A word from Hokkaido Sushi and Hibachi
“Hokkaido” is the name of the second largest Island located at the north end of Japan. That’s where our restaurant’s name originated from. We are dedicated to serve the best sushi and Hibachi steaks in the Oakbrook area. We have highly trained chefs that are here to entertain you and your guests, as a well as prepare the freshest food with all of our homemade sauces and seasonings.

The foods prepared at our hibachi are made to order and customized based on what our guests desire. Come for freshest sushi around, including such varieties as salmon, tuna, squid, scallop, sea bass, and many more seafood options.

Hokkaido uses the certified Angus Beef, it’s the best Angus brand available. It’s a cut above USDA Prime, Choice and Select. Ten quality standards including abundant marbling ensure every bit is exceptionally flavorful, incredibly tender and naturally juicy.

I had the hibachi filet & garlic shrimp, my brother had hibachi shrimp & steak and my daughter had tuna steak & hibachi shrimp, We had so much food that I had enough left over for a full dinner. It was so good. They made a special martini for my daughter as a happy birthday and after we ate they even brought her a perfect piece of pineapple and some palate cleansing Sorbet. It was so good that I simply can't say enough good things about this place. I am one of the most pickiest of eaters so 5 stars from me is huge huge praise.The people who work here are super nice and very friendly, it has a great family vibe. We will be going back. I also enjoyed the fish swimming in the floor."

  • "In terms of price and overall quality of the food, this is the best hibachi place I have ever been to. The chefs are funny and do some nice tricks. The wait staff could use some improvement however. They are slow and forgetful. If you order anything that is not typical, like steamed rice instead of fried, they tend to forget to bring it to you. If you don't mind an average wait staff, this is a great place to have a great time and eat some amazing hibachi food"

  • "This is a beautiful place that is not easily visible from the two main cross streets (Roosevelt & Ardmore). The food is outstanding, the service impeccable, the rooms gorgeous. I worry that it was virtually empty both times I've been there for lunch. Perhaps business is better in the evening. My friends and I are looking forward to many return visits. Meanwhile, I recommend more and bigger signage to encourage motorists to try it."

Overall sushi was okay, but the price was more towards the higher end. I would come back because the service was great and the restaurant was very nice. Maybe to try the hibachi next time though."

  • "I like to get as many points as possible using Open Table; therefore, I usually look at the 1,000 restaurants which is how I found Hokkaido. It was a great find. The food was delicious and the service was good. The only thing I didn't like was that fact that you don't get all of your food at one time. I guess having food cooked fresh right in front of you has its advantages and disadvantages. the pineapple and mango sorbet was also delicious. I would definitely go back."

  • "This restaurant suffers because it is sitting next to a buffet and people are confused that it is jointly owned. I finally gave it a shot two weeks ago and it was great. I just recently went back a second time and again the experience was awesome. Food is outstanding, high quality, cooked to perfection and plenty of it. Service is great and I plan on making this a regular stop on my dinning out journeys."

  • "I normally love this restaurant, but they ruined my Mother's Day. My family felt rushed from time of seating. The habachi chef was NOT entertaining, but rushed to perform at next table. Food was horrible. I felt cheated since I chose this restaurant to celebrate my first Mother's Day without my mom. My kids were trying to cheer me up and they were upset. I hated that they spent that much money on that service. I was very disappointed. "

  • "Came here in January and thought it was great. This time almost everything was great. I ordered golden shrimp and scallops. The shrimp were very tasty but the scallops were very thin- think a regular large sea scallop cut horizontally in 4's (?) plus they were very very salty- I ate 2. Maybe their scallop purveyor was out but IMHO they shouldn't offer them if they are not up to par. I will come here again. Drinks, sushi & the rest of our food was very good. Our chef was fun. Overall a good experience. "

The only thing I was disappointed about was that we were so early we were the only 3 diners there; it would have been fun to see other diner's food prepared. Us being the only ones there probably gave us specific attention so I can't really complain. The restaurant itself is beautiful; my daughter fell in love with the aquarium IN the floor. The bathroom was clean & nicely decorated. The server was wonderful; didn't leave us for too long but also didn't hover over us. Our chef was awesome, doing tricks specifically for my 7 year old & even repeating some so we could take pics. Only thing that was confusing was my GPS couldn't find it so I had to call. Overall an A+!"

  • "This is an absolutely gorgeous place, with delicious food and attentive service, BUT we couldn't FIND it! We could not see it from the street and there is no street-side sign to point to it. I had to call for directions after we went too far west. Its location behind Anyway's is less than ideal. We will definitely return for another wonderful lunch, but the owners need to draw roadside attention to it. I should also mention the luncheon menu is very reasonably priced. It's a real find - once you find it!"

Looking down at the floor you see a huge built in fish tank you walk on that's wrapped around the bar with nice fish in there.   • "This was our second time to the Hokkaido Hibachi Grill and again, it was a wonderful meal. Delicious food (ample portions, we all took food home), beautifully prepared sushi (delicious), and even a personalized photograph and pineapple boat for the Birthday Boy. We brought 2 couples with us and both also said they'd be back - as will we. The grill chef was humorous, talented and cooked every dinner to order. I tried the tuna steak this time - what a great choice that was! HIGHLY encourage you to try this place. Great value for the experience you receive. It's set back from the road so it's a bit hidden, but hopefully people will find it. And you can't beat the "fish in the floor." So neat."

  • "While Hokkaido is kinda like a Benihana or Domo 77 or Japan 77 with the grill tables, the chefs and the wait staff make the difference. The food prices are also a little more affordable than those are. The food was excellent, it was very flavorful, and was served in nice portions You will not leave hungry. The chef was great, obviously a good chef, but was very funny and put on a great show while making our food. Will definitely be back."
