It was a hot summer day, had a few mimosas, and we asked for ice water maybe three times and they kept bringing out sparkling water so we resorted to just keep ordering cocktails instead, might as well. The place is beautiful and the staff very welcoming."

Sat outside closer to the windows and the view is spectacular both during the day and after the sun goes down. Love this spot and also a great place for brunch too!"

  • "They have some work to do at this outpost. the La Jolla location is fantastic. Service is outstanding and food is memorable at La Jolla. Brunch was dissappointing in LA. the Hash Browns were obviously cooked in a pan hours earlier. they were cold, hard and the Chef should be embarrased to have served them. The duck scramble was ok, but not memorable. the Lobster roll was good. Service was decent."

  • "This restaurant (which is inside the Mondrian Hotel), has amazing cocktails and the staff/service is superb. However, the food is way overpriced for the quality you receive. Save your money and just go for drinks. If you like oysters, that is the only thing I would recommend off the menu. We had the lobster bolognese and it was a dry bland bowl of pasta. Did not taste a hint of lobster. We also tried the scallops and again, although not as bad as the bolognese, lacked flavor. The dessert was actually good though. The place is great to take someone for a romantic night out and it seems to come alive closer to midnight."

  • "Took the Family here for a Pre Mother's Day Celebration Dinner. Wow! This place is Beautiful. The staff was very Friendly. We were on time and didn't have to wait. Though it was a Saturday night and slightly crowded, they sat us right away. We had the option to sit inside or out. We decided to sit outside. Gorgeous Setting underneath the Stars with an Amazing view of the City. DJ Rocking Old School real nice. Our waiter "Sorrow" was friendly and very helpful with suggestions. Drinks were Good and Strong. Clam Chowder, Swordfish, Crab Pasta and Steak was Delicious! Desserts, Donuts was small but good. Passion Fruit Cheesecake was light and Sweet. Everyone Loved the Food. Beautiful Place for Special Occasions. Little Expensive; but Worth it."

  • "I went there with my girlfriend for a dinner in a nice place on sunset blvd. The place is in a good spot and it's kinda of up class. We were welcomed and we had to seat at the bar because the table was not ready yet (we got there 15 min prior). Bar has a great view, although we had to wait to get served. Service was a little slow, however the place was packed. Food was good for my taste, however portion are not big. Overall a very nice place to be in LA for a nice dinner."

  • "PORTIONS EXTREMELY SMALL AND INCONSISTENT. OVERCOOKED WHEN ASKED AT ORDER TO COOK ALMOST RARE (HALIBUT). ORDERED TWO HALIBUTS BOTH OVER COOKED. ONE PIECE SMALL AND THICK, OTHER ONE VERY THIN AND WIDE. RESTAURANT NOT ORGARNIZED AND HAD INADEQUATE SERVICE EVEN THOUGH IT WAS NOT EXTREMELY BUSY. CHEF SHOULD BE REPLACED. ONE OF THE WORST HIGH END DINING EXPERIENCES EVER."

  • "I came here with my family for my dads birthday. We had a very nice table by the window with a view of the city. Our waitress was very sweet and helpful and accomodating. All the food was excellent. We had oysters, whole fish ceviche, bone marrow and the goat cheese appetizers; all amazing. We had the steak with crab, seafood pasta, fish and chips, halibut and cheese fries. The best was steak and crab! Totally recommend this place. The drinks were good too. I will be back and I want to check the patio. "

  • "This restaurant checked all the boxes for me and my husband. It was overall a wonderful dining experience. The ambiance was hip and romantic. Great views of downtown Los Angeles. We sat inside but the outdoor patio was beautiful. Awesome service. Great cocktails and exceptional food. I absolutely loved the scallops (probably the best I've ever had!) and my husband enjoyed the lobster pasta. Seems like this might be a great place to see celebrities too if you're into that...we sat next to Randy Jackson."

  • "Decor was outstanding. Service was excellent. A new vibe to the old Asia De Cuba. Food was affordable. I was expecting a pricey menu considering they mostly serve seafood. Great cocktails, buy very little wine list. No high-end wines on their list. The octopus was superb. Amazingly not bad thin flat breads either. Dessert menu could use a little revision. Too much chocolate on almost all of the desserts. The clam chowder could be better, it was just okay, nothing special."

I am just so bummed that so many of these Top Chef type restaurants are starting to fall into the same category of "Big Name Chef in a Nice Looking Venue but with mediocre eats!!" I had out of town guests so I wanted a restaurant that had outdoor views and LA Swank to offer those poor East Coasters coming from the cold somthing to remember. The ambience and the views and the swank were all there and as per my ratings reflect very good. HOWEVER, when you spend $600+ on a dinner you expect somthing memorable to speak about. Food was bordering on mediocre. Presentation gets an A+ but flavor a C. Top Chef Brian Malarky needs to take charge of his kitchen and put flavor back in."

  • "I loved our private alcove and our dining room set up with our party of 10. The unique table, comfortable chairs and rug made me feel like I was dining in a beautiful modern home. Food was delicious and everyone was very courteous and friendly. Only thing was that food took a bit too long to come out but since it was Oscar weekend, we enjoyed the beautiful mix of people that kept marching through the restaurant."

  • "After experiencing Herringbone's La Jolla location, we thought we'd try out their new outpost in the Mondrian hotel in Hollywood, closer to home. Modern, sharp edged with a tremendous view of the west side of LA from the Hollywood Hills, the décor and food while very good didn't quite match up to La Jolla's unique experience. We enjoyed our meals but there are a number of wonderful restaurants in LA that offer a similar experience. Our server was outstanding, the bus staff was a bit aggressive and intrusive in taking plates away. In any case, certainly worth a try for foodies and those looking for a new night time dining experience in LA. Visit their La Jolla location next time you are in San Diego for a more unique experience."

  • "Herringbone has only been open for a month and clearly not enough people know about this fabulous restaurant. Decor is stunning and set up as if you are eating in your own dining room. (Large tables only) Food and service was outstanding and even though we sat inside and looked out at the gorgeous city views, the outside patio is the place to sit on a gorgeous California day."

  • "First time dining here and it was a mixed bag. Restaurant is pretty, but we were given a boring table considering the views and told we couldn't switch even though there were tables in the back. Service was good but a little overbearing w/the constant water pours. The escargot appetizer was outstanding; the shrimp cocktail not so much. Drinks were good but a bit too expensive. Steak entree was good; my pasta was horrible. Way overcooked and limp and the noodles were even broken. Parking is very expensive even with validation. Overall, not worth the price of admission considering all the other fine dining options in LA; the uneven food and overpriced parking and drinks just don't make it worth it unfortunately."

  • "House specialties they are known for their Carne Asada French fries??? Ok, for a high-end seafood that is what you are know for. That should have been a warning! As for the food, we pretty much returned everything except for the fries, which I can order that pretty much everywhere in LA and the oysters… the oysters were the best thing on the menu. I’m sorry but living in LA and having so many choices for a great dinning experience, why would we every return to this mess!!! So I have to say to the management and chef, you have to do better then this to have LA crowd come to your restaurant and keep on coming back and making it a hot spot!!!"

Our server was extremely well versed on the menu, had incredible recommendations and was passionate about the food. Try the whole fish ceviche and lamb and smoked salmon tartare. Had the opportunity to meet owner Brian Malarkey and otherness of the staff, who came around to our table to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. Highly recommended."
