Diner Reviews
  • "Still working out service issues, but they at least care about it. The kitchen was easily thrown out of kilter when a large party came in. Orders backed up to severely. The manager was very apologetic and, when we finally got it, the food was good. We'll go back and give them another try."

  • "We dined at Stanford's when it first opened and were not impressed. Waitstaff seemed confused and improperly trained and food service was very slow. This time everything was very nicely handled and prepared and the manager stopped by to see how our dinner was. We will be back."

  • "The service and food at Stanford's was great! the GM, Mark and our server, Omar were wonderful. Great to have Stanfords in the neighborhood."

  • "Best ribs I have had in a long time! Service excellent!! When they re-opened as Stanford's the food was not good, but it is so improved! If you were disappointed give them another try, you will be glad you did!"

  • "This restaurant has many tables that afford quiet and space between them so that one can have private conversations. Thus it can be a romantic place to dine. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful."

  • "Staff as very pleasant and accommodating. appetizers-calamari and baked Brie, were delicious! The salmon oscar was very moist and flaky. My husband enjoyed his baby back ribs-tangy not overly sweet.the filet medium rare-very tasty and cooked very well! Our youngest diner gave Mac and cheese an 8.negative comments are: service was very slow! Which will deter us from returning especially since the restaurant was not crowded and we had early dining (6pm).this was a special occasion,so we tolerated the long wait time. We were there for 2.5hrs. it was extremely cold. at least 40% of the diners with their coats on/around them.we enjoyed our meals but will probably only dine for special occasion when time is not a factor."

  • "We went for New Year's Eve dinner. Service was friendly from the moment you walk in and the layout and feel of the restaurant adds to the inviting atmosphere. For these reasons, I gave the restaurant a good rating, but that's about all the positive though.. ordered a steak medium rare and came out more like medium-well; ordered a steak medium-plus and it came out more than well-done. Worst part was the temperature in the restaurant. I'm typically warm everywhere we go, but it was ridiculously cold and made it hard to enjoy any part of the experience. A lot of money for a lack-luster experience especially considering I can spend the same, or slightly more, at other local places and receive a much better experience."

  • "Was recommended to sit in bar for appetizer/drink deals, so decided to eat there as well. From there it went down hill. Got drinks/appetizer in timely manner. Ordered dinner, it took almost 45 minutes for dinner to come out. Not acceptable presentation. Grilled sirloin salad came with extremely small portion of meat, tucked under an oversized piece of what looked gray, greasy.Way over dressed. Had asked for dressing on the side.Other dinners at our table never got thier salads finally got what looked like mom threw together 5 minutes after entree! At end of dinner finally had to get up to get our check as no one ever came back to ask us about coffee/ dessert/or how our meals were. Bad experience."

  • "Very disappointing for the price. The salad was completely unenlightened and amounted to nothing a drenched bowl of iceberg lettuce. This was airplane like in quality. The food was uninspired at best but worst of all, management did not care that their clientele were freezing. Several of the tables around us complained about the cold temperature in the restaurant and an adjacent table asked for their coats back so they could wear them while they ate. We couldn't wait to leave. In addition, the wine list is awful. There is more to wine than over priced wines from California and the U. S. The ubiquitous Cab, Pinot Noir, Merlot and bad Malbec is boring and undeveloped at these price points. Try some great food wines from Italy or Spain..."

  • "It was busy for Christmas dinner. Waited ten minutes for a greeting from our server would have liked a hello I'll be right with you seeing as people that came in before or after us were served right away. I spoke to the manager as he walked by and he apologized and our server was great after that. The food was great. Indiana I guess as a funny law no alcohol on Christmas which was quite a bummer. Without those two things it would have been perfect. Would have been nice to have a dessert on the house for waiting so long. Was already a depressing day being so far away from family. It only bothered me so much because the people that got drinks and orders taken right away didn't even have a reservation and the others were seated way after us."

  • "We were at Stanford's for Christmas Eve. We were impressed with the high level of the service and the quality of the food. This is my first visit, but not my last. Try the Basil Gimlet -- it may sound weird but it tastes great!"

  • "Was looking for a last minute place to dine at a busy shopping site. Had eaten at the previous restaurant at this location and had been a little disappointed but had read good reviews about this new one. Made a reservation for 7pm. but could have walked right in. Was seated by a window and proceeded to have a wonderful meal and excellent service! Will eat here again and will recomend it to friends and family!"

  • "We were just finishing a nice dinner with a group of friends when an order of fajitas set off the fire alarm. The management was quick to make their way through the restaurant and assure us it was nothing serious, but the fire alarm continued to sound loudly for nearly 20 minutes, even AFTER the fire chief and large fire truck arrived. All of that was fine. We coped. Desserts were great. But we expected that there would be some gesture on the part of the restaurant to offer a coupon or a complimentary coffee or something, something to make us want to come back. NOTHING was offered! When we asked about a cup of coffee, the waiter told us it would take a while to brew it and basically warned us off of it. Until fajitas are gone, we are."

  • "We just moved here from Chicago and I've been looking for great food restaurants. Stanford's in Carmel,IN is perfect. The atmosphere was very nice and decorated for Christmas. We had my small children there and they were very accommodating. Our waiter, Justin, was excellent and attentive. The wine was great, the salmon chowder was amazing, and my steak was perfectly cooked and very tender. It was a great dining experience. Thank you for helping me find a great Chicago quality restaurant near my new home :)"

  • "I've eaten at Stanford's twice. Neither time was the restaurant busy, which is surprising as we last ate there Saturday after Thanksgiving. With it's proximity to Clay Terrace, I expected restaurant to be swamped, but it wasn't. While we had made a reservation for our party of 5, we could have walked in and gotten a table to 7:00. Love not only the quality of food, but the variety. They have everything from flatbread pizzas, to gourmet mac and cheese, ribs, fish and chips, sandwiches and steaks. Tomato Basil soup is wonderful. Service was phenominal (I believe Laura was our server's name). Wish it wasn't quite so loud as my 77-year-old father had difficulty hearing us, but many restaurants are a lot noisier."

  • "We came there to take my 92 year old mother out for Thanksgiving dinner. She lives nearby in an assisted living facility and we live out of state. The staff was wonderful and the food was good. Was disappointed that there were no rolls with our dinner. I guess I expected rolls and a dinner salad. I did appreciate that my mother who doesn't eat much was able to get a child's plate. Very nice ambiance..."

  • "We went on Thanksgiving Day and ordered the Thanksgiving Dinner - delicious. Portions were large with a very generous serving of turkey. The triple chocolate dessert was outstanding. Our server was great. This was a terrific alternative to a family gathering."

  • "We would highly recommend this restaurant. Prices were a bit high but well worth it. We had the prime rib, calamari, fish and chips, smoked salmon Bruschetta. Even better than the food was the service. I regret not getting the servers name."

  • "not one of their better efforts, potatoes were mealy, salmon overcooked/dry & hollandaise too runny but the chocolate lava cake was awesome & made me forget the dinner!!"

  • "My friend and I had another tasty meal at Stanford's. He enjoyed the grilled prawn appetizer and cheesy bread, and my smoked chicken linguine was delicious. Unfortunately our service wasn't up to par. Our server was very pleasant but not very attentive. It took 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive, and quite a long time before our food came. The restaurant wasn't especially busy for a Saturday night, so there seemed to be no reason for the delays. But we'll go back because it's convenient and usually very good."

  • "Great place to enjoy a quiet dinner, tucked into a booth :) The food was excellent, drinks were great, and our server was extremely friendly. Due to the prices, we wouldn't make this a regular night out, but great for special occasions."

  • "surprisingly better than usual - the menu lacks fish choices but northside nights had 2 that were very good - am sure this place is struggling but it's a nice quiet place for dinner"

  • "A group of 4 friends enjoyed a very tasty lunch, seated on the patio at Stanford's. My burger was juicy and delicious, and my friends declared their fish and chips and fish tacos were exceptional. Our server was pleasant and attentive, but letting us take our time in ordering, and we had a very nice afternoon."

  • "Our meal was very good, although the pork medallions were not what we expected from the menu description. They were actually pork schnitzel, which was good, although not what we hoped for, not wanting breaded and fried meat. The cheesy bread was excellent. Although our server was very pleasant, service was very slow and our food wasn't very hot when it arrived. Unfortunately we have concluded that the quality of food at Stanford's in no way measures up to its predecessor in the same chain, Kincaid's. This may be reflected by the number of people there on a Saturday night, was surprisingly small."

  • "My third visit to Stanford's confirmed that it's not as good as its predecessor in the same chain, Kincaid's, although the menu is varied with lots of choices. My pork tenderloin with an apricot-chili glaze was tasty but very dry, and the asparagus was perfectly cooked. Unfortunately the food arrived not hot, but barely warm, indicating it had been sitting for a while. The smashed potatoes tasted reheated and were very dry also. However, my friend said his salmon with lemon butter. was delicious. The food was pretty good, but not outstanding - better served hot! Service was excellent - friendly and well-timed. I noticed that there were many fewer people there on a Saturday night than there used to be when it was Kincaid's."
