Honu's on the Beach Restaurant features the most spectacular Breakfast Buffet with fresh island fruits, bakery items and breakfast basics enhanced by our famed "Live Omelet and Waffle Station". Ala carte menu available.

We welcome you in joining our entire Honu's team with our newest "Farm to Table" menu. (Cuisine selections available Sunday to Thursday). Gluten Free, Vegan & Diabetic selections available.

On Friday and Saturday evenings we feature our Famed Prime Rib and Seafood Buffet with a raw bar, appetizers, salads, specialty entrees and of course our "Slowed Roasted Prime Rib Au Jus and Steamed Snow Crab Legs". Adults: $44.95, Children (6-12yrs) $23.50.

Join us for Tapas - Sun. & Mon.; Sushi - Tues., Wed. & Thur. evenings, 5:30pm - 8:30pm with entertainment.

  • "I had my mind made up before opening the menu. I had the scallops here before and they were fantastic. On this visit, they weren't seared which, to my mind, is the only way they should be cooked. The accompaniments were fine it was plated differently than last time, being served on a round plate rather than a long rectangular one. Just not as tasteful to the eye, the accompaniments more mingled. My friend ordered the sushi but said there is better to be had on the island. She should have chosen from the dinner menu. Our server, Toby, was excellent. Very unobtrusive but always on top of things. The service here is best we've had in Kona."

  • "I found the food at Honu's to be just okay. The fresh ahi sashimi seemed a bit fishy. The beef short ribs tasted a little bit old. The kids pasta dish was boring. The burger was quite good though."

  • "Ths Kona restaurant, in the Marriott King Kamehameha Hotel, deserves more attention than it gets. Although it is somewhat pricey, the food is well worth a splurge. It is inventive and delicious, a kind of fusion of Pacific and modern cuisine. I liked their scallops on a base of creamed fresh corn (yes, creamed corn) very much. And last time, their special of furikake crusted, seared ahi tuna was delicious! They have some good wines, not too expensive. The view across a lawn to the bay in Kona is beautiful, and the indoor-outdoor nature of the place is perfect, regardless of the weather. The service was very friendly and prompt. We will definitely return next time we are in Kona!"

  • "Nice location by a cove near the downtown pier, overlooking cool heiau. Open-air seating was the best. We took our 9-year-old daughter, and took a nice stroll on the grass lawn by the restaurant before eating some of the best sashimi we've ever had. The mixed-seafood pasta was also delicious. I wish we'd had a chance to eat there again. (Still thinking about the sashimi - even the kid loved it.)"

Location and ambiance are superb; service was great; those having mahi mahi gave it rave reviews and the music was the perfect finishing touch. Only regret was that we picked a night that was Paul's night off. But, we'll be back!"

  • "Kona had been missing a great seafood buffet, since Keauhou Beach closed down. IT is wonderful to see that the King Kam has picked up the void. The dining room is very tastefully decorated and you can sit inside or outside overlooking the bay. The buffet has shrimp, sushi, salmon, etc and of course-crab legs! All you can eat-crab legs! There are other tasty items like a mixed seafood medley, chicken and of course Prime Rib-with a sharp horseradish sauce (yum). Salads and veggies fill out the buffet. A dessert buffet table had tiramisu, pies, 2 cakes, haupia, cookies, etc. The coffee was superb with the desserts (and it is included in the price). We had a friend recommend eating here, and she was spot on!"

  • "The service what not what we expected... We constantly had to wave down the server to refill our water, asked for a coke refill and we ended up getting a ice tea refill instead. After two tries, they finally got the coke drink correct. We are kama'aina's and support our local businesses. But to have that type of service, there is room for improvements."

  • "We were quite surprised by the setting. When one hears "on the beach" with fire pits, a view of the water, and live music, that's what's expected. Instead the restaurant is surrounded by concrete, a hotel pool, and a grassy yard where kids were playing. Although we arrived for the live evening entertainment, the other piped in music continued to play. A number of trees block the view of the ocean and sunset. We opted for appetizers and left."

  • "We went for the seafood buffet. If you want crab legs - you'll find them here! They had 3 giant trays of crab legs and never ran out. It's a typical buffet, basic salads, fruit etc. The food was fine, but I was hoping for more choices on the hot side. Servers were friendly & attentive."

Parking, since we weren't staying there, was a bit of a challenge - but mainly in figuring out where to go (they could use a few more signs) there were lots of available spots to choose from."

  • "Greeted warmly from everyone including servers. Great view of the Bay from our table just inside the open lanai area. We live on the Island and have dined here prior to this visit. It's a small buffet but the food is nicely prepared & the crab alone is worth the cost of the buffet. Salad choices, very fresh. Fried choices like calamari were cold, which we found unusual, as on past visits everything was perfect serving temperature. Prime rib was very rare but man at that station asked how I would like it cooked, had it grilled & brought to our table cooked perfectly medium. Great Hawaiian hospitality here! Nice desserts & the apple pie is outstanding. We had panna cotta with citrus berries...simply delicious! And, yes. we will return."

The food was above average for a buffet, but not of the same quality as meals from the weekday menu. We do recommend this restaurant, but not buffet, if you're looking for something special."

It was sushi night - it was really good, fresh sushi with several fruit garnishes we loved I the restaurant overlooks the harbor area where the a Ironman starts and where there is a luau most other nights - fun ! We highly recommend Honu's."

  • "Went here for the Christmas buffet dinner. The best item was the poke. The prime rib though cooked and presented well, was absolutely devoid of flavor. Dessert was an utter disappointment purely from a selection standpoint as it was extremely limited and what was offered was mediocre. Yep, if it weren't for the poke I would have rated a poor all the way around. As an aside, we did have the breakfast buffet here earlier in the week and it was pretty good."

One can usually retreat to inside in case of rain, but the outdoor dining is the best. Scenery and ambiance are unsurpassed. The Friday night buffet that we attended was amazing. The variety was awesome and the food fresh and delish."

  • "My husband, 2 1/2 year old daughter and I ate here recently and it was great! We had some entrees and sushi and everything was amazing and fresh. The service was suburb. Probably the best we had on the island!! They had people playing jazz and from where we sat we could see the beach and the Luau going on! The staff was great with my daughter....very attentive and the cocktails were great. One of the best places we went to on the Big Island!!"

  • "We had visiting mainland guests and wanted a special place go for dinner on a Friday evening. So glad we went to Honu's for the Seafood Buffet. Service was outstanding and though it is a small buffet, everything was nicely presented and tasted great. Loved the crab legs! What I really liked was that the fish (mahi mahi) was not swimming in a sauce. The sauce was contained separately and was very good.Right on the bay, beautiful ambiance! All in all a lovely dining experience!"

  • "Options of food choices such as salad bar and cold pupus was not there like some other seafood buffets on the Big Island. Dessert choices were very limited, again compared to other seafood buffets on the Big Island. No music, or any entertainment. Kind of pricey for not including sodas with meals. Other buffet on Island has a lot more options and a few dollars cheaper."

  • "We had high hopes for this restaurant after a friend raved about it. Our table had a great view of the bay. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the details of the food since there were more nuanced ingredients on this menu than on most we have encountered in the area. My salad of mixed greens was unremarkable with limp greens. My date's clam chowder was chock full of things; a very loose, inventive interpretation but good. I ordered the fliet tatami which came sliced over a teensy amount of mashed garlic potatoes and a tbs of spinach. It was tasty but the edge of the plate was absolutely swimming in oil or something....it was hard to see what since the lighting was dim. Date liked poke very much. Meal was good but not great. Out of words!"

  • "This is the main restaurant within the King Kamehameha III resort at the north end of Ali'i Dr. in Kailua-Kona. My wife and I went there for our anniversary. It did not seem particularly busy, and I had a reservation, but there was a delay getting seated (for which the staff were apologetic). The menu featured decent fish selections, including an ahi tuna poke appetizer. The macadamia encrusted mahi mahi was a little overcooked. The Hawaiian ahi tuna was delicious and featured a side of shrimp tempura roll. Wine list was typical mass produced California wines one might find at corporate chain restaurants, but they were at least appropriately priced. The staff did comp us an amuse-bouche and one dessert, and they were very friendly."

  • "My family and I frequent Honu's from time to time because we love seafood. But we also get treated to prime rib, chicken, pork and fish dishes. What was special about this night was that there were big groups attending the buffet and the restaurant placed our group away so that we were able to have some privacy and enjoyed our meal."

The lighting in the restaurant is pretty bad and could have been dimmer to create a more romantic and evening type atmosphere but if you sit on the edge of the patio it's possible to feel a little more secluded. The food was amazing and the staff was terrific! Honestly, the best pork roast I've ever had. It was marinated in kona coffee grounds for about 2 days!"
