  • "Amazing as usual. Love the gluten free options and portion sizes are perfect. Fresh, unique and flavourful!"

  • "Food was delicious. Definitely a restaurant for sharing food items."

  • "My friend doesn't get downtown much - lives and works in the burbs, so when she comes downtown, I try to expose her to a variety of places. Her first time at Home Tasting Room - she was impressed. Great food, excellent friendly service, not too noisy this time - maybe 'cause it was a Monday in the summer. Thanks for a great lunch date!"

  • "My friends and I had a lovely experience at Home Tasting Room. We received a quiet table when we asked for one, and they even turned down the music, a bonus since one of our party is hard of hearing. The food was very tasty, especially the scallops. My only cavil would be the waiter's cologne, which wasn't an appetizing part of the evening. I would visit the restaurant again."

  • "Have been at the Home Tasting Room previously, so thought this would be a good place to take my friend to celebrate her recent graduation from college. Was it ever a great choice! We had decided to have an evening of the tasting plates where we could share dishes. The food was heavenly... the wine was great (our server brought around a couple of reds to try when we didn't like one that had been suggested). The service was perfect. Our server was super friendly, chatting enough to add a nice personal touch to our experience while ensuring that interruptions were minimum so we could visit. He was knowledgeable of the menu and offered some great suggestions. I'd definitely return here we really enjoyed ourselves. A great evening!"

  • "Unfortunately not able to try the wine due to it being a business lunch. The bison tartare was excellent, but the crispy pork sandwich was a bit on the dry side. Nice ambience and service."

  • "Browsed OpenTable and came across this restaurant and decided to book. Was so pleased with our experience and will not hesitate to come again. Average entree is $25-30, and it's creative, perfectly cooked delicious food. If you haven't been, go! You'll enjoy it just as much as we did ;-)"

  • "The service is friendly and attentive. Mains are so tasty, and yet healthy as well. Had a special that was a burger patty made of leftover sausage meat and scraps of other seasoned meats and it was like a burst of flavour. The chef and his team really do have a special talent for making anything special."

  • "Would recommend the scallops and the bison tartar, so yummy. Was a quite and romantic little spot. Server was friendly and helpfull. Good for late summer evenings and sunny patio lunches."

  • "The food at Home Tasting Room was decent, but nowhere near the level of execution that I expect for that price. My mother and I went for an impromptu early lunch, and of the three dishes we had, only one was done well. The bison tartar was delicious, if a bit small for the price. The gnocchi went nicely with the saskatoon berry and goat cheese, but it was much too dense, and over-salted. And the Mac & Cheese, well, it's hard to go wrong with gruyere, pea and prosciutto, but it was very watery. For dessert, my hazelnut mousse was tasty, but just one-note, endless richness - it needed something sour or savory to balance out. My mom's peanut butter s'more was cold, and so dense she was afraid she'd crack the plate. Probably won't be going back"

  • "I came here for a business lunch. Instead of doing lunch meals, we did the sharing plates which 3 was sufficient for a party of two. The bison tartar was delicious! "

  • "Don't miss it...subtle frontage on this resto and you might just walk by this wonderful lunch spot. Food is fresh and delicious, and I highly recommend the specials. An open kitchen adds to the great open concept of the room. Wine flights make for a nice addition as well. Well priced and better food than some of the showier spots across the street."

  • "Everything that was served to us from the wonderful soups to the chocolate dessert was delicious and inventive. The tapas style entrees were great to try different dishes. The restaurant has an open kitchen, a feature which always instills trust in the cooking. Modern and pleasing interior architecture adds to the experience. This is a place you don't want to miss when you're in Calgary! It is right in the center of town, so you can hop from bar to bar and enjoy the vibrant night life after dinner. Hats off to young chef Daniel Pizarro for creating this great place!"

  • "Overall we had a nice time and meal here, our only complaint was that we found the menu overpriced considering the portion sizes and simplicity of the dishes we ordered. Much better values out there. "

  • "The food at Home is delicious and it is familiar but not at all ordinary. The menu changed since we were last there - a little lighter for summer but with the favourites still on the menu. The feature/special is truly special and allows the chef some extra creativity. While I'm usually here with clients at lunchtime, the dinner menu looks great too."

  • "Food, service and ambiance was fantastic. By far, the best food in Calgary, in my opinion."

  • "I wasn't too impressed. My crispy pork sandwich was greasy; however, the gnocchi appetizer was excellent "

  • "I have never had a bad experience or meal at Home Tasting Room! This last visit they seemed to be short-staffed and our waitress was a little run off her feet. However this didn't take away from the great food and comfortable atmosphere (tables aren't butted up right next to each other). This is my go-to place for lunch downtown - that isn't going to change soon."

  • "Loved the room and the service was good. I started with the feature soup (pea/potato) and it was nothing special. The chicken with carrot puree and fava was quite good, moist and flavourful. For dessert I had the lemon tart- the crust was rock-hard and flavourless. The filling was nice and tart. The meringue was hard and dry, like a meringue cookie. (My companion had the pistachio mousse, which was very nice.) The coffee was not very good. Overall, not an outstanding food experience. "

  • "We've been to Home Tasting Room a number of times since it first opened. We have never been disappointed and this time was no exception. The white sturgeon special was superb, the starters and desserts really delicious and the viognier wine was perfect with the fish. Our server Lincoln made the whole dinner experience top-notch. He is friendly, knowledgeable and personable and has a perfect sense of timing (in terms of the pace he gave to our dinner experience) and an engaging personality."

  • "I want more of the gnocchi, the seared scallops, the beef terrine, the bison tartar, peanut butter s'mores. I will be back!!"

  • "Food is excellent - would highly recommend. The special was excellent but when we asked for another order we were told that they were sold out - at 6:45 pm. Our server was very please & we asked for to be accommodated with a 6:00 pm reservation for the theatre at 8:00 pm. We ordered an extra appy which took forever. Dessert was slow & tea never arrived in time to be drunk. The server volunteered to waive the charge for the late app & the dessert which was very considerate. It is nice to be able to eat on the patio but there is no atmosphere except the activity & noise on Stephen Ave. "

  • "I've been to the Home Tasting Room three times now, and each time has been fantastic - the menus change for seasons and time of day, with lots of options for difference tastes and I've never been disappointed with my choices! You would think the open atmosphere would make it noisy, but somehow they have managed to combine openness with intimacy. This time there were only 3 of us, my last two visits were part of a group and the service is great, no matter the size of party, the servers are knowledgeable on the selections and offer recommendations for food as well as beverage accompaniment to the food. I really like it and know I'll be back as well as recommend it to others!"

  • "We really enjoyed our dinner at Home Tastings prior to going to the CPO later in the evening. The service was great and the food selection (small tastings) was excellent. On our list to return to."

  • "We loved the fact that we could share dishes and therefore have the opportunity to try different foods. We ordered four dishes, antipasto plate, scallops, goat cheese & mushroom spread with home made chips, artichoke salad with pickled vegetables. All pickles are made on the premises. For desert we ordered the lemon tart which was perfectly tart & sweet at the same time. We also ordered s'mores a la Home Tasting Room which was delicious. The ambiance was lively and the service was prompt which we appreciated as we were off to a concert after dinner. "

  • "Had the pulled pork for the first time and it was as good as everything else I've tasted at the Home Tasting Room. The brioche bun was suitably crisp and held together well; the pork was tender and flavourful and just saucy enough (didn't have to shower afterwards!) and the soup was seasoned perfectly. Portion size was realistic - served on a plate rather than in a trough. Thank you Chef."

  • "The star of the evening was the food. The menu had something on it for everyone, and every dish was a beautiful combination of flavours. The staff was extremely friendly, and very helpful in recommending wine pairings. Many of the wines are offered in 2.5oz options allowing you to pair accordingly if you choose to experience the tasting plates. A wonderful experience overall, and we look forward to returning."

  • "We went to Home Tasting Room for a birthday and were quite disappointed with the food that evening. A couple of us had the ravioli, Arctic Char and Duck breast. The Ravioli lacked texture in the filling, which seemed so runny, it just escaped out of the very thin wrapper. The dish lacked flavor and was insufficient as an entree. The duck was very literal when they say it has an orange sauce. All you could taste was the tartness of the orange juice which was overwhelming. The sweet potatoes were underdone and the plating unexciting. The duck was slightly overdone but the best part of the dish. The birthday girl who selected the restaurant did however enjoy her Arctic Char. We ended up going elsewhere for dessert. "

  • "I went with 4 folks from work at 12:30. We were able to get a reservation on the same day so that was nice. We were all happy with the food and want to go back. We chose each to have entrees but it would be an option to share a number of tasting plates. Service was too slow for lunch service during the work day. It's like there weren't enough servers on staff..."
