A word from Hoku's
HOKU'S (reservations from 5:30pm - 10:00pm for dinner Wednesday through Sunday and closed on Monday and Tuesday nights) is heralded for its innovative fusion fare which melds Hawaiian, Asian and European flavors. Hoku's is consistently ranked as one of Hawaii's best restaurants.

With a twist on contemporary Island cuisine, Hoku's returns to the basics and revamps the classics. The cuisine is fresh, light, and innovative. The ever-popular Hoku's Ahi Musubi and the crisped whole Island Fish (for two) remain on the menu as local favorites. Ingredients are a mix of fresh locally grown produce and imports from abroad.

Hoku's has a breathtaking beachside setting with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean from every table in the multi-level dining room.

The night at Hoku's was wonderful, the service was very good and professional, the food was excellent. I usually get the rack of lamb but I wanted to try something different, so I went for the rib eye steak. The steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned nicely. Overall the dinner and our evening was excellent, the restaurant was a bit noisy but when a place is as good as this it hard not to have a full house.

Hoku's Sunday Brunch has to be my favorite buffet spot. At $65 per person, I definitely ate my money's worth. They first start you off with a glass of their freshly squeezed fruit and vegetables juices, followed by a buttery croissant topped with a sweet butter-like spread and a deep fried ahi musubi. Then grab your buffet plates and indulge in the all you can oysters, lobster tail, crab legs, sushi, sashimi, lamb, prime rib and more!! This was probably my fifth brunch here, and I have never been disappointed!

Hoku's was a very nice place to dine recently, as we celebrated our wedding anniversary here. The quality of the food is very good, varied menu, nice wine list and great ambiance. The service was good, not great, as I've dined at other fine restaurants in Honolulu and probably had better service. But if you're looking for a place away from the busy scene at Waikiki or Ala Moana and enjoy a nice, quiet atmosphere and nice ambiance with good food, Hoku's is a great choice.

Liked the ocean views; the understated and courteous (not overly familiar) service from traffic control officer, valets, restaurant hosts, to waiter and waitress; & the location (away from Waikiki traffic and crowds). Enjoyed the rack of lamb, sashimi, oysters on the shell, ahi nigiri, miso butterfish, the bread pudding, the bread, & the dark chocolate mousses. The plantation iced tea, veggie-fruit drinks, & deep fried poke musubis were odd. The crab legs in the entree section were dry & overcooked, but the cold crab was juicy & yummy. Wished the attentive service had continued right up till departure (Our service somehow vanished toward the end.) & too bad no one explained what individually prepared dishes were available upon request.

We ate dinner here -- ahi musubi, short rib tempura as appetizers and the fish, tenderloin, and prawns for entrees. They also have a kids' menu - our kids had the chicken fingers and burger. The appetizers were very good and very generously sized. The entrees were good, though not outstanding (which you might expect for the price). Our kids liked the fries that came with their meals (the fries are tasty!) but did not care for the chicken fingers and burger. For dessert, we had the warm chocolate cake -- that was delicious. The service was very good -- attentive, warm and friendly. For the price, not sure if we will go again. Or maybe next time we will just do appetizers and dessert ;)

My wife and I were seated at a window table for our six-month anniversary dinner, and had an awesome ocean view. The service was very good, with attentive staff. After eating at other highly rated (five-star) restaurants on Oahu, I felt a little let down here. The food was good, but not great, and was more expensive than other top-rated five-star restaurants. Given the price and the 'just good' nature of the food, I'm not sure I'd return, except possibly, for the highly touted lunch buffet. The bread and spread was awesome. The fish dishes were ok (a bit bland), but nothing to write home about. The desserts (we had three) were very good. The espresso was excellent.

Everything from the moment you walk in is special. Each person of the staff is attentive, observant, emphatic. They put their soul into the wonderful service and feeling of aloha. The waiters are fantastic, we had two wonderfully knowledgable ladies who were so good. The food is fantastic, inventive, authentic. The wine cellar is deep and special with sincere recommendations that fit your whim. It kind of comes as no surprise since they are part of the Kahala resort which I have quickly come to love.

The room is nice, beautiful view, good service, not too noisy. But, the food is very overpriced relative to its quality or creativity. Not well seasoned or interesting, and seriously pricey ....in the range of $40-70 for an entree.... Loved the setting, but definitely won't be going back.

The food was nice, but not as good as I ordered a month ago. Somehow the beans with the rack of lamb were not as tasty as last time, but lamb was terrific. Service people were wonderful, but it felt like they were busy with others and we kept having to wave people down to clear our table and to order dessert. It seemed as if they didn't have enough staff, but the ones who did come to our table were so personable and nice (Renee, India and an asian guy (don't know if he had a name tag). Beautiful setting.

My boyfriend is a foodie and has really high expectations. We've gone to other brunches on the island before (hale koa) so he was a little hesitant to try something new. HE LOVED IT! he loved the quality of the food, the atmosphere and even compared it to the high quality buffets in Vegas. Over all the miso butter fish, lamb, king crab legs and never to forget complimentary almond pastries were a really big hit! Although the service was a little slow they were happy to provide kids cups for my boyfriends daughter and were really nice. We were very pleased with this brunch.

Was disappointed with service. It was not up to par for a restaurant of this caliber. Our water glasses were filled only when we were almost empty. Drinks were offered not at the beginning but at the tail end of the meal. The food was limited but the offerings were excellent. Bread was limited and muffins and breakfast breads were not on the buffet. Could not find butter for the bread that I did find.

Our waiter, Tony, was one of the best we've ever had. His attention to detail was outstanding. He never hovered but was always present when needed. At one point he even brought fresh ice water because he feared the room was too warm. The other staff in the place seemed to be equally trained and hold customer service in high regard. The food was excellent...we wished the selection had been a bit more broad. We were (perhaps unfairly) comparing this brunch to the brunch at the Royal Hawaiian (which sadly was canceled in January of 2014). In terms of service this was just as good as the RH but the food selection lacked in comparison.

Crowded in the aisles and not much room to move around the buffet but great to have freshly cooked hot items. The lamb was great and you don't always get to have that at buffets. I really liked the waitress bringing complimentary buttered croissants. The only bad thing was that they charge for every glass of their drinks like guava. Halekulani gives all refills free.
