Hermanos RestaurantDelicious Food but Loud EnvironmentThe food was excellent, but the restaurant was really really loud. We came in the late evening on Friday so that we could hear the live latin music which was great, but we found people just talked louder and louder over the music. We had to lean over the table to talk with our dinner companions. Upon arrival we were seated right next to the only other customers in the place at the time. It was at the back of the restaurant and I should have requested a sunnier location near the front. The service was attentive but not overbearing. My friend had the "soup of the day" along with the Natal Cashew + Fruit Salad and enjoyed both. I had the Bricklayer Steak Sandwich and though delicious I felt it was more medium than the rare I ordered. We both had the Gluten Free Chocolate Cake which was very dense and I had a hard time cutting through it with the spoon provided. I believe the dish was called Lomo and I can.t remember the rest of the name. The steak was very salty.
Over all, everyone else enjoyed their food. We were celebrating a 92nd birthday and I mentioned this to the hostess but no acknowledgement was made by our server. The good: the band was quite good, and the steaks were fabulous. The scallop appetizer was amazing. The table we were seated at looked nice enough but after we had sat we realized we were close to all the dishes and there was constant banging of plates and silverware. Our waiter was great, in the beginning, he was quick to bring out the food but after we got our main course we never saw him again. A waitress with a knee brace who was having a difficult time walking, was cleaning up after a party of 9 women and noticed no one was checking on us so she cleared our table, packaged up my leftovers and gave us our bill. We asked our waitress what is best to order and she said that we must try the steak since it is what they are known for and do it best. Well we followed her recommendations and my order of surf & turf was one of the best meals I have had the pleasure to eat! Steaks were perfect and comparable to 529 Wellington & Hy's Steakhouse. I made reservations for a party of 6 people for 8pm. The staff were very accommodating when I had one person join last minute.
Our server was energetic and very knowledgable about the menu. She was fabulous!
I had heard that it takes forever to get your food, so don't wait to place an order. We ordered as soon as we could, but it didn't take long at all. As for the food, I can not say enough good things! Not a single person was disappointed. The steak was probably the best I've had. This is definitely not the place for a quiet night out, loud music and full tables make it hard to carry on a conversation, but its definitely worth it!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic SteakIt was nice to go to a restaurant, order a steak, and have it beautifully prepared and served just as you had asked for it, despite the various orders around the table. The restaurant has a nice feel to it, service was good. We were a group of 8 and we were in an out in less than 2 hours, which I thought was extremely reasonable. Had two waitstaff. The first one who was very friendly and helpful went off shift and the second one was only okay. The service was great and the food tasty. My husband and I shared a mixed platter for two and it was very plentiful. We each enjoyed a skewer of shrimp, a skewer of chicken, and a skewer of steak. Also included was a chorizo sausage for each of us and a skewer of veggies and a bowl of mashed potatoes. The restaurant has a large lounge area, so that you could relax with your favourite beverage and a tapas or two.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food but hard to converse.Went and tried Hermanos for a birthday celebration, just my spouse and I. The service was great and the food was delicious - definately recommend the Ribeye (Baby Cabrera).
However I would not recommend this restaurant if you want to hold a conversation of any sort, it was so overwhelming loud I could barely hear my husband. The food was well prepared, looked appealing and was incredibly tasty. The portions were substantial and the service was excellent.

The beef is memorable-thick and juicy and spiced beautifully- served with amazing dips and sides- you just can't get a better steak anywhere. The service is delightful- the staff are present but not intrusive and they know their stuff. The lunch menu is also excellent- a little pricey for lunch but worth it if the lunch is special or you want to impress. To our delight they had a 37 dollar prize fixe menu which included a starter, an entree, a dessert and a pop, tea or coffee. I had tomato bisque, fish of the day, which was salmon with a creamy caper sauce served over pesto gnocchi and asparagus and passion fruit cheesecake. My husband had the heart of palm salad, beef Milanese and the black and gold dessert. Everything was great! The amount of food was overwhelming. WeHad a great experience! We took our daughter out for her 23rd birthday and the energy and ambiance were perfect for her! My husband and I found it just a little loud, but the liveliness and energy were exactly what my daughter was looking for and she loved it! It was also a place that is very accomodating for wheelchair users! We were notified ahead of time about the ramp and parking at the back of the restaurant and we were promptly met when we arrived. Our hostess also made sure that we were seated at a table that worked well for my daughter's wheelchair. Food was great too! We have eaten here several times on visits to Winnipeg and it has not disappointed. Most of the dishes are large enough to be shared so very good for a light or late dinner. We shared a great cucumber salad and a 12 ounce steak and it was just right. Excellent south American wine selection.
