Diner Reviews
  • "Delicious food and great service. Very nice and quiet setting after a long day of walking around! And it's right above the pool area with a scenic view. Oysters app and stuffed lobster were so fresh. And my husband was savouring his steak. My son also loved his pasta kids dish and double chocolate chunk dessert. And we shared creme brûlée and I had a great cappuccino. Love to go back again!"

  • "All I can say is AMAZING. The setting of the restaurant nestled in the lush garden of the the hotel was beautiful. The food was delicious and the service was fabulous. The bright airy feel was very different from other "white table cloth" restaurants. If you have a chance to go, its a must."

  • "It has been many years since we have eaten at Hemingways. I remember Hemingways as being a classy restaurant. i was surprised at the poor service provided during our visit. When we were first seated we were given two different menus. They had changed their offerings but had not removed the old menus. Secondly the service was very slow..The waiter informed us that the reason for the slow service was due to their error. He stated that they had taken our order and given it to another table.that had come in after we had. The waiter then asked my wife if she wanted another glass of wine. A restaurant with class would have offered the second glass as compensation. I just expected more"

  • "Celebrated our 40th anniversary with a wonderful evening. We had a lot of special requests due to preference and food allergies. They were all handled smoothly and with class. Table was well placed and beautifully set, Service experience top flight from walking in and carried through the meal. The lady who greeted us carefully understood allergies and worked to make sure all knew, she had a table in mind for us and bought us drinks for the few minutes we waited. We decided to order each course as the whim struck us and they we completely at ease with that. Best oysters I have had for a long time, seafood and presentation extraordinary. Oh, and did I say we liked the place? Thanks Hemingway's bg"

  • "Hemmingway's service was outstanding. Thomas was our waiter and Jimmy from Cali Columbia was around for whatever we needed. Both were top notch servers. I don't recall the name of the man who sat us but he was delightful as well. The Crab Cakes were the best I've ever had, the pre-meal biscuits were fresh out of the oven and sinful and the desserts were worth the calories. The prices are high but in line with this kind of dining experience."

  • "Hemingway's is just right. No restaurant can be 100% all the time, but they were certainly on during our dining experience. The bacon wrapped scallops - though only two - were succulent and quite delicious. They make a mean Martini - if I must find a negative it would be that it was a bit smallish. Our fish entree's were prepared just about perfectly, with flavor nuances that were truly original. The service was delightful - if you are looking for fast service, this is not the place; Hemingway's is a slow-paced experience to savor. The deserts were the perfect end to this great dinner - may you find your experience here as outstanding as we did! - EC"

  • "For one in our party, they couldn't get the steak done right.....two times back and then he said no more. Not sure if it was the chef's fault or direction from the waitress. The rest of us did not have steak, so ours was delicious!"

  • "This is a very nice seafood restaurant with good variety, excellent food quality and very good service. Don't let the fact that it is located within a large resort hotel complex keep you away. The setting is beautiful and perfect for special occasions."

  • "Had read a lot of good reviews, but also a lot of bad ones. It was the only thing open and that should have been a red flag. The food was overdone and just so-so. Service was really slow and spotty. Basically a hotel eatery."

  • "I was excited to go to this restaurant and overall it was a good experience. The restaurant was nice the staff was great. My only two complaints was first the time it took for my food to be prepared. I had an appetizer, main course and dessert and was at the restaurant over two hours. My second complaint was with the foor preperation. My guest and I ordered steaks medium and both steaks were served well and dry. Something that happens common but when your attending a resataurant with such great ratings and high prices the least you expect is them to be able to prepare a steak. Otherwise everything was great."

  • "Very good experience, although service was a little slow considering the amount of guests in the restaurant. Would definitely go back as location is a huge plus for us. The oysters were huge!"

  • "This restaurant is on the grounds of the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress which is a fantastic hotel by the way. I was there for a business conference and decided to eat dinner with my colleague at Hemingways. I was impressed with the menu. Beef tarte tarte isn't a common central Florida menu item. If you're on vacation or the company dime, definitely stop by here."

  • "My bf and I gave up meat recently so we were both surprised at how ABSOLUTELY AMAZING both the whole snapper (recommended by our waiter, David) and salmon were. The wait time for our table, drinks and food was good. We also had the crab cake as an appetizer. It was fresh and tasty. However, not the best I've tasted. Since we're only in Orlando for a little R & R and NOT for the Disney experience, we were a little disappointed to see SO many chain restaurants. So, we were pleasantly surprised that Hemingway's met our expectations. We're from Chicago and big foodies and we're always looking through reviews top find the best restaurants in whatever city we visit."

  • "We stayed at the Hyatt Grand Cyprus and enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Hemingway's the night before we left on a 7 day cruise. Hemingway's had a great menu, I was able to make reservations online and they had a nice wine list all of which made for a great beginning of our vacation!"

  • "I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere at the restaurant. It takes a little discovery to actually find the restaurant through the lobby of the hotel. But it is surrounded by a nice little grotto and overlooks the pool area of the hotel. The service is great, the food excellent, and drinks were well made. This is not really a place for families or people on a budget. It is more geared toward business dinners and couple who would like a nice meal."

  • "They did an excellent job, great food, excellent service. Extra attentiveness. Very good paella. Made a mistake with preparation of one entree for gluten allergy guest but corrected it quickly and made it right. Very personable. Looks good for business guests or family groups. They appear to have small private dining areas which offer privacy. Very nice."

  • "This was the third time we have eaten here and the food is great. The seafood menu is seasonal but they always have their crab cakes. The salads are an unusual pairing of flavors. Mine had green olives, pancetta, and blue cheese. I had the paella and got a second meal out of it. My husband had the tuna and it was cooked rare, as requested, and was perfect. The other two people in our party had the crab cakes and the filet mignon. No complaints at our table. We shall return."

  • "Excellent food and service. I did have an issue with the very small size of the cocktails (I would estimate 6- 8 oz Gin and Tonic with lots of ice); however, when I mentioned to our waitress that it was the smallest gin and tonic I have ever been served , she said she was sorry and brought us a free dessert."

  • "We are Hemingway's fans....we have been going there for probably 15 years as tourists and for the last 3 years as "a local". The place is great..but it was a little off on our visit. My steak was so so and my wife's blackened Grouper was not good at all.... Desserts, drinks, wine poor, ambiance, table location, attentive service...all good.....meals - average at best this night.... I believe in totally honest in reviews. We will go back. Hemingways is a great restaurant.....but not this night."

  • "My husband and I went for our Valentine's Day Evening Date and the ambience of the restaurant was amazing. The service provided kept us with a smile. I would recommend eating at Hemingway's for any occasion."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "The food and preparations were quite poor. I ordered Grouper that was poorly prepared, arrived late and rather not of the taste that I would expect. I would not expect biscuits to be served with the same level of quality that you can get at home from the Pillsbury Doughboy. The desert offerings were a joke! All the options looked like they came right out of a grocery store freezer section. While my wife and I love the atmosphere at Hemingway's, it is hardly worth a trip back there with dinners that are not prepared and served to previous standards."

  • "We have dined at Hemingway's dozens of times over the past 25 years...always a special treat. We always allow time to stroll through the gardens filled with art either before or after dinner. The exterior and interior glass walls allow the surrounding tropical foliage to visually permeate the interior - creating a wonderful ambience - very romantic. Everything sparkles...the service is warm and efficient - no stuffiness. No matter what the selection, our food has always been great...especially the Alaskan King Crab Legs!"

  • "Took a group of 5 for business dinner. Nice setting, all enjoyed meal. Most if us ordered their famous crab cakes which did not disappoint. And key lime pie to top it off. Would have given a 5 but the air vents run on floor under chairs by outside of room making it a little cold for me. Maybe perfect spot for others who get too hot. Otherwise great."

  • "I took colleagues to Hemingway's while in Orlando on business. The service was first rate, food was well presented, creative and delicious, and the ambience conducive to conversation. I'll remember this place on future trips to Orlando . Located in the Grand Hyatt."

  • "I thought the food was excellent. Service was very attentive but our waiter was a touch arrogant and bossy. It's quite difficult to get reservations in or around Disney World so this place is definitely worth a try versus waiting an hour or so at Disney Marketplace. Typical hotel restaurant pricing but the food was excellent. I was really looking forward to the keylime Caesar. Unfortunately it tasted like a regular Caesar salad. Nothing special. My brother had six of the table biscuits and we tried the Steak Tartare and I ended up with the seafood paella. My wife got the filet and enjoyed it as well."

The food presentation and taste was divine...coupled with the wine list and service....a definite 'must do' in the Orlando scene."
