Diner Reviews
  • "We enjoyed Lawrence. He was very attentive but not intrusive. He took all the teasing my friend dished out with a smile. He made the evening very enjoyable."

  • "This was a great ending to the day. Was there about 20 years ago and things are just as good as they were then (except the prices are a little higher of course). Will recommend to all."

  • "I was very happy with our waiter however i was not impressed with the food. The appetizer took a while to come out but after it did it was only about 3 minutes later that the main course came out. This was not enough time at all to eat the appetizer. Our steaks were over cook and had a very burnt crisp appearance. After spending $30 for the tram just to get there and it being so over crowded I dont know that i would return again."

  • "The ride up was fantastic with the bright sun shining on the mountain. We walked on parts of the trails and loved the different views. Our waiter provided great service. The drink menu had a lot of fun choices. We left as the sun was setting and the sky changed many times on our ride down. A unique experience."

  • "The Prime Rib and New York Strip meals were outstanding. A red wine was offered as a special price and was good choice, but not served at the proper temperature (too warm). Initial seating was at table next to the stairway to restrooms and servers frequently passed by. Asked to be moved to another table. The second table was very wobbly and the server had to correct the problem. Not off to a good start. However, once those issues were corrected, the dining experience was enjoyable with good service a delicious food. View is spectacular with ride up to the restaurant on the cable car. This is our second visit and would return again."

  • "The monk fish and prime rib were delicious. Great things to choose from on the menu. So much better than your average dinner date. Our server was great and our food came out fast. I cat wait until we go back."

  • "Took an out-of-town guest who really enjoyed the restaurant and views associated with the natural setting. Tram ride is a bonus but for the evenings don't forget to bring a jacket for the walk between the Tram and restaurant."

  • "We rode the tram and hiked the Northern Crest Trail for 3 miles roundtrip before dinner. We were seated on time at a table that, like most tables, provided a great view of the sunset. When the sunset was just perfect, I slipped outside for some high quality photos. Everyone was snapping pictures, creating a party atmosphere. The food and wine were very good and not too expensive given the location."

  • "We made reservations for our wedding anniversary, asking for a seat by the window with a view. The Hostess attempted to seat us by the bar, and I objected, pointing out other tables along the windows which were available. We were told to wait on a bench for one of those tables, and when I objected to that, I was told that she did not want to overwhelm the waiter by seating us at one of the window tables too soon. I told her to seat us and we will be patient for the waiter to get to us. The waiter arrived promptly at our table by the window, and provided excellent service. We enjoyed the food, and the weak Margaritas, and the view, until a rowdy bunch, who obviously should have been seated by the bar, was seated right next to us."

  • "The tram ride is a little pricey but the view is spectacular. Dinner was perfect. Our waiter was courteous and helpful. The food was cooked perfectly. An overall great time. One more thing checked off my bucket list."

  • "This was our 2nd time at the restaurant. Maybe we hit an "off" night-really disappointed. We were seated near loud, obnoxious guests. Had a long wait until a server approached us. No bread or rolls offered; standard in comparable restaurants. Salad wasn't delivered until after the entree when the server asked if there was anything else needed. Food was fair; nothing special. We repeatedly had to ask for water refills. Coffee refill never offered. We tried to ask but server ran right past as we called him. Finally got more but just before the last tram was leaving so it was pointless. Next time we are in NM we'll ride up the mountain but won't dine at High Finance. We felt ignored and our special occasion celebration was spoiled."

  • "the food was good - decent selection, good service, atmosphere inside restaurant was nothing special. Face it,you don't really go for the food, you go for the view! We were there at sunset and the view was amazing and well worth the (could be scary 2 1/2 mile) Tram ride up to Sandia Peak. reservations a must - even gives you a discount on tram ride. one criticism - clean the bathrooms - open windows or something, to get rid of that public restroom smell..."

  • "Ethan was our server and did a fantastic job! This was my son-in-law's first visit to New Mexico, so I select High Finance for the view of the city and the great food. We had a great time!"

  • "We go to High Finance for our anniversary every year. We always have reservations and are always seated at a four-person table with a great view. We then generally thoroughly enjoy our food, regardless of our choices (although the ribeye, "oscar style," is our favorite). This visit was significantly different. We still had reservations; however, we were seated at a tiny two-person table directly in the line of waitstaff and other customers at an awkward corner junction. Oh, and we had no view. We asked to be moved and were informed that the only table open was a four-seater with no view. We were okay with this, but then both of our rib-eyes were under cooked and lacking in garnish. Overall negative experience."

  • "This restaurant is amazing. The decor, the feel, the VIEW - woah. Fantastic. The service is great, the food is delicious. I ordered salmon with risotto and a vegetable medley. SO GOOD!!! The desserts looked divine. I got a slice of some sort of blueberry crumble thing with marscapone in the middle. OMG my new favorite thing."

  • "This is by no means fine dining but for being on top of a mountain, it is really quite good. I would not come here to have a great meal but it is a nice overall experience (tram, mountains, view, etc). As there is not very much to do in Albuquerque, this is a nice activity for a few hours."

  • "This was truly a memorable experience. The view is spectacular and the restaurant experience, the greeting unpon arrival to all the service staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The food was well prepared and price value was there. I would highly recommend this restaurant experience. Take a jacket with you so you can enjoy a walk on the deck to see the city lights. It is about 35 degrees cooler on top verses at the base."

  • "The destination is incredible. The food is OK and service was adequate. There are a lot of difficult logistics in running a good restaurant in such a location."

  • "I was in town for just one night and thought that this restaurant would be a nice, romantic choice. It was awful. They told us to arrive to the tram 30 minutes early, which was not long enough. It was extremely crowded and we ended up being 30 minutes late to our reservation. Still, when we arrived we were told there were no tables available so we would have to wait. Except there were tables available.... some of them unbused and some of them were simply empty, so perhaps it was a staffing issue. When we were finally shown our table it only had one chair, the hostess had to go find a chair at another table. I also found the restaurant's cleanliness to be suspect (food on the floor, absolutely disgusting bathroom, multiple unbused tables)."

  • "Overall the time I spent at High Finance restaurant this past Saturday was amazing. I wanted to treat my girlfriend to something special before she leaves for college and the first thing I thought of was dinner with a beautiful view. The only place to find this beautiful view in Albuquerque is most definitely at the top of the mountain. Although my girlfriend was a little disappointed with the service and the food. She had the chicken Parmesan and did not enjoy the meat. I had a NY strip steak which was rather delicious but my vegetables were not fully cooked and my potatoes were cold."

  • "My niece and I had a lovely dinner on a Friday evening as we watched the sun set. She is only 10 years old, and this was a special occasion, but she was pleased to be given a choice of adult or child menu. She accepted the adult menu and enjoyed being treated like a grown up throughout the dinner. The hummus appetizer was beautifully presented and very tasty. The caesar salad dressing was nicely spiced and the romaine was exceptionally crisp. Our filet mignons were perfectly cooked and the sides (garlic mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes) were flavorful. However, the cheesecake dessert was a little bland and I would not recommend it. Overall, an excellent meal, beautiful view, and acceptable rates considering the unique location."

  • "My husband and I came here for dinner one night while on our honeymoon. The amazing views were our main reason for heading up there. We requested a table by the windows and were seated at table 25 which was perfect! The sun was going down and the ambiance was just spectacular. The service was great (had read a few reviews that noted poor service and was a bit concerned to start). Our server was very attentive! The food was good, husband had the duck which was excellent, I had the ravioli which was a bit rich but fine. To anyone visiting Albuquerque this really is a must do!"

  • "The trip on the tram and the view from above is fantastic, but skip the meal at High Finance. The menu is pretentious and food is pretty awful. My dessert was still partially frozen, cake very dried out. My entree was undercooked pasta with obviously frozen vegetables, very much like not-very-good school cafeteria food. The waiter was pleasant and service was ok, but the prices are very high and the menu leads you to expect at least fresh ingredients. A big disappointment."

  • "Rocky start. Should have seperate lines for sight seers and diners. The ride up was amazing! Beautiful views, guide up was funny and informative. Restaurant was a bit cold, which made food cold, waitress was not very attentive, maybe announce when the tram arrives and departs? I think diners with reservations should have priority on the tram. We were not sight seeing, and had to fight to get a spot going back down. Very different from a few years back! Overall a good time, with great views!"

  • "Saw broccoli and cheese soup listed on sign board when we entered. Sounded so good. We both ordered it. Waiter came and had 2 cups. Placed mine on the table. Clearly wasn't broccoli cheese. He said, oh, they changed the board. I asked him what the soup was.. he said he didn't know.. so, he actually brought us soup we didn't want and was just going to serve it to us. wife's filet was really rare, not medium. They put chipotle in sweet potatoes, didn't list it on menu..manager said chef changed it a couple weeks ago, and others have complained... manager didn't offer to discount meal...will NOT go back.."

  • "A group of 6 of us were visiting from out of town so we had to go to the top of the tram for the experience. I read reviews on several sites, some not very good, and wasn't really expecting the food or service to be that great. We had the spinach and artichoke dip, bruschetta, salads (I had the Greek and it was good), and all ordered either the prime rib or filet, followed by desserts. Everyone was beyond satisfied and we left full. The views and tram ride were both outstanding. Don't believe the reviews on other sites about it being overpriced. Very reasonable. Our waiter was very attentive. Cheers."

  • "We had read the mixed reviews and come down firmly in the five star column. The food was well prepared, sophisticated and subtle. The service was as attentive as you could want. The sunset was as scheduled:-). What more could one want?"

  • "The food, drinks, and service was great but I was surprised and a little disappointed at how casual it felt despite the price tag! My husband and I were celebrating our first anniversary and had never been here. We were the only ones not in jeans and a t-shirt! I guess that's just Albuquerque for you. We will probably return for lunch or drinks but will choose a more quiet and romantic place in town for our next special occasion. You guys should think about at least suggesting a dress code!"

  • "We checked into the Sandia Resort and Spa and my wife and I had a spa day, followed by a tram ride up to the top of Sandia Peak. We had reservations for 7:30 P.M. and arrived at the bottom of the tram at 7:00. The ride up was informative and the views just kept getting better as we ascended to the 10,000+ ft. peak. The wine list is not expansive, but decent. The menu is very small, but what they do, they do well. I had a strip steak ($31) and my wife had a filet ($35). Neither was the best steaks we had ever had, but they were very good. The strip steak did have some gristle, but was large enough that after stripping that away, I still had more steak than I cared to eat. Sunset occurred from about 8:15 to 8:45 and was SPECTACLUAR!"
