Meat fest, Texas styleCome hungry! All is really good, but if beef and pork are not your thing, there's also chicken and turkey. The beef ribs are humongous and tasty; brisket, too. The banana pudding is to die for, as is the chocolate pudding with mild anjo chile. They serve Blue Bell ice cream, but the heavy duty freezing it goes through to be shipped from Texas dulls the taste. Go with a group and relax.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious BBQThe food was amazing. We ordered two of the sampler-type plates and were not disappointed. Highly recommend the moist brisket, so tasty and rich! Even though we were stuffed by dinner, we still made room for the desserts, which are also not to be missed. The S'mores cupcake and the decadent chocolate chip cookie were real standouts.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBeef is greatA beef is very delivious. Brisket moist is the winner. Prime rib is also pretty good. I give service for 3stars because we have to a selfservice mostly.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMYeeHaawI am Texan replanted here in the city and I've been coming to HCB sense its doors opened, If somebody never has trying Texas style BBQ this is the ONLY place I always recommend the other BBQ places are wanna be's there is no comparison to HCB slow cooked Meats and the friendly southern hospitality is a Big winner for me.
Combine some real Texas style BBQ some southern style hospitality and atmosphere too Boot you got yourself really great time
I will always Two step my way back Hill Country BBQ for all that...
YeeHaaw5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMHill Country Karaoke AWESOME!We had a great time at Hill Country for their Tuesday night karaoke. There is a good mixture of good and so so singers so everyone felt comfortable giving it a whirl. The waitstaff was friendly and helpful and quickly fixed a discrepancy in our bill.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a fun place with reallyThis is a fun place with really serious BBQ. Come hungry.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMLot's of fun. Take your ticketLot's of fun. Take your ticket and line up for amazing barbeque. Love the moist brisket, ribs, corn pudding. Have never had room for dessert.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed the whole scene! TheEnjoyed the whole scene! The moist brisket and the chicken are notable.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMVisitor from SwedenVery good BBQ-food, a little difficult to understand the way to order food for a visitor from an another country but very amusing to talk about afterwards!! High music which made it a little difficult to converse.
Would recommend it to friends for the experience of eating Texas-style!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMMade my stay in NYI am very often in NY adn it is a ritual that I have to go to Hill Country at my 1st day. I like the "butcher atmospare", the great food and I miss such in concept in Germany.
Well know the camp fire baked beans. My wife is always jelaus to me when I visit Hill Country.
Looking forward to my next vist .
Christoph5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMTHE FOOD IS PHENOMENAL!!!THE FOOD IS PHENOMENAL!!! My only complaint was that the food (albeit delicious) was warm and not hot, especially the side items. Such a great place, though!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you like Texas BBQ...RUNIf you like Texas BBQ...RUN do not walk to Hill Country. I have been here abotu a dozen times and am never disappointed. I have tried alomost everything, but my two favorites are The Short Rib (TRUST ME, you can't even finish one!!) and the Moist Brisket... there is none better!!!) The MAC & ChEEZE could only be made better if the added Bacon. Definitely on my A list!!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAfter recovering from theAfter recovering from the oddity of not having plates, my dinner guests and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the food.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMSo meaty it's obscene!Hill Country is the very epitome of American waste and excess... and I love it! Generous helpings of meat in all its shapes deliciously barbecued to juicy perfection. This is the place you want to take your annoying vegan cousin with the Liberal Arts degree she never seems to finish. The one thing that holds back the 5th star is the sides that seem a little overworked and could have been better. As of now many of them feel like an interchangeable mush. Just wash down the meat with bear served in mugs instead (no really, they are mugs) and don't bother with letting any greens, beans and slaw take up valuable stomach real estate.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMPork ribs were really juicyPork ribs were really juicy and also loved the brisket. Relaxing casual atmosphere at lunch.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMHaving had the real Hill CountryHaving had the real Hill Country BBque experience in Texas, I think this restaurant did a great job in replicating the real thing. Enjoyed the chicken and brisket and the sides were delicious. The serving were also very generous for the price.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWent for a birthday celebrationWent for a birthday celebration for someone who loves barbecue. It was great.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place to listen to musicGreat place to listen to music and eat BBQ. Can't wait to do it again!!!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMHill Country's food is superHill Country's food is super but the Barbecue portions are so enormous that we have to vote for a special occasion. No service to speak of: food is orderd at a counter in this share-what-you-can menu of beef, pork, chicken, ribs, sausage piled on brown paper sheets, and you can carry it back to the table yourself. Sides are fresh and delicious, all meat is excellent quality, just the quantity is overwhelming. Will definitely be back with a hungry group next time... Also late night live music downstairs, fun, but you'll be too full to dance...4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was great however theFood was great however the beef ribs were very disappointing! Weighing the ribs does not account for the lack of meet on them. That makes is not worth to get the ribs! Better quality and quantity of meet on the bones at Dallas BBQ!The live Karaoke was lots of fun! Just a bit to loud but fun!4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMMuch better than the realMuch better than the real thing in Texas' Hill Country, i.e. Austin and surrounding vicinity. Pork (ribs, chops, and belly), beef (ribs,
shoulder or roast beef and prime rib), chicken and brisket served moist or lean (get the "moist") are outstanding as are the sides.
Desserts, especially the Blue Bell ice creams are not to be believed and you may not have room for them anyway. Huge beer, bourbon and tequila selection along with great mixed drinks and a 2-for-1 special on Tuesday nights. A great place with great food and even has live music after 9 PM.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food, real TexasFantastic food, real Texas BBQ. Great sides and cocktails too.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMBetter than its Texas counterpartsI've been to Austin, the actual epicenter of Hill Country in Texas, and at a number of their best pit barbecue restaurants...drum roll...Hill Country in NYC surpasses those places! Hill Country on 26th Street does them all one, two, even three times better with terrific pit barbecue meats; daily specials and incredible desserts that are not to be missed; 2-for-1 cocktails on Tuesdays along with a barbecued whole hog; Wednesday's is mouth-watering chicken wings; Thursday's and weekend nights offer the creme de la creme, pork belly with a chili rub. Often overlooked are slices of prime rib and pork chops. You absolutely do NOT have to order by weight; ordering by slices or by the piece is perfectly acceptable and even preferable.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe brisket is awesome!! IThe brisket is awesome!! I could eat it all day. Love the environment and the quality of the food. Delicious!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome! Great no AmazingAwesome! Great no Amazing BBQ. Enjoy everything about this place from the food to service. I'll definitely visit back soon.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything that we ate wasEverything that we ate was amazing. Wait for the meat line to dwindle by ordering drinks at the table first. Pay with your server for expedited exit. Ribs, brisket and chicken were all cooked to perfection. The hardest decision may be which sides. Over order and take it home.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMMoist brisket RocksMoist brisket is best I've ever had... Fantastic smoke aroma in the room mirrors the smoke in the brisket and chicken. Ribs were fine but pork spare ribs were still a bit fatty and not as fully rendered as better ones in Texas... Moist brisket is a MUST for any who like BBQ3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a great experience;Always a great experience; also they were very accommodating as we switched our group size several times (the night of our dinner). Lastly, always what's on special -- usually worth trying.12/6/2012 12:00:00 AMBest BBQ I've had in NYC so farI'm amazed how difficult it is to find good BBQ in NYC. Luckily, my search might be over. I opted for the all you can eat option which is a great value. The Ribs did not disappoint. I've gone through my whole life hating brisket until I had it here (the moist version), it erased the memory of my mom's brisket. Everything was cooked exactly as it should and all the sides were great except for the Pinto Beans (unless you like REALLY salty things). My friend really liked the cole slaw and said it reminded her of her mother's. I think she said it had apple in it. Only 4 Stars because of the Service, staff is friendly but aren't attentive at all. I got tired of waiting so I gave up on ordering another beer and opted for the check instead.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
