the atmosphere is very nice, beautifully refinished interior, service was excellent. Unfortunately the food was only OK. I had a Cod special that was very confusing, olive tapanad that over powered the delicate flavor of the fish and artichokes that were not properly prepped left with hard chewy leafs that were a harsh contrast to the fish and other components of the dish

we were looking for a special place for a celebration dinner. Hilltop 1892 was the right choice! we both thoroughly enjoyed our dinners, our wine, and our dessert. and our waiter was attentive and engaging without being invasive. we had a lovely evening!

I have eaten there several times now and enjoyed the food. This time the lamb dish was interesting, but the mound of lamb was obviously pre-made and not heated up very much as the "fat" was still white in the center. Being paleo, i ate it anyway and was too engrossed in conversation to send it back!
Regardless, it's great to have something in Novato that's a little upscale. They have done a great job of renovating, but now we need to see it succeed, and well. I invited a friend who said she'd been a few times and never enjoyed it, but chose well this time and found it to be better than she had experienced.
The staff have always been great. Well trained and attentive.
