We just recently moved here to Albuquerque so we thought for our 10 year anniversary we would do something special. The tram ride and the scenic view at the restaurant were memorable and wonderful. The food was also memorable but in a humorous, gross kind of way. We will not be returning to the restaurant to eat even though if the food was better we would. If the food improves we will bring friends up there in the future so that they can see the amazing views. The service was good and our waiter was attentive.

For the prices I was expecting the food to be excellent. The food is bland. The chef completely depends on the sauces that come with the food for the flavor. Service was great!! Views also breathtaking!!

Many have noted that the food does not live up to the lovely views. Given that, we were pleasantly surprised with how nice our meals were: the bacon-wrapped pork was excellent; the crab cakes fluffy; the posole was, honestly, a bit too spicy. Overall it exceeded our expectations.

High Finance is a fabulous place, not only for the fantastic and unequaled view of the city, but also for surprisingly good quality food and good service. There are many restaurants that cost more and offer less than High Finance. It is a must for visitors to ABQ, and for personal special occasions.

We have been to High Finance many times; we save it for special occasions and for when we have out-of-town visitors. Sometimes it's unbelievably good; other times it's been just so-so. This last time was on the low end, toward the bottom. The service was terrible, the vegetables looked dreadful and were completely unappetizing, the menu was very limited, and even items listed on the menu were unavailable. If this were my first time to go, I wouldn't go back.

The scene from this vantage point is wonderful and so is the ambiance; the food is however a different story. I ordered a chicken parmesean and it is served on a bed of fettucini. The pasta was obviously not drained adequately and there as water swimming at the bottom of the plate - Eck! For the prices at this restaurant you would think correctly preparing a pasta dish would be "basic". I've encountered this problem before at places like Olive Garden but I am not paying Olive Garden prices at High Finance. Get it together!

I have lived locally for over 30 years. I have always said, with this restaurant, you pay for the view as the food is marginal. I was disappointed that this time, once again, my opinion has not changed. It's VERY pricey for the caliber of the food you get....AND the view is phenomenal, as are the sunsets. I say go for Happy Hour!

I had very high expectations for the restaurant as anticipated. The Pros are the gorgeous views and nice girls at the door. The cons were the food I got the New York strip and needless to say it was nothing but a piece of fat with a little bit of meat quality is poor all profit for them. The second issue was it took about 15 minutes to recive our drinks after ordered. But on a positive note the cheesecake was amazing. Nothing worth bragging over.

What a spectacular restaurant! Worth the $15 ride on the tram to get to the top of Sandia Peak and visit this fine restaurant. Nice wine selection. Not a huge food selection - but enough to chose from. However, what I had was wonderful - the fillet mignon with red wine reduction. My husband had chicken parmesan - he said it was OK, but I think he wished he ordered what I had. Watching the sunset then seeing the lights of downtown Albuquerque come on was great. Would have like a window table, but they seemed to be mostly tables for 4. And the place was full, so we got a table for 2. We still had a pretty good view Service was spotty. The waitress was pleasant and tried , but she seemed a bit overwhelmed at times.

This is an Albuquerque experience not to be missed! The tram ride up and views are breathtaking. The food (crab cakes, NY strip, Duck in orange ginger sauce) was delicious. The service was friendly and fast. Probably deserves 5 stars but we had to wait 40 minutes beyond our reservation for a table only for two! This might have been easier to accept had we been with a large group. Worse, with a full bar there was no adequate waiting area. Lots of room on outdoor deck but nowhere to sit. With bad knees and having to stand that long the wait became painful. Benches or seats should be added.

I am a local and I took some out-of-town friends up for a nice, different dinner. Even with reservations we waited over an hour to get seated, the waiter was cordial but seemed like he wanted us to rush through dinner and leave. He didn't even offer us desert or coffee after dinner. The food took about an hour and was not impressive. I've had better food at "The Range Cafe". I was very apologetic to my guests for the poor service and bad food. I will never have dinner there again nor will I ever recommend anyone eat there. Sorry but that's the truth.

Our group of 10 were served in first class style. Lauren, the head chef, visited our table to see that all was well. We each ate a variety of selections and everyone agreed that theirs was the best, exquisite and delicious. After a beautiful sunset ride in the tram, the lights of the City below made a lovely, romantic backdrop as we enjoyed good food, service and friendship. A definite stop for the end of a wonderful trip.

The food was absolutely delicious. We had a group of 9 people and everyone raved about their dinner. I had the steak with red wine reduction and it was the best I have had in years. It's not every day you get to dine at the top of a mountain. The High Finance restaurant is a must visit for special occasions and/or out of town visitors. The menu entrees vary in price from $20 to $40, so it's not cheap, but it's not the most expensive restaurant I've visited either. Try a cup of their Green Chile Stew. Spicy New Mexico goodness!

When we made our reservations we were told to be there 30 minutes early and we were...the restaurant had a person who came out to the people in line to ride the tram and took the ones with reservations at the restaurant them out of the line and had them wait in a special location...when it was time for our dinner reservation we were placed in from to the line. When we arrived at the top of the mountain we were directed to the restaurant where we were greeted by a friendly attendant...the rest has to be experience, the view was breathtaking and the food and service were great.

We dined at High Finance during the Balloon Fiesta. It was worth the tram ride up and the wonderful dining experience we had. We were on the tram just before sunset and the ride up was a hoot. We witnessed a beautiful sunset and saw the fireworks from the Balloon Fiesta while we were eating our Fabuless meal. I usally order wine with a nice dinner but found the list packed with overpriced California wines which I'm not a big fan of. We both started with the Green Chile Beef Stew and it was Fantastic. My wife had the Salmon and I had the Prime Rib that was on special that evening. Both were cooked perfectly and the side veggie's were just ok. For dessert we split the Brownie and they knocked it out of the ballpark.

Seating was on graduated levels but for a restaurant being at the top of the mountain, it was difficult to see the city lights past all of the other customers and the deck rails outside. I requested a window table for our anniversary celebration but was sat towards the back corner. Otherwise it could have been a more romantic setting.

High Finance is worth the effort of getting there, but be aware you can't just drop in. We were visiting Santa Fe and stopped at the restaurant on our way to ABQ for the balloon fiesta. Waited in line almost 45 minutes, then the ride up took another 20 -- if you're doing this, get there early. Once at the top, the view, food and service were outstanding. Definitely recommend it for a special occasion or for something different. If you're from out of town, as we were, don't miss it. FYI: The tram plus menu makes this a pricey meal, but we had made a restaurant reservation so we saved $5 each off tram fare. Also, in reply to our question, the waitress said staff must ride the tram to get to work. We tipped generously and hope you do too.

We booked three weeks in advance. Scheduled for a Thursday before the start of Balloon Fiesta on Saturday. We waited a half hour and no sign of a table. They had overbooked, including a large tour group. We finally asked to see the manager and were given permission to eat at a bar table. They were apologetic, tossed in a free appetizer, but we missed the sunset and were frustrated. We did have a great waitress in the bar that helped turn things around. In the end, the food was good and the waitress a pleasure, but in the future will skip High Finance the week before the Balloon fiesta.
