Not being a fan of dining from a set menu we were sceptical about what choices we might have. The menu was fantastic, food great, loved that the tables were farther apart than many restaurants making our experience more intimate. We had only dined at Home Tasting for brunch in the past but will be back for dinner. The menu is small as is the wine list but from our Valentine's experience if each item is as well done less is more. The background music was just that, in the background, making it easy to converse yet enjoy the atmosphere.

We had great expectations for this restaurant given the reviews we have received from friends. Sadly our dining experience wasn't great as we were rushed - four courses stuffed into us or so it felt. Our server broke the cork in our wine and swore when it happened. Then he took my main course plate before I was finished. He didn't give us any suggestions or greater details on the menu like the other servers. Service was poor but the food was good.

From beginning to end, we had a delightful experience. Two things stopped this from being a 5 star food destination. The sweet potato soup of the day was a touch bland and the roasted red pepper puree accompanying my scallops was overly sweet. Still, I would return to the Home Tasting Room.

We shared a few plate and were very happy with the quality; everything was amazing. This is the second time I have been here and both times were beyond happy with the service. The only negative was that the food came all at once despite indicating we wanted to take our time but overall we were very impressed and will definitely be back.

I made a last minute reservation to Home Tasting room giving only 40 minutes notice that they should expect 1 vegan guest. When I arrived my friend and I were seated immediately and our hostess asked who was the vegan. She had already spoken with the chef and they were able to put together a vegan risotto. They also made a carrot and beet soup that I could eat. My friend and I split a bottle of wine which was reasonably priced and tasty. They had a great selection of wines. The dinner lasted about 2 hours as the food does take a bit of time to come out, however that's the way I like to dine when I'm out with friends most of the time! I would recommend this restaurant to everyone and definitely for those that have dietary restrictions

Home Tasting Room is a perfect restaurant for a great night out. We loved everything we ate and loved the sharing plates. We had the scallops, perfectly cooked, the prawn special was perfectly balanced with the sauces and side salad and the pulled ham was the best ham I have ever had it was crispy on the outside but mouth watering juicy on the inside. It was perfection with root winter vegetables in a creamy sauce. We had a glass of red wine, Cabernet called Cult, smooth easy drinking we would definitely order it again.

I know the menu says "tasting plates" but it should say platter. There was 6 of us and we each order a lunch item and 3 tasting plates. There was more than enough food. The pulled pork hock and gnocchi were to die for and the Mac and cheese was out of this world.

went for the first time, with a group for lunch. ordered off the tasting menu so we could share plates. The Beet salad was fresh and well matched with the cheese. Scallops were amazing with the sauteed cabbage. The bison carpaccio was a reallly big hit, we actually ordered a second round! Service was prompt and professional, we were served all our dishes within 15 minutes of ordering. Already looking to go back and try something else!

Great dining experience, it was my first time there after hearing so many great things about the restaurant. Tried quite a few menu items and all were excellent. Our server was attentive and knowledgable. The only part of the night that wasn't great was the noise level was a little too loud due to two larger parties that were also there but otherwise it was a great experience. I would love to go back again.

We choose this restaurant because of the gluten free options for a working business lunch. The food was amazing and the staff was very attentive. We found the pricing to be reasonable. The noise level does get a bit high due to the open concept but it makes for great ambiance as it wasn't too high that you couldn't carry on a conversation. We would definitely go back.

We were given a gift certificate to Home Tasting Room and wanted to take advantage of it. The food was very good. We appreciated the unique choices. Not sure if the Tasting plates were really any different than appetizers. I'm assuming this is how it is setting itself apart from other restaurants but not sure if it succeeded. Only complaint was the fact that it was very warm in the restaurant and I know that if we can't stand the heat we should get out of the kitchen but the kitchen is the focal point of the restaurant. Speaking of the kitchen, we were impressed with how quiet and methodical the chef/sous chef/ assistants worked. We've been to other restaurants where they have the kitchen on display and found it too noisy.

Bad ergonomics (seating comfort, noise level), and what seemed to be a well meaning but juvenile service level let down what could be a good restaurant. The food shows promise and the wine list is small but quite good, the location is great, so it has the makings of a good restaurant. Better tables and chairs (chairs are too low for the table heights), some sound attenuation and more experienced service staff would make a big positive difference.

This was my husband and my first visit to Home Tasting Room and we will definitely think of it again for a special occasion. All of our food items were outstanding. The only negative, was that by the time we arrived (we had a 7:30 reservation), the restaurant was out of the special entrée. We recommend the scallop tapa (to share), the lamb and Arctic Char entrées, the Smores dessert and the Pavlova.

Food was definitely interesting with unique dishes but not as tasty as I had hoped. The sea bass dish was particularly lacking in flavor (perhaps it just needed more salt?). There are no partition walls or other such noise breaks so the restaurant got quite noisy and a bit difficult to converse. Also the restaurant really heated up by the end if the night because the kitchen is right there in the middle of the restaurant and gives off a lot of heat. I was particularly impressed with all of the staff who seemed quite genuine and wanted to ensure we were enjoying our meal. They even comped some of our bill because of the tasteless sea bass.

We recently went here for our annual girls' Christmas dinner, none of us having been here. Overall we were satisfied with our meals, however we all agreed that it was a tad over priced, as we've all had similar dining experiences (i.e. meals, wine, etc.) at other locations that we preferred more. No specific reason why it didn't top our list of restaurants. Food and wine was great and our server was excellent, I'd still return or recommend to a friend, but again, just slightly over priced for what we experienced.
