If your looking for an intimate space for up to 20 people, our private dining room is the perfect setting, or if a smaller business meeting is the agenda let us facilitate a private room with an LCD projector and screen. For groups of 20 to 40 guests, Hinterland’s lounge is the perfect space with its own private bar for reception and plenty of seating for a “sit-down” dinner or passed hors d’ oeuvre party. Also, the entire restaurant is available for private parties of 40 or more people for more formal wedding receptions, holiday parties, business meetings or for any occasion.

Our lounge is a great place to retreat for a handcrafted beer,… cocktail or an exceptional glass of wine. Hinterland also offers sidewalk dining. While Hinterland’s reputation for great atmosphere has made it a favorite among locals for romantic dinners, business meetings and wedding parties, its amazing food and service keeps people coming back again and again. "The establishment provided valet parking could've been a nice touch but it costs $10. The admittedly busy area has plenty of parking available in adjacent lots for $5. The Gastropub needs to validate the parking stub and cap the cost to the customer at $5. The cost of parking & the high price of many of the menu items make it doubtful that we will return."

"Hinterland is without doubt a place that respects food. Everything is prepared with imagination, expertise, and care. If we have a criticism, it would be that the menu could be a little better balanced. It leans to the hearty side ~ not for the light or vegetarian eater, although our salads were decidedly fresh and piquant. We had sensational service. Wished we'd had time for the panna cotta, but had to dash to make it to the theatre. Next time!"

"We recently dined at the Hinterland Gastropub for the first time and were very impressed! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, made great recommendations from their impressive wine list. We sampled a flight of Hinterland's beers, and all were wonderful. The food was beautifully prepared and proved to be some of the best we've had in Milwaukee... the entire experience was terrific. We will be back!"

"Overall we would give it a B. The vibe is nice, the staff was not stuffy or overbearing but appeared to be a little anxious maybe? The bread is terrible and a waste of time and tongs. The food is good, however a little overworked, sometimes less is more, and way too expensive for what you are eating and too be honest the menu is a little limiting to want to come back, would rather go somewhere with more non-meat options for less money. I didn't order an appetizer, salad or a drink because I didn't feel like spending $75 on choices I was just ok with."

"Great spot for both special occasions and business dinners. Adventuresome menu prepared exceptionally well (veal brains as an appetizer? Yes!) with an emphasis on sustainable and local products. Great vibe in the room and the lounge area. Hinterland located in the Historic Third Ward, the Soho/Los Feliz/Wicker Park of Milwaukee. But unlike NY/LA/Chi, the Hinterland is not so preciously hip that that the service staff feels they need to be anything but friendly and gracious. Bottom line: modern atmosphere, walkable neighborhood, outstanding (if a bit pricey) food and well-stocked libations, including the Hinterland's own craft brews."

"I had the Andouille Crusted Alaskan Halibut and it was amazing. My husband had the Wood-Fire Grilled Yuppie Hill Pork Chop that was fantastic. This was our 3rd visit and this was by far the best meal we've had."
