A word from Hokkaido Sushi and Hibachi
“Hokkaido” is the name of the second largest Island located at the north end of Japan. That’s where our restaurant’s name originated from. We are dedicated to serve the best sushi and Hibachi steaks in the Oakbrook area. We have highly trained chefs that are here to entertain you and your guests, as a well as prepare the freshest food with all of our homemade sauces and seasonings.

The foods prepared at our hibachi are made to order and customized based on what our guests desire. Come for freshest sushi around, including such varieties as salmon, tuna, squid, scallop, sea bass, and many more seafood options.

Hokkaido uses the certified Angus Beef, it’s the best Angus brand available. It’s a cut above USDA Prime, Choice and Select. Ten quality standards including abundant marbling ensure every bit is exceptionally flavorful, incredibly tender and naturally juicy.

  • "This is an absolutely gorgeous place, with delicious food and attentive service, BUT we couldn't FIND it! We could not see it from the street and there is no street-side sign to point to it. I had to call for directions after we went too far west. Its location behind Anyway's is less than ideal. We will definitely return for another wonderful lunch, but the owners need to draw roadside attention to it. I should also mention the luncheon menu is very reasonably priced. It's a real find - once you find it!"

  • "It is a very nice experience since food is cooked in front of you... but portions were not as big as i thought... service was not at its best... most importantly, the decoration was really poor... if you are going in a small group, you share the table with others which leaves you with very little space to sit in addition to the inconvenience of sitting next to strangers for dinner"

Looking down at the floor you see a huge built in fish tank you walk on that's wrapped around the bar with nice fish in there. But overall, this place is great for all occasions and is able to accommodate them. This place is a must see!!!"

I liked that they had served our vegetables and meat fairly close together ~ some habachi places serve everything one at a time ~ I prefer ~ having more choices on my plate at a time."

  • "While Hokkaido is kinda like a Benihana or Domo 77 or Japan 77 with the grill tables, the chefs and the wait staff make the difference. The food prices are also a little more affordable than those are. The food was excellent, it was very flavorful, and was served in nice portions You will not leave hungry. The chef was great, obviously a good chef, but was very funny and put on a great show while making our food. Will definitely be back."

  • "This was our second time to the Hokkaido Hibachi Grill and again, it was a wonderful meal. Delicious food (ample portions, we all took food home), beautifully prepared sushi (delicious), and even a personalized photograph and pineapple boat for the Birthday Boy. We brought 2 couples with us and both also said they'd be back - as will we. The grill chef was humorous, talented and cooked every dinner to order. I tried the tuna steak this time - what a great choice that was! HIGHLY encourage you to try this place. Great value for the experience you receive. It's set back from the road so it's a bit hidden, but hopefully people will find it. And you can't beat the "fish in the floor." So neat."

  • "We had to wait for our table eventhough we made a 9pm reservation and then we werent even seated at a hibachi table which was the sole purpose of chosing the restaurant. they were understaffed which meant our server (altho he was extremely nice and apologetic) was very behind, messed up our order, and none of the tables around us were bussed our entire dinner. We have been here before and LOVED everything about it but they just were not prepared this time for a night as busy as valentine's day, which was sort of disappointing. our server promised to remember us and asked us to come back which i thought was nice, and of course we will. he's just lucky we are both in the service industry and can relate. others would have been very mad."

  • "Our dinner at Hokkaido was excellent. We sat at one of the hibachi tables, so we got some entertainment along with a great meal. Chef Billy was friendly and accomodating. The Valentines deal was great, allowing us to sample both the sushi and hibachi for under $80 as a couple. This is still a new place, so I would expect some growing pains. Service was maybe a 7/10 at best, although I believe our waiter was quite new. Overall, I prefer this grill over the local Benihana and will undoubtedly return for a future meal."

  • "The only thing going for this place is good food. We were seated at a table right away, but did not even get our soup or salad for almost an hour. We had to ask the wait staff at least twice for everything we had ordered. The service was so bad that a whole group of people got up and left after waiting for a whole hour and not getting even their soup or salad."

  • "I read some reviews online about this resturant. The resturant itself has a cool vibe to it. We had 5 people in our group for Hibachi. The waiter came by promtly to take our drink order than didn't return for another 20 minutes. When he returned, we ordered in case it would happen again. The staff has a hard time understanding English because we had a few questions about the menu and they could not answer them. Once we order the cook came out and started the dinner. We never got our soup and salad that was part of the meal. The serving sizes were small conpaired to the price. The food was okay...a little tastless. I would not recommend nor return."

  • "The decor in this restaurant is amazing! The front room has a bar and a sushi bar, not to mention the fish tanks in the floor!! We opted to sit in the Hibachi room as we haven't done that in a while. We ordered sushi and hibachi and couldn't complain about anything. For the price of the hibachi, I couldn't believe how much food we got, definitely worth the money! The service was outstanding as well, we truly loved the experience and met a few new people at our hibachi table! We will definitely be back in the near future & next time we hope to bring some friends! Great spot!"
