High Cotton - GreenvilleWonderful ExperienceMy first time to the Greenville Falls Park Area. Beautiful. Somehow Greenville has figured out how to get upscale households to move to the city. High Cotton is right in the middle of all of this. Food and service were great.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat night outMy wife and I celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary at High Cotton. We had not eaten there before and wanted an open, downtown resturant close to River Falls Park that had great food. High Cotton met all our expectations. The only thing better than the food was the service. If you eat there ask for Donnie.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat find in downtown greenvilleI would highly recommend High cotton, I surprized my wife for our 29th anniversary. we went for brunch aand we very pleased. The food was excellent, the staff was verty attentive, and we didnt feel rushed at all. We will be back6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat as AlwaysWithout a doubt the best in Greenville. They never cease to amaze.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMNever a disappointmentWe have celebrated 3 of the last 4 anniversaries at the High Cotton and each time was just as good or better than the previous. The staff is excellent and you never feel rushed.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial Date nightHad a wonderful special date night! Will be going back for sure!6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat find in a fun part of townFun and interesting menu. Good beef and fish. Chef has a nice flair with the presentation.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary CelebrationsEverything about the experience here was wonderful. The hostesses were very
Friendly. The wait staff was courteous and provided quick service. The
Food was simply DEVINE!!! We loved our experience and hope to return soon!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had another great experienceWe had another great experience with lunch at High Cotton Greenville: excellent food and drink, friendly service and attention to every need. I had a wonderful Prosecco cocktail and the seafood salad with great shrimp and lumps of white crab. One other plus of this HIgh Cotton: we love the tables overlooking scenic Reedy Park. Finally, there was a mistaken "no show" on our OpenTable record since we were 15 minutes late.... Management of both HC and OpenTable handled this issue quickly and pleasantly and we appreciate this from both agencies.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst visit a SuccessHad thought High Cotton might be too high-priced for our retiree budget, but found it most reasonable and pleasant and a lovely spot to bring an out-of-town guest -- so reasonable, in fact, that we ordered wine with our lunches.
There was no hostess as we came in, which made us wait. We had a reservation, but two parties ahead of us were seated before we were. Otherwise, the wait-staff was friendly, not intrusive but available. We were allowed to linger after we had finished dining, and there was no hurry to vacate our table.
Nice Southern Hospitality!5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful eveningWent there for the first time and was very pleased. The happy hour drinks were top notch. Dinner was fit for foodies. Faves amongst our group of four were the seafood salad, shrimp and grits, succotash and pecan pie. Best pecan pie ever. Must pair with the recommended tawny port. Very reasonable for the quality of the food and atmospher e. Only complaint is a small one, waitstaff had problems with making sure everyone had all their silverware a few times. But otherwise, waitstaff was great. One party member ordered upside down blueberry cake and it was very dry. When we told the waitress this, she brought a piece of pecan pie for our guest and took the dessert off their bill. We live in Charlotte and it was worth the trip. we will be back!5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMLivin' in High CottonMy wife and I had a memorable evening at this great restaurant. The people were friendly, food was delicious, the atmosphere was absolutely great. I highly recommend High Cotton as a great place to have dinner while you view the river.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial occasion brunchMy wife loves the French toast and the REAL maple syrup. The grits are great and the attention is second to none.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMNice lunchLunch was good; not as impressive overall as
The Charleston restaurant. But a pleasant enough
Experience nonetheless.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMOkService was great food was good nice place would recommend after a few other spots in Greenville. Not first on the list though.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMA, but not quite A+Cocktails, appetizer, soup, salad - all excellent. Shrimp & grits - outstanding, rich & creamy with just enough spice in the sausage. Deserts awesome (pecan pie w/bourbon vanilla ice cream, & twice baked carrot cake). Only disappointment was the NY Strip, a little underdone which I could deal with, but a lot of fat, and a nasty vein running through the middle. The edible parts were delicious, but there was a lot that wasn't edible.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome experienceVery nice atmosphere, service was was great, food was outstanding. Portions are small, price is high but well worth theexperence5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience, as usual, but - -High Cotton is our favorite Greenville dining spot and Mother's Day brunch was outstanding. As requested when making reservation, a table by the window overlooking the river and Main St. was promptly provided. Server was cheerful and took excellent care of us. Grilled salmon could have been cooked a little more but we discussed with manager who reviewed it with the chef. We will be back.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've eaten at High CottonWe've eaten at High Cotton many times. Their brunch is probably the best in Greenville and you get great views of the river and street scene too. Their menu is getting more adventurous than a year or two back and that is a plus but there is always great service, good food, and a really attractive interior.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's DayThe only issue we had was that we were not seated promptly, even though our reservation was at 11:30 AM. The service was excellent and the food delicious. We love this restaurant for Sunday Brunch.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFun Place!!Great atmosphere and food, service is slow, they do nothing fast at this beautiful restaurant. The overall atmosphere is so nice it doesn't matter. Food is outstanding. Looking forward to going back.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMNotable Greenville DiningHigh Cotton never disappoints. The Food is always good, the wait staff excellent, the hostess accomadating and the view superb. We enjoy the restaurant especially prior to a Peace Center show. It makes for a wonderful evening.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGraduation lunchHigh Cotton is probably even better than my review on a normal day but we inadvertently dined there during a big art festival and with unexpected crowds of people. Our party of six was seated at our reservation time and when we explained we had a time issue for graduation (because of the parking issues with the art festival and crowds), our server managed to stick to it, which was very impressive considering the number of other large parties at the same time. The shrimp and grits were delicious and the view and atmosphere and gracious service made a special occasion lunch memorable.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Place for "Pre-show" dinnerBefore a show at the Peace Center... good food selection.. vegetarian plate was terrific and trout was cooked to perfection. Service was impeccable...5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary CelebrationWe chose High Cotton for our wedding anniversary dinner this year. They started us out with a great champagne toast and the meal ans service were exceptional. We enjoyed our quiet river view.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ExperienceSix of us had a wonderful meal with great food and excellent service. Loved the Scottish salmon special.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful dining experienceWe loved our dining experience at High Cotton. Service was excellent and personable. Our table had a perfect view of the Reedy River. There was a side dish special of cauliflower and grilled peaches that we'd love to know how to make! It was delicious. I would definitely recommend the restaurant to others, and will be returning there for future dining pleasures.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNew Executive Chief Is OutstandingWe are frequent diners at High Cotton Greenville and are pleased to report that the new chief from Charleston and his new menu is an excellent enhancement of an already very good restaurant. It was prom weekend in Greenville and the younger generation showed great taste in joining the older generation Peace Center goers for fine food!
My wife had the North Carolina Trout and declared it wonderful and I had two appetizers: seafood salad with bib lettuce (that must of been fresh from the field that morning) and quail with corn stuffing that was crisp on the outside and moist on the inside.
Our server was very attentive and helpful to all the tables he served, all of which were warmly received by the guests.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dining location!Despite a rainy evening, the open layout of the restaurant with high ceilings and glass windows captured plenty of light and brightened the atmosphere. There's a cozy and warm feeling as you dine, as if you're longtime friends with those dining around you. The friendly, attentive service caters to your needs. The food is also delicious, making simple staples more flavorful and sophisticated. I ordered the duck and blueberry salad and the red trout, all of which was phenomenal. For dessert I had the blueberry cake with honey ice cream which was also spectacular! If you're looking for a nice evening out and not on a budget, high cotton is a great choice!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for any occasionHad dinner there for the past three annual trips to Greenville. Looking forward to my next visit!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent place for brunch.Excellent place for brunch. Would HIGHLY recommend to anyone that is in the Greenville office!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed my dinner. ServiceEnjoyed my dinner. Service was a bit slow. Had to ask for bread twice before receiving it. The restaurant was not that busy but server lacked giving us attention. May have been because there were only 2 of us. Will try again!!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial gem in two Wonderful citiesWe always dine at High Cotton when we are in Greenville or Charleston! Crab and eggs Benedict was very good ; eggs just right. Bacon was excellent w high fat but really good. Mimosa was average nothing special needs a champagne with more bubbles. Steak was cooked nice; rare as requested. Good corn bread; sweat and salty. Really nice live music3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMDrove from North of AtlantaDrove from North of Atlanta and met our son who came from Boone NC. Went for lunch on Easter Sunday. Beautiful atmosphere, nice bar and friendly service. Very limited menu on this particular day, but most entrees were unique. I had rabbit stew, which was not warm when served, but was heated at my request. Our son ordered the shrimp and grits and was disappointed in the severe lack of grits in the dish. I think he left hungry. Lovely park across the street which we wandered around in after lunch. All in all, we would go back again.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love "High Cotton"and willWe love "High Cotton"and will always be happy to plan our trips through the Greenville area so that we can enjoy the excellent food and service it provides, along with the bright, pretty surroundings on the bank of the Reedy River and park. Cocktails are always carefully made to order. For our lunch visits, the she crab bisque is usually ordered around the table-we all love it. Salads and sandwiches are tasty and full of wonderful things= locally sourced and beautifully prepared.
