Diner Reviews
  • "It was my 63rd birthday and my boss told me to try out Homefire Grill, so made a reservation for 5 PM on Sunday for my wife and myself. We arrived early and were seated promptly. We got to sit next to the indoor fire pit right under a ceiling light. Often we go to restaurants that are so dark it takes your eyes 10 minutes to adjust so you can read the menu. The waitress (Candice) was very attentive and even wished me a happy birthday. There were only about 8 other people in the restaurant ... one was a family with two children who were enjoying their pizza. My wife and I ordered the 8oz sirloin dinner, but now wish we had tried the bison burger. We toasted with a glass of Pinot Blanc which our waitress recommended ... very nice. ^_^"

  • "I knew about this restaurant by going for lunch but had not taken my wife there. After talking her into it as we live on the south side away we went meeting sister and brother-in law there. We both order the mussels and my god they were delicious with the sauce that they were in was great with dipping bread. We all had different meal and all of us enjoyed them. Great food great restaurant will return."

  • "Our waiter was a gem!!! He was well versed in what was on the menu, what was really good and what he felt we might enjoy. He had a great sense of humour and tried to meet all our needs. Food was also great, especially the mussels, of which my 4 1/2 year old grand-daughter consumed the majority of them. Always have enjoyed going to Homefire and will return again. Thank you,"

  • "I had gone there with my 2 kids ages 13 and 7. They were fast and friendly. It was so peaceful with the fire and music. Relaxing experience. 10/10 in my books it was awesome. I will be going there again."

  • "We had a fantastic time celebrating my mom's 60th birthday this past weekend. We were fortunate enough to have had the conference/dining room separate from the restaurant and it felt like home away from home without all the work of preparing and cleaning! The service was very friendly yet still keeping with the "classiness" of the evening. Our family had a great time and will definitely return."

  • "I must say, the food was pretty tasty, but not up to what I expected from a previous visit. What really lost me as a customer was the fast food type in and out attitude the waiter put us through . The bill was over two hundred dollars and he insisted the desert menu be on our table when were only 1/2 way through our main course. Were there empty tables ? Absolutely. So , A special diner out turned into a high class fast food style delight ... Too bad :("

  • "Great food, I had the elk lasagna and my girlfriend had the salmon. Both were very delicious as was the desserts we chose (sweet potato cheese cake and creme brûlée). Our waiter was very nice and helpful however never came back to check that our food was okay but otherwise was fairly quick clearing dishes and getting us drinks. Overall it was a nice experience and somewhere I would consider going back to."

  • "Back again at the homefire grill with my bride. We both love this restaurant because it has a nice atmosphere but also the food is great. We always look forward to the specials. Saturday night it was a sushi grade tuna for an appy Great"

  • "A good mix of food on the menu very unique. Has great flavor and stays hot until the end of my meal. Service is friendly and quick. Good place to eat if you are in a hurray if not its a relaxing place not loud at all. Once of my new favorite places to eat for sure."

  • "Homefire Grill has been around for many years and we had never tried it. We made a reservation easily and when we arrived the place was humming with people. We were seated promptly and within seconds someone came to our table for drinks and told us the special. It has a Native American decor theme so we ordered Bannock, as an appetizer. The maple butter that comes with it was yummy but the bannock seemed a pasty white fire baked bread. Perhaps Bannock is typically this way and simply not my dish. They have a decent wine list but my Chardonnay arrived too warm. Dinner arrived without delay. I ordered the special - salmon wrapped in bacon with mussels and scallops in a delicious sauce over linguini. Very good and filling. Good food overall."

  • "Always greeted with a smile and promptly seated. The menu has a good balance of choices to please any palette and appetite. This is my favourite place for lunch or dinner for business or pleasure. The wait staff is very attentive, friendly and professional."

  • "Being an aboriginal owned establishment we were a little disappointed on the wild life menu or lack of, was expecting a bit more of a choice than a burger or meat loaf but the rest was an really enjoyable experience. The food was great and the service extremely amicable. We will certainly recommend your restaurant to our family and friends. Even more if your menu includes a more open variety of wild life entrees."

  • "We love coming to The Homefire. We are there about 6 times a year. We are from Northwest Alberta so we only come to Edmonton that often. We were at the opening of the restaurant and have been coming ever since. Now my son and his wife also are lovers of the Homefire. Keep up the good work and we will see you in April."

  • "Overall a good experience for Valentine Day. Only hic-up was I phoned to check if we were able to order off the menu on valentines Day and was told we could but when we arrive we were told it was tab la dote (special menu only)."

  • "Four of us went to the Homefire Grill for their special fixed-price, four course Valentine's Dinner special. All of the menu choices (2 starters, 2 appetizers, 4 entrees, and 2 desserts) were generous in size, delicious and nicely presented. The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. We would definitely return for lunch or dinner from their regular menu."

  • "Good meal but the set price of $69pp was a reach for the overall experience."

  • "Love the food. Great service. Problem is that since we booked online we don't get the restaurant and was booked for a high top table in the bar. Not the romantic experience I thought it should be. Even though we booked 3 weeks early."

  • "The decor is very attractive and the service was pretty good too. I just found the food to be just OK for the price. I did enjoy the Bannock and maple butter but the rest did not meet my expectations. Probably won't be going back."

  • "We continue to go to Homefire Grill when we want an excellent meal, and excellent service. The meal on New Year's Eve, was as always, hot when it arrived, everything was delicious. I am not a vegetable fan on a good day, but at Homefire I always eat all the vegies first and savor every bite!"

  • "Had a great time at Homefire grill. Food service was fast. Food came out hot and presentation was good. Good flavors. We ordered irish stew, Tbone and sirloin."

  • "Dined with four other people and sorry but all but one of us found the food to be very bland and certainly not memorable for the right reasons The New Years Eve appetizer special "scallops" was totally overpriced considering what arrived on the plate (2). The waitress made a huge error on our bill - approx. $40.00 which we caught before paying. On a positive note the atmosphere within the restaurant was very good."

  • "Loved the atmosphere of this place the first two times I came. Don't remember the food as being more than so-so with a rather limited menu. Thought I'd try it again for a Xmas dinner with my daughter. We both ordered baby back ribs. Great flavour on the sauce but the meat was dry, tough and over cooked. I simply couldn't eat my dinner. Both the Caesar salad and the spinach salad were dripping with dressing to the point of being limp and soggy. Service was perfect, both from our waitress as well as the friendly manager who would not charge us for our meals. That was a very pleasant surprise, but we were still let down and left the restaurant hungry and sad."

  • "A fine spot for a group of six friends to reconnect with great food and wine. Their specialty items included venison, elk and bison. The service was great and the prices reasonable. There are two cozy fireplaces, and there are both booths and tables. They also have a private room for a larger group. We have eaten here before, and will come back again soon."

  • "We were staying at the hotel beside the restaurant and a typical Edmonton snow storm going on outside, so we decided to try it. This place is a great find. From the hearty menu, homemade soups, and excellent service. They had a party in their private dinning room and the place was about half full when we arrived and were quickly seated given menus and had our drink order taken. Then two tables of 12 or more came thru the door followed by several couples, and room service deliveries, all were taken care of and no one waited for service. The staff stepped it up and no one waited. Theses guys rock The food portions are big and good. And desserts are fantastic. Try the sweet potato cheesecake."

  • "We have eaten there a few times and the food has always be great.. The service is always beyond our expectations. The last time we were there our server went to the hotel next door to try to get us Diet Pepsi - he went to three floors looking for this. That is CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!"

  • "My husband and I had TG dinner on the 14th. Overall the meal was good but not outstanding. Unfortunately, the pumkin pie tasted "store bought". Perhaps a different pumkin desert made in house would have been better. The service was great and the waiter was friendly."
