A word from Home 231
Home 231 creates a comfortable yet stylish restaurant that offers contemporary home-style cuisine, service and atmosphere. Our chef has created a menu that utilizes local products, ranging from meats and poultry, to farm fresh eggs and seasonal produce. Our food is described as simple and approachable American food with a modern touch. Join us indoors or outdoors on our courtyard and allow our servers to create a dining experience you will remember.

Our outside patio is booked on a first come first serve basis. Making a reservation for the courtyard does not guarantee the courtyard seating, but we do our very best to accommodate all requests. Private parties in the courtyard will move all requests for outside to our indoor dining room.

  • "very nice experience......it was our anniversary and they made it very special..."

  • "The food was good. It was nice to eat outside but the service was slow and there was really nothing outstanding about the restaurant itself. I was really looking forward to dining here. The food was delicious but there was not really anything that stood out to me about the menu. The service was slow which I am assuming is due to the time it took to prepare food not the servers. Our server was professional and friendly. The bartender was also friendly and made a mean strawberry mojito. I would rate this restaurant as average."

  • "Once again, the food was flawless and the drinks superb. That coupled with great service keep us coming back again and again."

  • "We had an amazing meal on Friday night as always at Home231. We shared the deviled egg trio and the lobster deviled egg was out of this world! One of the girls in our party had the Bronzino special and the gouda polenta was such a great surprise addition. I had the blackened Barramundi which was also delicous, although the potato and scallion cake was a little dry. My boyfriend had the flat iron steak and he loved it, so much that I didn't get a bite! Also our server Mike was very knowledgeable and very friendly and entertaining. He really added to the experience."

  • "Delicious fresh food with great variety. You will find everything from a to die for beat salad, crab cakes, burgers and fantastic fresh fish. They even have amazing French fries! The ambiance is good. We sat in the row of booths in the hallway area - not the best spot to sit in terms of ambiance. But the bar, outside and main dining room all have excellent decor. Very clean. Parking was not an issue for us on a weeknight but I imagine it can be on weekends so plan ahead because this place is awesome! Can't wait to go back again!"

  • "This is our go to restaurant in Harrisburg. The staff is always friendly and the service exceptional. We have dietary restrictions and they are accomodating and go above and beyond your expectations to make your dining experience pleasant."

  • "We have dined at Home 231 on a number of occasions and have always been very pleased. However, on this occasion the dinner was somewhat disappointing. Homemade ice cream was not up to their usual standards nor was the fish entree. Crab cakes had more filler than we would expect in this quality restaurant. Overall we decided that it may be time to take a break and try again in a few months."

  • "This is a shame as the food in this restaurant was very good. It is extremely noisy in this restaurant and it is surprising while it gives a homey feel. We waited one hour for our food to come and were not given even a dessert or coffee to accommodate us. We would not go back although it wasn't because of the food, but the service."

  • "Took a date here for dinner and the noise level was a bit unexpected as a large older group was almost annoyingly loud. The seating is a bit tight so the noise level is even more amplified. We went for dinner and granted, it was a Friday evening dinner service, I would have expected to not have to wait 15 mins for our drink/appetizer orders to be taken and another 45 mins for entrees to arrive. Despite, the less than satisfactory wait times, the food was amazing; the hummus and veggie board was great (the mushrooms especially) and we were both highly satisfied with our main dishes. I had lamb and gnocchi and my date had crab-stuffed trout. Overall, would recommend to others; however, the noise levels were a bit surprising."

  • "Our dinner was great. But, aside from a glass of water, not one thing came with it. Salads, bread, it's all extra, and not inexpensive. I think they could at least offer a basket of bread. And the restroom is a one-holer unisex arrangement. Our dinner was excellent, just really overpriced. Parking is free, if you get there early enough to get a space."

  • "Just love to have a cute, lovely restaurant with consistently good, interesting food in the neighborhood. Love the patio when the weather allows, it is like being in your own backyard."

  • "Our first time here; we were celebrating an anniversary. First, there was no available parking, so it took some time and patience to find a spot on the street. I had made reservations, so I was hoping for a decent table. Instead, we got stuck in a booth in what seemed to be a hallway. I had two (very small) crab cakes, which came with fries and an itty-bitty salad. Yes, it was good, but $29? My husband had a beef dish, which he was quite pleased with. Finally, one bathroom for all the guests? Yuck. Didn't love that. I hate having to kick the toilet seat down from the guy who was using it before me. Not sure if we'll go back."

  • "My wife, daughter and I had a great brunch on Sunday!! Ourdaughterhad the Hueervo Ranchero which was excellent. They were sold out of the Quiche so my wife joined me in having the basic two egg, bacon, hash browns and toast. Not exciting but everything came out hot and delicious, it was easy to tell that there was no lowering of standards with the quality of food. Since this was our first time hear, we look forward to returning for dinner!!!"

  • "My wife and I had a great dinner there for our first visit to Harrisburg. She had the crab cakes and I had the salmon special. Both were REALLY good. Our waitress was very attentive and overall the staff was very hospitable. We got lucky and sat in the window too and had a great view of the activity happening in the neighborhood."

  • "went for brunch, second visit to restaurant. was seated at our reserved time. didn't seem overly busy. wait staff all though very nice was very slow. waited long time for dessert offer and then once the menu was provided long wait to take order andwas long time for food to come. No refill of coffee was offered. Still did enjoy and would return but don't be in a hurry"

  • "This restaurant is a great find. Terrific waitstaff; nice menu; great food; and nice bar. A few table on the front sidewalk and a small patio in the rear. Parking can sometimes be problematic but there are a number of options. This visit via opentable was for Sunday breakfast/brunch. The previous evening I visited the restaurant for their cheese tray which is quite nice and refreshing with a variety of cheese."

  • "Had an excellent Father's Day brunch. The menu was diverse enough for everyone to get what they wanted. Portions were a little small, but perfectly presented."

  • "Everything was wonderful! Will definitely come again! Only negative was a very loud man sitting at the bar while we were waiting to be seated. He was so loud he was obnoxious."

  • "This place is a tiny gem in a neighborhood in Harrisburg. It is a renovated home, nicely done although seating in the "living area" is better and gives a nice view of the street. The breakfast food is excellent and the service top- notch. Morning cocktails are innovative and refreshing. Had a wonderful brunch for Father's Day."

  • "Have been for dinner several times, very enjoyable. Came for brunch, not as impressed. Muffins for Benedicts were dry & hard on bottom, and eggs generally undercooked. We weren't asked how we would prefer our eggs. Hollandaise was texturally great but bland. Coffee-excellent!"

  • "I took my parents here for Father's Day. The waitress was excellent, very sweet and nice. The food was excellent as well. Keep up the great work!"

  • "We went to Home 231 for our second annual Father's Day brunch. The first experience was much better then out second. The expresso machine was broken, hey it happens, but we got two hot chocolates that came out cold because they couldn't use the hot water from expresso machine. We should have been told this when we ordered or the hot chocolates should have been taken off the bill. Also, the waitress offered us white or wheat toast with our al a carte eggs, so we assumed they came with. However, the toast was burnt black and cost extra. Service was slow. The food was good, aside from the burnt toast and cold "hot" chocolate. Highly overpriced for quality of food on this occasion. Won't be returning or recommending."

  • "Fantastic find here in Harrisburg PA. Home 231 was quaint but full of life. The wait staff were friendly and funny. The food was fresh and delicious. The menu had favorites and twists on classic dishes. I had the Huevos Rancheros and loved every bite. One person in our party ordered the special (scrambled eggs with beets and other fresh veggies) and said that it was good. Another person in our party got the crab benedict and said it was the best around."

  • "Truly a gem on quaint North Street in the heart of downtown Harrisburg. Food is superb, wide variety of unique cocktails, service exceptional. You will think you are in the Village in NYC; its that good. Bumped my former favorite brunch spot to a distant second. Rest assured, I will be a repeat customer. "

  • "...Home 231 was wonderful. Great food, good happy hour and the best brunch in Harrisburg. "

  • "A friend recommended Home 231. First thing you will notice is that the restaurant is located in two combined townhomes, making for a tight fit. We were quickly seated at a window seat, which provided a nice view of the neighborhood. We started with drinks, a glass of wine (looked a little shy) and a Moscow mule (once again shy on the liquor). We started with the cheese plate and Charcuterie plate. For main courses my wife had the fish special after she was told the barramundi was out, I had the ruben sandwich because I couldn't find an entree I was interest in. The broth the fish was in was over seasoned( too much to eat) with pepper and onion. All in all we should have stopped with wine, cheese and meats."

  • "When I travel to Harrisburg I make sure I get to 231! I truly appreciate the fresh, real food served up at this place! I'm always looking for local, organic, natural, sustainable, etc., restaurants outside of Colorado and finding these type of places in a place like Harrisburg can be difficult. You won't be disappointed if you eat here!! DEEE-LISH and such a cute place!!"

  • "We decided to go to Home 231 for our 20th Wedding Anniversary after hearing lots of good things about it. The food was wonderful and creative. The service was gracious and cordial, but not overbearing. We will definitely go back. Each part of the meal was wonderful and the crowning experience was dessert---wonderful homemade ice cream and excellent donuts. YUM! "

  • "I went for dinner and the food was outstanding. I didn't mind the cost because the quality of the food and service was excellent but it isn't a place where you can routinely go out for dinner. I'd say it is more of a special occasion type place. The lunch menu looked excellent and reasonably priced so I do plan on going back for lunch. I saw one review that mentioned how great their server, Rachel, was. I was so lucky to have her as a server. She spoke well, was very polite, checked back to make sure that everything was okay, was on those drinks for re-fills right away, had a good knowledge of the food but more importantly she had tried the food and could provide addition insight to the intensity of the taste and texture."
