Home 231 creates a comfortable yet stylish restaurant that offers contemporary home-style cuisine, service and atmosphere. Our chef has created a menu that utilizes local products, ranging from meats and poultry, to farm fresh eggs and seasonal produce. Our food is described as simple and approachable American food with a modern touch. Join us indoors or outdoors on our courtyard and allow our servers to create a dining experience you will remember.

Our outside patio is booked on a first come first serve basis. Making a reservation for the courtyard does not guarantee the courtyard seating, but we do our very best to accommodate all requests. Private parties in the courtyard will move all requests for outside to our indoor dining room.

  • "Really loved it. Just loved the waitress. She was so helpful and attentive. Quite a drink list"

  • "Just love to have a cute, lovely restaurant with consistently good, interesting food in the neighborhood. Love the patio when the weather allows, it is like being in your own backyard."

  • "Food & service are fantastic. We have never been disappointed!"

  • "Our first time here; we were celebrating an anniversary. First, there was no available parking, so it took some time and patience to find a spot on the street. I had made reservations, so I was hoping for a decent table. Instead, we got stuck in a booth in what seemed to be a hallway. I had two (very small) crab cakes, which came with fries and an itty-bitty salad. Yes, it was good, but $29? My husband had a beef dish, which he was quite pleased with. Finally, one bathroom for all the guests? Yuck. Didn't love that. I hate having to kick the toilet seat down from the guy who was using it before me. Not sure if we'll go back."

  • "My wife, daughter and I had a great brunch on Sunday!! Ourdaughterhad the Hueervo Ranchero which was excellent. They were sold out of the Quiche so my wife joined me in having the basic two egg, bacon, hash browns and toast. Not exciting but everything came out hot and delicious, it was easy to tell that there was no lowering of standards with the quality of food. Since this was our first time hear, we look forward to returning for dinner!!!"

  • "My wife and I had a great dinner there for our first visit to Harrisburg. She had the crab cakes and I had the salmon special. Both were REALLY good. Our waitress was very attentive and overall the staff was very hospitable. We got lucky and sat in the window too and had a great view of the activity happening in the neighborhood."

  • "Have been for dinner several times, very enjoyable. Came for brunch, not as impressed. Muffins for Benedicts were dry & hard on bottom, and eggs generally undercooked. We weren't asked how we would prefer our eggs. Hollandaise was texturally great but bland. Coffee-excellent!"

  • "went for brunch, second visit to restaurant. was seated at our reserved time. didn't seem overly busy. wait staff all though very nice was very slow. waited long time for dessert offer and then once the menu was provided long wait to take order andwas long time for food to come. No refill of coffee was offered. Still did enjoy and would return but don't be in a hurry"

  • "This restaurant is a great find. Terrific waitstaff; nice menu; great food; and nice bar. A few table on the front sidewalk and a small patio in the rear. Parking can sometimes be problematic but there are a number of options. This visit via opentable was for Sunday breakfast/brunch. The previous evening I visited the restaurant for their cheese tray which is quite nice and refreshing with a variety of cheese."

  • "Everything was wonderful! Will definitely come again! Only negative was a very loud man sitting at the bar while we were waiting to be seated. He was so loud he was obnoxious."

  • "I took my parents here for Father's Day. The waitress was excellent, very sweet and nice. The food was excellent as well. Keep up the great work!"

  • "We went to Home 231 for our second annual Father's Day brunch. The first experience was much better then out second. The expresso machine was broken, hey it happens, but we got two hot chocolates that came out cold because they couldn't use the hot water from expresso machine. We should have been told this when we ordered or the hot chocolates should have been taken off the bill. Also, the waitress offered us white or wheat toast with our al a carte eggs, so we assumed they came with. However, the toast was burnt black and cost extra. Service was slow. The food was good, aside from the burnt toast and cold "hot" chocolate. Highly overpriced for quality of food on this occasion. Won't be returning or recommending."

  • "Had an excellent Father's Day brunch. The menu was diverse enough for everyone to get what they wanted. Portions were a little small, but perfectly presented."

  • "This place is a tiny gem in a neighborhood in Harrisburg. It is a renovated home, nicely done although seating in the "living area" is better and gives a nice view of the street. The breakfast food is excellent and the service top- notch. Morning cocktails are innovative and refreshing. Had a wonderful brunch for Father's Day."

  • "Fantastic find here in Harrisburg PA. Home 231 was quaint but full of life. The wait staff were friendly and funny. The food was fresh and delicious. The menu had favorites and twists on classic dishes. I had the Huevos Rancheros and loved every bite. One person in our party ordered the special (scrambled eggs with beets and other fresh veggies) and said that it was good. Another person in our party got the crab benedict and said it was the best around."

  • "Truly a gem on quaint North Street in the heart of downtown Harrisburg. Food is superb, wide variety of unique cocktails, service exceptional. You will think you are in the Village in NYC; its that good. Bumped my former favorite brunch spot to a distant second. Rest assured, I will be a repeat customer. "

  • "When I travel to Harrisburg I make sure I get to 231! I truly appreciate the fresh, real food served up at this place! I'm always looking for local, organic, natural, sustainable, etc., restaurants outside of Colorado and finding these type of places in a place like Harrisburg can be difficult. You won't be disappointed if you eat here!! DEEE-LISH and such a cute place!!"

  • "Service was impeccable and the food was phenominal. "

  • "A friend recommended Home 231. First thing you will notice is that the restaurant is located in two combined townhomes, making for a tight fit. We were quickly seated at a window seat, which provided a nice view of the neighborhood. We started with drinks, a glass of wine (looked a little shy) and a Moscow mule (once again shy on the liquor). We started with the cheese plate and Charcuterie plate. For main courses my wife had the fish special after she was told the barramundi was out, I had the ruben sandwich because I couldn't find an entree I was interest in. The broth the fish was in was over seasoned( too much to eat) with pepper and onion. All in all we should have stopped with wine, cheese and meats."

  • "I chose the special (shrimp and scallops) and my husband had the cod. Both dinners were very good. We've been here several times and never disappointed. "

  • "We decided to go to Home 231 for our 20th Wedding Anniversary after hearing lots of good things about it. The food was wonderful and creative. The service was gracious and cordial, but not overbearing. We will definitely go back. Each part of the meal was wonderful and the crowning experience was dessert---wonderful homemade ice cream and excellent donuts. YUM! "

  • "I went for dinner and the food was outstanding. I didn't mind the cost because the quality of the food and service was excellent but it isn't a place where you can routinely go out for dinner. I'd say it is more of a special occasion type place. The lunch menu looked excellent and reasonably priced so I do plan on going back for lunch. I saw one review that mentioned how great their server, Rachel, was. I was so lucky to have her as a server. She spoke well, was very polite, checked back to make sure that everything was okay, was on those drinks for re-fills right away, had a good knowledge of the food but more importantly she had tried the food and could provide addition insight to the intensity of the taste and texture."

  • "Adorable tiny restaurant - well decorated with great service, pleasant lighting and delicious food. I like that they have classic food with a slight twist (i.e: French toast with berry filling and lemon cream). This restaurant is best set up for groups of 2-4, but if you reserve ahead you can get one of the bigger tables (we had 6). We were all full before dessert, but I definitely want to go back to try some another time. Highly recommend! "

  • "My first time downtown Harrisburg and this place was quite a treat! The mimosas were great, the food was very good and the service was great! The parking situation proved a bit tough, but it was a good way to keep the tourists away! We will definitely be back to enjoy Home 231 for brunch again, and perhaps lunch and dinner as well! "

  • "Except my last visit. I had a reservation for 7.15p Saturday nite. Got seated pretty much right away. Drink orders and appetizer order taken shortly thereafter. About 5 minutes later we placed our entree orders. By 8.15 I asked the hostess about our orders. I hadn't seen the server in a while. She apologized and said they had a party of 25 that kept them busy. By 8.30 I was getting ready to leave when our server showed up with our meals. Again an apology for the party of 25. I was not happy, but I wasn't going to yell at the server. He's a nice guy and has waited on me before. They comped our second round of drinks and offered free dessert. Passed on the dessert. The owner should've had more staff on hand for the "other party of 25". "

  • "We visit Harrisburg a couple times a year and try various restaurants. This has been the best food experience in a long while. The menu was varied with many interesting choices. We got an assortment of small plates and salads. Everything was delicious. We dined outside which was nice but a bit noisy with air conditioners running. They had a gas fire lit after dark, but ambience was a little lacking. That being said, I would go back and recommend it to those who appreciate fine cuisine. "

  • "Great dinner find just off the main street in Harrisburg. Excellent food, cocktails, Wine and desserts! We went as a business group of nine, but they were able to accommodate the party size with minimal hassle. Rachel provided excellent service and attention even though we started outside, then had to move inside due to rain. She carried it off with a professional and courteous manner. The food was prepared very well and delivered with just the right amount of time for business discussions. We will return."
