Hill Country Barbecue Marketgreat BBQThese guys know what they're doing. Good stuff...not cheap, but pretty good...6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGo here for great barbecueThis was not my first nor will it be my last to Hill Country. My friend and I had the brisket lunch special which was just fantastic. I suggest the lean as the moist is too fatty. Staff is efficient and friendly. You can't mind waiting in line to pick up your order if you go here.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMHill CountryWe were 15 minutes late for our reservation, but the staff was still nice and willing to seat us. It was our first time there and our server explained how everything works, and one of the guys in the marketplace recommended the Sunday special to us which was less expensive and still allowed us to try a bunch of different food options. This place gives you TONS of food. Definitely only go if you are ready to eat! You won't leave hungry and you'll probably be taking leftovers with you. Overall it was a fun, casual environment, and I'd recommend it to a friend.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMmmm...brisketThis place has the best brisket you'll find outside of Texas! Great beer selection too! We happened to go on a busy Friday night so our waiter wasn't the best, but the food was worth the mediocre service.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMbest brisket in DCAmazing bbq along with delicious sides. Fun atmosphere. Great live music.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAs close to TX as you'll get in DCSimply good, solid barbecue. No more and certainly no less5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Music&Good Food, Poor ServiceThe music was fantastic! My only complaint is the service: We arrived and stepped up to the host stand to claim our reservation. We received a blank stare and no answer from the 4 employees standing at the host stand. We stood confused for a few moments until the host mumbled something and basically ran downstairs. Our waiter was okay, and we paid our tab so he could close out our table. He spent a full 5 minutes inspecting our signed credit card receipts at the table next to my face. When he realized how well we tipped, he walked away. It was honestly the most unprofessional and rude behavior. I waited tables for years in college, and I never acted this way. I probably won't return despite the awesome show.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFor BBQ foodiesDon't be put off when you read the menu and see they apportion pork ribs 1 or 2 at a time. They are larger and meatier than the standard half rack at the local "all-American" cuisine. Patterned after the serious smokehouses in Texas, HCB pulls it off fairly well even if the smoke stains on the wall are painted on. The food is authentic, not glopped over with sauce, and a good smoky flavor. So we have Texas style BBQ in DC served by a lady from Serbia - who bythe way was outstanding with her help and friendly connection. Go figure! But go to eat.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBest BBQ in DC!Best BBQ in DC by far! Reminds me of TX BBQ I get at home, only with DC prices5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food! You can't beat the the brisket, pork ribs or pork belly and the sides are to die for! Do yourself a favor and visit!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing! Best brisket outsideAmazing! Best brisket outside of Texas. All the side dishes were great too. We had the mac and cheese, baked beans, green bean casserole, and potato salad. We happened to sit upstairs, but they usually have live music downstairs, which is always fun.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMSome of the meats are great; Some of the meats are great; some ok. They could also use a couple more; pulled pork being the most obvious omission. Service this time was weird: our waiter kept asking us about dessert while we were still obviously eating our meal.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMBest brisket found in DC soBest brisket found in DC so far by this Texan. Other meats and sides were pretty good but were nothing to write home about. Everything is pricey for BBQ, but that's DC for ya. Great selection of Shiner beers on draft. Service was a bit absentminded but very helpful once you could get their attention.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is back to the basicsThis is back to the basics barbeque. Great pork, ribs and beef selections, served in a no-frills setting. Can get crowded most nights after 6 PM , so come early if you can.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAs with most restaurants,As with most restaurants, it was way too loud in the dining room. Conversation was quite difficult. That being said, the food and concept were awesome and I would go again but not for a work lunch.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMBurnt Orange NationI'm a born and bred Texan and this place fulfills the Central Texas BBQ craving. The meats were very well done. I would recommend the moist brisket and the chicken. The pork rib was heavily spiced with pepper and not alot of sweetness. There is even have Blue Bell ice cream! The pecan pie was okay, nothing too exciting.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat atmosphere, great foodGreat atmosphere, great food and wonderful staff - friendly and helpful. A meal for 2 fed 4 of us more than comfortably with some left for the doggie bag!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA must tryAn informal kind of way of ordering your food, but fun and OH SO TASTY!!!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMMEATLet me just say, MEAT. The food was really good, and it was quite an experience.
The BBQ spices were super good - very smokey. We tried most of the offerings, and the 'moist brisket' was definitely my favorite.
Good sweet tea also.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMVery very good barbeque servedVery very good barbeque served in a rustic and unique setting that allows the diner to test a variety of meats. The Shoulder was highly recommended and it was very good, but our serving also contained an end piece that was all gristle. All in all an excellent pre-game place for dinner.2/5/2013 12:00:00 AMHead for the Hills!Nice to be able to get a reservation for 4 Inauguration Weekend! Great, tender, tasty BBQ (it's a Texas place, so go for the beef). Had the moist brisket and a short rib and was plenty of food and was just delicious. Great sides too -- excellent collard greens.1/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
