  • "Overall very good. Great steak. Unappetizing presentation, however..........very stark white plate with piece of meat and tomato slice. A little colorful garnish would be an improvement. Oh........and don't expect a Caesar salad if you order a Caesar. There is nothing about it that will remotely remind you of a true Caesar salad. Great wait staff."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner last night at Hibiscus. We both ordered the pork entrée (which was outrageously delicious) and our server brought us a free lamb ribs appetizer because he was concerned that the wait for the entrees was too long! Awesome. The lamb ribs were also fantastic. The cheese plate was delicious. We commented to our server that the berry preserves on the cheese plate were delicious, and we asked if we could buy a bottle. Our server returned with an entire new bottle compliments of the chef! Awesome again. This restaurant is one of our very favorites because Hibiscus goes beyond being a great destination for food - they make you feel at home."

  • "This was the first time we dined at Hibiscus. First thing we noticed was the rock music playing which was not expected but a great change from other places. Waiter was excellent, service attentive but not overbearing like so many other places. We started off with a cheese board, all from local suppliers, it was very good. We had the tile fish and scallops, both were very good, small portions. The tile fish was done with the trout prep rather than what was on the menu, prep was great. After desert we stopped at the bar for another cocktail, they are great. We'll be back!"

  • "My husband and I came to Hibiscus for our wedding anniversary dinner based online. New to Dallas. The lamb ribs on from the appetizer selections was very good. Everything else wasn't that exciting. I ordered the scallops, and my husband got the ox-tail. His dish was better than mine, but nothing captivated our attention nor our tastebuds. I also didn't like how there wasn't any acknowledgement of our anniversary during the evening from the hostess to the servers. I put it in as a note with the original reservation. Dallas is also a very diverse city, yet you wouldn't know it sitting in this restaurant. The chocolate cake for dessert was a disappointment as well. Tasted frozen and didn't warm it up. Overall, we won't return to this place."

  • "Second time my wife and I have dined there for our anniversary and both times it has been perfection. Their chefs always have new, unusual items which are always wonderful. I would suggest that this is the place to just let go and try the most unusual item on the menu, cocktail, salad, appetizer, or main course. Also, this is the only place that usually as my favorite single malt, Texas own Balcones. I also like their selections of wines by one glass or two glasses which is great for a couple who needs different wines for different entrees."

  • "Friday night crowd was steady but not overwhelming. Food was great and the wine list surprisingly comprehensive. The waiter was attentive but not annoying, even though we lingered through an after-dinner drink. We sat in a booth near the bar and front of the house, so we got a good chance to people watch. Crowd was mixed, some younger, some older, some groups of women. All were well dressed, no t shirts and jeans that I can remember. This is one of my favorite bars, because the bartender is really knowledgeable; true to form my cocktail was perfect. We had the pork and the scallops and both were tasty and well presented. The pork portion was too much for one. We also split the shrimp appetizer, which is enough to be an entrée."

  • "Great food. Interesting specials and the drinks were pretty awesome. We had an early reservation, six, so it was quiet when we arrived and easy to talk. Was really busy by the time we left at 8. We noticed that the early crowd was "smart casual" but as time went on you saw a lot of long sleeve shirts and jackets. It's pricey, so be prepared."

  • "This is one restaurant where I'm not afraid to try new things - like Crispy Lamb Ribs (appetizer). They were outstanding, and I didn't even think I liked lamb. We had Toybox Tomato and Bibb Salads - again outstanding. Then we had Colorado Lamb Saddle (yes more lamb for the non-lamb eater); it's big enough to share. We also had a side of Mac & Cheese (best M&C around). Finished with Strawberry Shortcake Trifle - good, but personally, the Icebox Pie is the best dessert option. Herman is a great waiter - very knowledgeable."

  • "The food we had at Hibiscus was delicious, especially the foie gras pate, the beef tenderloin and the rhubarb dessert. And once our waiter warmed up, he was great and very generous with his service. Also my basil cocktail was fantastic!!! Two reasons for not giving Hibiscus 5 stars. Firstly, the atmosphere is just not what I was expecting. With a name like Hibiscus, I was expecting light, airy tropical feel, not the very dark, heavy decor that is there. Secondly, the chocolate cake for dessert was incredibly disappointing. Maybe a chocolate molten cake or something more refined would better suit the rest of the food serviced. And finally ... please, there is no need to have a tv!"

They maintain an extensive wine list and great cocktail menu and the food choices are wonderful. The Mac and Cheese side is delicious...one of the best I've tasted. The desserts are a hit as well. I would like to try other options, but I can never seem to pass up the chocolate cake...big enough to share with others at your table and so decadent (a chocolate lover's dream)! Hibiscus is a classic mainstay in Dallas."

  • "Dinner at Hibiscus on Saturday with two out of state friends. A first time visit and we all thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Really liked the restaurant, and even though we sat right at the back of the bar section we did not feel "out" of the action. From unique cocktails to the fish special and rhubarb tart - all was excellent. Service was good, and at the right pace for us (meal lasted two hours). One for our "will return" list. "

  • "So this Hibiscus is not some exotic light weight flower of a restaurant! They cure all their own meats in-house for the charcuterie that changes daily. They specialize in game meats as well. We had bison flank and Lamb Saddle for our entrees. They were cooked perfectly. The lamb saddle could have fed two people. In fact. we took half home and ate it for dinner later that week! The waiter did an excellent job pairing the wine with our meal. This is our 3rd visit to Hibiscus and definitely will not be our list."

  • "We came to Hibiscus for the natural foods from local, trustworthy farmers, but we were delighted with the fabulous dishes, great ambiance, and excellent service. The Windy Meadows chicken was the best chicken we've ever had. The fries (& fondue) and wedge salad were absolutely perfect. We enjoyed seasonal vegetables we'd never heard of before, and were delighted with these new discoveries. We've found a new favorite restaurant!"
