HOKU'S (reservations from 5:30pm - 10:00pm for dinner Wednesday through Sunday and closed on Monday and Tuesday nights) at The Kahala Hotel & Resort is heralded for its innovative fusion fare which melds Hawaiian, Asian and European flavors. With a twist on contemporary Island cuisine, Hoku's returns to the basics and revamps the classics. The cuisine is fresh, light, and innovative. The ever-popular Hoku's Ahi Musubi and the crisped whole Island Fish (for two) remain on the menu as local favorites. Ingredients are a mix of fresh locally grown produce and imports from abroad.
Hoku's has a breathtaking beachside setting with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean from every table in the multi-level dining room.

"Hoku's is one of the best restaurants on Honolulu and the Kahala Hotel is a charming oasis outside of the congestion of Waikiki. The food and wine we had were great. The whole fish was an excellent entree for two. Service was superb."

"The duck was cooked like rubber. The lamb in the puff pastry presentation is both pedestrian and somewhat off-putting. Had to send the duck entree back only to be advised to re-select something "quick" from the menu to keep the rest of the table from waiting. Have eaten at the finest restaurants in the world and personally been served by Daniel Boulud and Alex Alex Stratta. Hoku's is not even in the running with top tier chefs. The wine list is completely uninspired. Should close more days to get their act together. The Veranda should not be lumped in with Hoku's as it is open Mon-Fri and serves drinks plus a menu from both Plumeria and Hokus in the afternoon and evening. The Veranda is lovely."

"it was a very nice setting with view on the ocean. the food however was average for the price. we had a whole fish that was simply served - baked in a tempura-like batter. the vegetable/rice coming along with it were ok but a little like what you would get from a normal chineese takeout. For the price, one would expect better/more special food.
we do not regret our experience, it was my wife's birthday and we wanted something special - and the setting was indeed special. And to be fair the appetizer was also indeed special - we ordered the poke wrapped in a ball of rice and then deep fried

"First time I go to Hoku's and 1st time I've had brunch there. I would compare this to the Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton brunch. Food was fresh, high quality and delicious. So happy that I stumbled on it as I had originally intended to go to Plumeria which is the restaurant below. Oh and bottomless mimosas are the best, it's just enough to make you want to go there every Sunday."
