  • "We had a reservation at 8 pm for 7 people. We were seated on time. Our initial waitress Our group commented that the food was very good. After our food was delivered to our table, our service was good. However, it seemed there was a communication problem related to our assigned waitress. We had to wait 20 mins. before a waitress came to take our drink orders. We observed several waiters and waitress walking. A waitress only came to our table after we initiated a request for a waitress to come to take our drink order our table. Our waitress seemed to think someone else had already taken our order. After she took our order, she was very attentive."

  • "After reading other reviews and hearing people talk about Hendricks BBQ, I was somewhat underwhelmed by our experience. The waitress recommended that my wife and I split the 3-meat platter because "it would probably be more than you can eat" It was a good thing we ordered an extra side of sweet potato fries or we would have gone away hungry. The sides that we ordered with the platter - baked beans and greens with bacon - were delicious but the measly 1/3 cup servings were ridiculous. Only the extra side of fries was a reasonable serving. As for the barbecue itself, the pulled pork and the ribs were nothing to write home about. The brisket was tender and flavorful but all of the meats were very salty and left us thirsty all night."

  • "The food was at great however the service was terrible. We made reservations for 7 however when we arrived at 6:45 they told us we still had to go on the list. What was the point of making reservations. We were finally seated at 7:30. We waited for a server for quiet some time. He was very good but obviously had too many tables. I felt bad for him:( We finally got our food at 8:30, almost 2 hours after we arrived. The food was wonderful though!!! I would love to try it again when hopefully they have fixed the service issue!!"

  • "Hendricks has great BBQ yes, but let's not forget the fabulous side dishes which far outstep the competition. The BEST biscuits I've ever had, plus mashed potatoes to die for, corn casserole, creamed spinach, fried green tomatoes. Need I say more?"

  • "It has been a decade or more since I visited St. Louis and I wanted to introduce the family members who were with me to great St. Louis style BBQ. I don't know that I could have picked a better place. From the cornbread to the ribs to the last bit of dark chocolate shake, the food was delicious and of excellent quality. Everyone was friendly and, despite the late hour we picked for our meal, made it clear that they were invested in our having a great experience. We were not among the best-dressed (16+ hours in the car does not make for the freshest appearance!) but we were treated like royalty. I'd recommend this place to anyone, and wish I lived close enough to visit more often!"

  • "Reservation fail, they do not reserve tables on the deck. I asked for outside seating in the special instructions only to learn that reservations are limited to indoor seating only. We waited 45 minutes to sit on the deck. Food fail: The brisket was tender but seasoned to the point that no meat flavor remained. The ribs and chicken were over cooked. Service: Our waitress was good, but the runners need more training. One girl insisted that we ordered the wrong drinks and delivered them to our table over our objections. They were for the next table. Final score: I will not return."

  • "We made a reservation through Open Table. Upon arrival, we were seated in a fair amt. of time. Our objection was that even after making a reservation, we were seated at the table closest to the kitchen. We constantly had staff walking by us and standing nearby conversing with each other. The noise level was high since there was so much activity in the open kitchen. The food was fair. We had read so many great reviews that our expectations were up. We ordered the "Whole Shebang" which means we were able to sample all 6 of their meats. The ribs, both baby back & spare ribs were dry & salty, the turkey was dry, the pulled pork & brisket were good, but the sausage was okay. Our server Karsen was the best part of the trip. She's great!"

  • "Hendrick's is a BBQ restaurant. I had the brisket sandwich, slightly tough, I have had more tender brisket. The coleslaw needed some help, not much flavor. Last thing, all of the sauces were a little too vinegar tasting. Hope this helps."

  • "Shannon was the BEST server we've had in a good while. Her suggestions were excellent! Clear menu item options/details, nice portions, fast service, flavorful sides & sauces. We really loved the dressing on the 7-layer salad. Each bite of the devine dinner rolls, succulent pecan pie & the homemade vanilla bean icecream causing you to long for the next bite..... made for an OUTSTANDING experience!!   • "TOTALLY AND UTTERLY DELICIOUS!!!! Found it through the help of Yelp and I'm so glad we did. They had some of the best mac I've ever had, the potatoes were perfect and my chicken & biscuit was superb. The other 3 ppl at my table enjoyed the burger, bbq pork and even the pulled pork nachos. Everything was great!"

  • "The BBQ was very good, but we really didn't like any of the sauces so we ate the meat plain. It was still delicious! They have a huge selection of side dishes and the ones we had were very good - cheese grits, baked beans, corn casserole, and sweet potato casserole. Unfortunately, we spent most of the meal with empty glasses looking for our waitress. Each time we requested something, it seemed like she disappeared. Just paying our bill took 20 minutes!"

  • "The four of us enjoyed our meals. The meat was excellent. However, I ordered the Potatoes and Onions and it was not very good. I expected crispy, hot potatoes. I didn't get that at all. The potatoes were just barely warm and there was no crispness at all. The skin was even kind of tough. Even with salt there wasn't much flavor in them. Also the carmelized onions were very much overdone. They were practically black. I can only assume that they had been prepared too soon and then sat around for 30 minutes or so. The BBQ Baked Beans were excellent and I would have liked to have had a larger bowl of them. I expect to return but I won't order the potatoes again. Plus it took almost 45 minutes to get our food. That seems entirely too long."

  • "we had a reservation for 6pm for 4, they seated us at once, brought us drinks, then we ordered and they told us they were out of all the ribs and the fried chicken. Ridiculous.. on a Sunday at 6??? we asked for the manager, he said it was poor planning, oh really??? He finally found us 1 last slab of ribs, we ordered some other things, they comped the ribs, but it was a very disappointing way to spend Father's day or any other way to go to a restaurant. I would not recommend this, lots of other good bbq around….."

  • "This was our first trip to Hendricks BBQ. We had an early lunch reservation on a Sunday. The food was good, and we will go back BUT I have to admit I was disappointed by the level of service when we arrived. We waited about ten minutes at the hostess station for someone to show up. Finally, I walked into the dining area and asked a group of employees if someone could help seat us. The employees were all talking with each other and were not busy at all. It seemed like the whole time we were there, the employees were just waking up. So, I will go again, but NOT EARLY."

  • "Our food was late, and we didn't get all we ordered because of technical problems with a fryer. The manager gave us a replacement meal AND took 25%off the entire ticket. Food was very good, and we appreciated the compensation for the wait."

The pick-two option let us taste a variety of meat choices - all delicious, but the brisket was my favorite. It was hard to make a choice of sides because each one sounded so tasty. Everything is made to order and you can taste the difference. We really appreciated that the music was at a level that made conversation possible. Even with 2-3 large groups/families in attendance while we dined, the energy was upbeat and fun without being overwhelming. The wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable, keeping our glasses refilled and checking on us often but didn't hover."

  • "Servers and/or kitchen staff seem to be very understaffed. Our waiter Phillip was helpful & all was going well until our food came. Our dining companions asked for some bread to go along with the meal & asked the server delivering the food (not Phillip) for it. It never came. Phillip followed up on the request for us. Finally (after 9 requests by Phillip!), he alerted mgmt to take care of problem, & also bring side of mac and cheese that I ordered when they asked for bread. When items were finally brought by other servers, no explanation was given for delay (& no discount offered). Because of Phillip, we'll be back, but not sure how soon."

  • "Very loud even on a Wednesday night, would have been better to eat on the patio. Server disappeared for almost a half an hour, fortunately we didn't need anything! Pulled pork was excellent, ribs and brisket were way too peppery for my taste. Nice decor, good menu. Overall, not bad, but considering the ratings I saw beforehand (one of 10 best BBQ in St. Louis??) did not live up to the hype."

Our drinks ran out for periods of time, our waitress was no where to be found most of the time and when we complained to the manager he just said next time ill buy you a drink, no apology. The food was not to the price they charge either. When you pay a premium you expect the same. It was ok at best. "

  • "Whenever I happen to be traveling trough the St. Louis area I try and make a point to stop and have a meal at Hendrick's. The food is incredible and the ambiance is truly unique, warm and inviting. This past visit however, we were seated in the center section of the restaurant and had incredibly poor service. We were already on a somewhat tight time schedule as we needed to catch a flight, yet it took 10 minutes for us to even be greeted once we were seated and then another 20 minutes just to get our drinks. By the time we finally received our meal, we had already been at our table for a full hour. Thankfully, the food once again was stellar and was the saving grace to this otherwise disappointing visit."

Our friends had bever been there and they loved it. The food was awesome and the serivce was awesome. Good times. Highly recommend Hendricks BBQ. "

  • "The waiter was not very good. There were 5 adults in my party and he only cared about 2 of us. He seemed to be in a hurry to get our orders but it took 45 minutes to get our food. I ordered ribs and expected them to just pull apart, no way, had to cut them. Brisket was the same way. One member ordered a barbequed hamburger and it was not very good. The dry rub almost tasted like taco seasoning. We ordered 1 piece of pineapple upside down cake, partially because the waiter did not wait on others to order. About 5 minutes later he showed up and said it would take 45 min to get the desert. Overall, I will not go back."

  • "Our fault perhaps for dining at 9 pm, but they were out of ribs! So we put in an order for brisket and fried green tomatoes and cracklings. The waiter came back with a long face some time later and reported the green tomatoes were out as well. The cracklings were extraordinarily salty, with the meat way out of proportion to fat. Folks, cracklings are supposed to be fatty, and these were fried very dry. Brisket was nicely seasoned with a good smoky flavor, but the texture was rather mushy: I suspect some shenanigans such as chemical tenderization. A lactose-free coconut shake was a pleasant surprise but cost more than beer. Staff were pretty good (hostesses variable, waiter good)."
