  • "We love HHB&R! The new menu wasn't exactly our taste...my husband likes a good steak and I love a good vegetarian dish. But the drinks, ambiance, and service is always great!"

  • "I visited Holland House this past weekend for the first time and was very impressed. It has a Restoration Hardware feel with a warm, inviting ambience. It is small, but the space is used well, you do not feel cramped. Cocktail options starting at $6, very unique twists on classics. Presentation was great. Food was amazing! Definitely a great place for a foodie! Prices were very reasonable. Portions were average. The smoked mac and cheese is a must! We added a couple of people to our reservation and management bent over backwards to get us a table quickly. Service was impeccable. We will definately be back!"

  • "Not much of a main course or dessert selection. Goat and Catfish was good; other courses were average. Only 4 types of dessert offered. Food presentation was very good and service was very good. Overall, great experience."

  • "Every time we go to HH we have a fabulous time. The staff take care of you suggesting the perfect drink, excellent food and you feel part of the great scene. I just wish they had more vegetarian dishes. I still love it but there is nothing much for a vegetarian to choose from."

  • "We were a party of 4 and everyone was happy with the starters and entrees. Some of the picky cocktail folks in the group were a bit put off by the lack of basic mixers for drinks, and very limited after dinner coffee/specialty drinks, but overall the experience was a good one. We will be back."

  • "I hosted two friends from out-of-town for our annual Girls Weekend. We decided in Holland House for our Friday night dinner. As described, it truly was casually elegant. From painted wooden pews for seating to delicate chandeliers, there was a warm ambiance upon entry. Our waiter was over-the-top patient with us as we inquired about cocktail and entrée choices. I had trout, which was perfectly prepared. One friend ordered the Pork Shoulder (which was tender and the table favorite. The other friend ordered the Grilled Pimento Cheese Sandwich and did not enjoy it since it was spicier than she anticipated. I mustn't forget the Brussels Sprouts--fabulous! I will definitely look forward to returning very soon to try out the Spring Menu!!"

  • "All the staff are very accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered a drink and after it came, I didn't particularly care for it and they returned it, no problem. The food is incredible. I LOVE the Hot Chicken! The presentation is good and all in all it is a very cool place."

  • "Never been, so didn't know what to expect my first time. Was not disappointed. Good food, great list of spirits. Only problem was some of the staff is very snooty. Like you weren't worthy of eating at their restaurant."

  • "Ted, Ann, Frank & I enjoyed the dinner at Holland House. For snacks, we tried the Hot Chicken (very HOT), Yakitori Chicken Wings (very tasty) and the Bacon-Chorizo Gravy Fries (WONDERFUL). Frank munched on the Catfish & Chips. Ted enjoyed the Brook Trout. Ann ordered the Pork Shoulder (Best Dish). I ordered the HHB&R Burger (delicious). We all tasted the Banana Pudding Creme brulee (Best Choice). Matt was our waiter. He took great care of us and was very knowledgeable with the menu. Rochelle"

  • "The service was outstanding from the host, owner and waiter! The truffle fries were delicious and the side of mushrooms were incredible. The best part though was the cool selection of drinks. Try the El Fuego. We wanted to have a drink at the back bar after dinner but was told it was reserved for a group at 8pm which was a bummer. Overall, very cool place."

  • "If you can put up with a staff that seems a bit overwhelmed at times, the good is worth the wait. Folks have talked up their cocktail program, but their best drinks are typically the liquor poured over rocks. We've had a handful of their cocktails and none of them have justified the often steep cost associated with the drink. The food is the real star, it's just a shame the rest of the supporting cast doesn't reflect that the Holland House kitchen is putting out good food consistently. But when it comes to making a decision to go for dinner, it's hard to get over the fact that eating here can be a hassle."

  • "It's been a long time since I've had such poor service which was so bad it impacted my enjoyment of the very inventive and tasty food. It took four wait staff until one could define one of the ingredients listed in a salad on the menu; our first waiter decided that it was a slow evening and actually left his shift without telling us or anyone else to cover our table, we were asked to box our own leftovers (not a big effort, but for a $100 meal, I expect that this would be covered). Just not a great experience which took away from the creative kitchen."

  • "My wife had the best drink ever - fresh lime juice etc. Alas, no chocolate martinis - need to add to the bar menu but the bartender made her a one of a kind after dinner drink that was delicious. Excellent food, good ambiance. It was fun."

  • "We just had a Valentine's dinner there and were extremely disappointed. It all started with parking, by which I mean, there is none. Then as most places do on Valentines's, there was a set menu and you got to choose one item from each course. This would have been great if the food that came out was delicious or even enjoyable. However our table of 4 was very disappointed in each course. I would not consider myself a food critic by any means but my husband and I have eaten at numerous restaurants in and around Nashville and this is the first time that I felt I needed to do a review. The 2 positives of the night were good atmosphere and yummy drinks. I would not recommend eating there to a friend but maybe to stop in to have a drink only."

  • "I took my girlfriend to the Holland House Bar and Refuge mainly because it was one of the few places we wanted to try that took reservations. We arrived a few minutes early and were seated right away. The noise was loud in the main room, but the host lead us to a beautiful, quiet room with very vibe-y silver wallpaper and smooth jazz playing. The tables in this room were all set for two and it felt like we were special guests of the chef herself. The food was absolutely incredible. Don't expect to get huge portions, but pace yourself and enjoy every bite, because it is delightful. My only complaint is that it was not listed on the website that they had a special Valentine's Day menu that was different than the one listed on the website."

  • "My favorite drink in Nashville was taken off the menu at Holland House. I think it was called the Black Lemon Old Fashion. That is the only negative thing I have to say. I did get a classic old fashion and it was great, but Im sad Ill never have that drink again."

  • "I have always loved HHB&R. I have been going there since it opened. I had my first date there with my now wife, & popped the question to her there. Its a very special place to us. But the one thing we always complained about was the hospitality. We always felt from the moment we walked in we were not "cool" enough to be there. The actual wait staff and bar staff were always very nice but we constantly had a bad taste in our mouth from the front desk staff. First impressions go a long way. We heard that HHB&R had recently done a whole "hospitality" makeover, so we wanted to get in there & check it out. WOW what a difference. We felt so welcomed from the moment we walked in from the moment we left. Cant WAIT to get back there. Thank you!"

  • "This was my second trip to Holland House. On my first visit the food was exceptional for a bar. This time the food was just so so and will make me reconsider another try. The flatbread was good and the drinks were above average."

  • "Food selections were unique and varied. Would have liked an entree without Garlic. No bread was offered. Drink selection was great - Mule was very good. Would have liked to have had Crystal Vodka, but it was not available."

  • "Disappointing we were not informed prior to our arrival that the main kitchen closes at 10pm. As such we were limited to a snack menu for what was supposed to be a celebratory dinner"

  • "I've never had a dish or cocktail from Holland House that I didn't like. The food is always consistently delicious and the drinks are great. The new drink and snacks menu means happy hour all the time! I have ok occasion had spotty service but that does not deter me from coming back here again and again. Make sure to try the bacon and chorizo gravy fries...they will change your life."

  • "No, the wait wasn't long + they're on Open Table, so we got in no problem. The wait was because we had a baby 3 months ago. We've been dying to try Holland House & it was totally worth the wait. EXCELLENT service, FANTASTIC ambiance and INCREDIBLE food. We went for Restaurant Week and all 3 courses were amazing. I had the salad starter, the mahi and the flourless chocolate cake, which all sound pretty boring, but we nothing BUT. Each was divine. My husband had the soup, smoked meatloaf and berry crumble—again each was dynamite and a very special take on basic dishes. only semi-negative was that they sat us in the bar area...I would have preferred sitting in the cute all white area in the upper level. ;)"
