Hi-Life Restaurant & Lounge is one of the Upper Eastside’s most popular and longstanding neighborhood restaurants (est. 1993). Hi-Life's 1930's decor is the backdrop for restaurant & lounge classics like flame-grilled steaks and hamburgers, broiled and seared fresh fish specials, bountiful "Big… Bowls" of pasta and entree salads, and last but not least a Sushi/Raw bar. (Hi-Life was the first NYC restaurant to install a traditional sushi bar in a non-Japanese restaurant setting in 1993. Expertly prepared sushi & sashimi at Hi-Life is a natural extension of the classic Raw Bar one might expect in our 1930's environment.) Hi-Life also serves a "traditional Eastside brunch" that features fresh squeezed juices, complimentary blueberry muffins & cinnamon toast as well as a 2.95 brunch cocktail deal. In the warmer months Hi-Life opens all the French doors along Second Avenue to provide an inviting "cafe society" experience. Continued

"I have been to hi life a couple of times and enjoyed myself, this particular experience was very underwhelming. The service was poor to fair, food was fine and drinks were ok. Our server did not know the happy hour specials or the daily drink or food specials. Everytime we asked a question he would have to go and ask someone else. I was with 6 other girls and we consistantly had to wave down our server to order another round of drinks or apps. Our food came quickly and was correctly ordered but we were not checked up on once. We asked for change and he didn't bring us change although the gratuity was already added into the check. I wouldn't say it is the worst experience I have ever had but definitely not one of the best."

"Hi-Life is a friendly neighborhood meeting spot for singles and families.The bar is lively the restaurant has an extensive menu with something on it guaranteed to please every taste--from burgers, meat, pasta and noodles, salads,and fish,to tempting calorie-laden desserts. There is also an on-the-spot sushi-maker.Hi-Life welcomes walk-ins. Plus,it boasts a long list of regulars and repeat-customers who are happy to have this watering spot as their "local," and who come back time and again confident of a tasty meal in pleasant surroundings, and a thoroughly enjoyable restaurant experience."

"Great choices for dinner menus but tonight was just SO NOISY with the "LIVE MUSIC" playing...And they were not even good and really loud. Barely hear my conversation with my date. NEVER AGAIN TO GO THERE TO EAT FOR DINNER ON A WEDNESDAY NIGHT WITH "LIVE MUSIC"!!! :-("
