Henrietta's TableConsistently enjoyableWe decided to treat our friends to dinner and chose Henrietta's Table for it's freshness of food and use of local produce. It did not fail us, we had a delicious and enjoyable meal. The service was outstanding and we appreciate the kindness and professionalism of our server. I chose the fish special which was prepared perfectly. Two of our diners chose the organic chicken and the other chose the porkchop. I know that everyone enjoyed the meal.

Staff was well-organized, cheerful, and on top of things. Food was delightful, and the atmosphere in the room was celebratory and fun (Harvard Reunion weekend). Have now eaten brunch here in three out of the four seasons, and they hit it out of the park every time. The local spinach salad is possibly the best salad I've ever eaten anywhere!!!! And all of the other meal choices are quite good. The only "knock" I would bring up is the lack of depth to the menu ... but each meal is a wheel-house meal with great consistency and taste. It should be known that the menu is heavy on the comfort food side .... The green beans I got as a side were crunchy-tender, just the way I like them. The Boston Cream Pie was smooth and thick, but not too sweet. Charles Hotel is lovely and this is the 'other' restaurant.
Rialto is one of the best and we eat there on special occassions but Henrietta's is our destination when we need to be in Cambridge and want food that is a little more low key and delicious and farm fresh from the high end duck, veal, beef, pork, chicken to the famous sides that are seasonal so always fresh - I had braised lamb shank (from a local farm) with sides of asparagus, mashed potatoes, green beans and salad. EXCELLENT wine (2 bottles!!) and we all shared the chocolate banana bread pudding.

Perhaps this is the natural trajectory of a restaurant so successful that it gets sold by its founder to a more remote owner. My wife had the lamb shank, which was in the form of a ragout.. She enjoyed it, though she expected more of a bone-in dish. I had the duck, which was excellent. The dry cider accompanied it well. I think that it was the best of the four meals, though my 13-year-old who had the pot roast declared that it was the best meal that he'd ever had. My 16-year-old had the corn-crab chowder and then crab cakes, which were good. There were scallions in the crab-cakes, which I thought added a nice crisp taste to the crab. The salads and desserts that we had were wonderfully fresh, and the meals evoked 'home cooking' and 'fresh garden'.
