  • Special Events & Promotions: For the 10th year, High Cotton will partner with Communities in Schools for a special three-course lunch in honor of Administrative Professionals Day, Wednesday, April 23, 2014. Communities in Schools will receive 100% of the proceeds from the lunch.

    Guests will enjoy a celebration of tastiness with a three-course menu for the event. The lunch is $25 per person (gratuity not included). The full menu is available online. Lunch reservations are available from 11:30am to 2:30pm. Reservations are required and can be made online or by calling 843.724.3815.

    Communities In Schools of the Charleston Area, Inc. is a nationally accredited 501 (c)(3) nonprofit dropout prevention agency that surrounds students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Celebrating its 25th anniversary, CIS currently serves more than 13,000 students and their families in 30 schools in Berkeley and Charleston Counties.

This is truly a fine dining experience you will not forget. We enjoyed our cocktails, appetizer, dinner, and deserts. The two of us got out of here for $120 plus tip. It was definitely an expensive meal, but well worth it for a special time. It was a very charming restaurant. We enjoyed our bacon wrapped rabbit loin served on a bed of pimento cheese grits."

  • "My wife and I were celebrating our first wedding anniversary and were very pleased. Our server was outstanding, the food was great as well as the bottle of wine we had for the occasion. We were even given a wonderful dessert for our special night. Only thing that was weird was when we arrived the hostess didn't have our reservation that we made online. I showed her the confirmation email on my phone with correct date and time, then they found us in the book for the following night...I think they eventually found the correct email reservation. Other than that, everything was perfect. We will be back, but might call to make a reservation instead of the online option. Thanks."

  • "The food was delivered to our table with such speed that we were saying we were having "fast food" when should have been having a nice relaxing dinner. Once we ordered, the appetizer was on our table within 3 minutes. When they cleared those plates, the entree was brought within 1 minute. Meanwhile, the host kept coming into the dining room with an iPad, looking at each table and checking things off. He obviously was keeping track of how fast each table was progressing toward turning the table over. I'm sure many restaurants keep track of the same thing, but in a subtle manner so you don't even realize it is happening. The iPad checker, in addition to the fast delivery of food made us feel very rushed."

Side orders were also very good, and provided a selection to suit everyone's taste. Our waiter was courteous and friendly and provided excellent service. This was the best of all the meals I had in Charleston. It's on my list of top restaurants in the country."

  • "If you are looking for a place for a special occasion or just a nice meal, then you can't go wrong with High Cotton. The food and the service are consistently excellent. Reservations are recommended as they are always busy, but there is some seating at and around the bar. You can be dressed casually or go with a jacket and tie and not be out of place. I would not wear jeans. The entree prices are on the high side, but the menu emphasizes local ingredients and everything is fresh. There is an extensive wine list if you wish to purchase a bottle and there are wines available by the glass although that list is more limited."

We expected a big dining room and got a small more intimate room with just the right amount of sound from the small music combo in the next room. Three of the party ordered Low Country Boil and all three loved it. One ordered the Scallops and thought they were very good. Two ordered the beet salad and thought it the best they'd ever had; one ordered Mussel and clam chowder and liked it and one ordered the Caesar salad and liked that, too. We declined on coffee and dessert as we were too full for anything else--we cleaned our plates."

Our entrees were exceptional ,the dessert was made twice, and still not made correctly.(molten lava cake) Since it was my birthday, that was a disappointment. The service was Ho-hum. The server gave more enthusiastic tables she was serving, but less attention to us.(2) She did the right things, when requested, but was very inattentive, and lacked enthusiasm/interest in our dining experience.We are Maverick customers, and looked forward to any time at High Cotton. Our dinner check was over $150, so I don't know why the service was so low key."

  • "This was our second time here, and it was even better than the first. The food is beautifully presented. Last time I had the lamb, but this time I had the duck. The duck was perfectly seared on the skin side to render the flavors without leaving a fatty layer, seasoned beautifully, but not overcooked through the interior. Melt in your mouth is tough to pull off with duck, but they did it. Next time I'm going to try the rabbit loin. My girlfriend gets the filet mignon every time but tries different sauces; there are several to choose from. Atmosphere is incredible, old world style. We had a table by the window looking out on Bay Street; feels like its 1870."
