It was great to learn that all those who said that it was anything other than excellent were wrong. We started with the house salad, ceasar salads and incredible Onion Soup, all good! La souris d'agneau (lamb shank), scallops, lemon chicken and especially the coq au vin were all fantastic! The portion size was generous. Our server (l'homme Français, wish I had learned his name for next time) was the perfect level of attentive, knew his food and wine and had a good sense of humor. We could hear each other talk and did not feel rushed. We both had the sea bass (which the waiter said was fresh that day). It was delicious, the vegetables were crisp tender (just right) and the plate was very pleasing to the eye. We chose the crepes for dessert, which were also wonderful. Our waiter had a great accent and put up with us trying out our high school French. He left us alone to enjoy our meal. The only slightly negative thing is that he left us alone a little too long when it came time to pay the check. Surprisingly, available table on a Wednesday night. The restaurant was strangely empty, with one table occupied at 6:30 pm. Are waiter was very nice, and presented us with a very impressive menu and daily specials. My wife was very pleased with her walnut apple salad appetizer and Halibut/lobster risotto for entree. I had steamed clams and Mediterranean Seabass which was excellent.

I had the steak and eggs and she had the boneless spareribs. Both were really good, but those spareribs...very tender and tasty! Service was great. Didn't always bother you. There is no big fuss, just very good food, and I appreciate the traditional white-tablecloth serenity that this good restaurant provides. The service is -- idiosyncratic -- sometimes friendly and professional, sometimes indifferent, bordering on rude, and friends have reported the same problem, but we all keep coming back. But some nights the waiter may be grumpy, the service may be spotty, the place might be too crowded with masses of people without reservations trying to get in, or the place may be dreary, empty, deserted and dispirited. Some nights the shuttle service may forget to pick you up, and you may have to call them to remind them to come and get you.
But we keep coming back.
