 3 stalls without TP. Garbage can overflowing with used paper towel."

  • "Bought Groupon for my husband's 40th. Requested window seat, instead were seated by a wall far from window, even though window seats were available. Waiter came, with a big smile, and as soon as we said we had a Groupon, his expression turned sour and he frowned. Came back with Groupon menus, threw them on the table & walked away. Another person came with water, he didn't greet us, just put the glasses full of water down, spilled half of it on the table and my dress, and walked away. No apology. Didn't clean it up. Appetizer came, mussels and clams, half the shells were empty. Steak & salmon were ok. Cheesecake was the worst I ever tasted. It was so full of gelatin it jiggled. Terrible!! Won't be back. Ever! Very dissapointing."
