  • "We found this place via OpenTable and saw that reviews were positive across the board, so we decided to take my mother-in-law here for dinner. Heirloom is a hidden gem at the top of Chestnut Hill, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal. BYOB (with convenient access to a Wine & Spirts) with a phenomenal menu to choose from (we had last day of the Spring menu). Our server was outstanding, and was able to make recommendations on dinner and dessert that did not disappoint. We fully recommend Heirloom for any special occasion or night out, and will definitely be returning here again soon."

  • "Reservations recommended… the service always makes me feel like I am in high-end restaurant. Our 1 year old was asleep when we arrived, and the hostess kindly arranged some extra chairs to make a little 'bed' for her to rest on until she woke up. And that's only the beginning.. we had 5 in our party, everyone ordered something different and shared. Highly recommend the crab benedict which is beyond delicious, love their take on shrimp and grits with a kind of herbed tomato sauce woven in, and the banana/walnut waffle with bourbon syrup was SO yummy. Kind of small almond ricotta crepe.. but stellar food, coffee, service and ambiance."

  • "After the reviews I read, I expected a much different dining experience. The restaurant was filled; service was very slow. The food was good, but nothing so special that I would be upset if I couldn't get a reservation. Since the mantra seems to be "fresh food from local sources" the menu is extremely limited. This would not be a place to take someone who is a picky eater and needs many choices from which to chose."

Take a sparkling wine to toast a special occasion before brunch, followed by the wine of your choice for imbibing with the meal itself. Stagger home happy. Escargots highly recommended."

  • "A great place to take a foodie for their birthday! My friend, Miles, socks were knocked off by every single dish we had, gorgeous and tasted heavenly! Our server Robert, made sure everything was PERFECTION! Every dish was stunning even if we split it and we had many things! Chop salad, beet salad, cauliflower/veggie entree, and lobster special. Lemon dessert and pecan pie! All, were exquisite! So were our 3 lovely hostesses!!"

  • "We went to Heirloom for a Father's Day brunch. While the food was good, the service left something to be desired. It just never caught a good rhythm, and we found ourselves waiting...and waiting...and waiting. Maybe we just caught this place on a bad day. So much so, me and the hubby had to ask ourselves, "was the food really that good"...the answer "no". I hate to say it since Heirloom has all the makings for a great spot, but service killed this one for us - we won't be going back anytime soon."

  • "While the service and ambience are worth noting, we found flaws in almost every dish. A beet salad lacked salt, the salmon was over cooked and the so-called cauliflower steak was really a plate of roasted veggies with underseaoned cauliflower at the center. The crab cake was well executed. But the flour less chocolate cake was more like pudding, yet the flavors worked. We often find BYO's food centered, which is why we try them all. But Heirloom seems to focus more on the experience, which is disappointing to foodies like us."

  • "The staff was nice. The salad and appetizer tasted good (we got the crab and shrimp chopped salad and then the crab cake.) The bread was very good. The duck was raw. I sent it back. The red snapper was overcooked. I have a hard time spending almost $30 for an entree when the skill level of the chef is questionable. Although they responded appropriately to my sending back the duck, I don't think I would chance this restaurant again."

  • "Just had our first dinner at Heirloom after countless wonderful Sunday brunches, and it met our high expectations and then some. My only regret is that we didn't have time to try a dessert. They accomodated our 1 year old infant so pleasantly, and the food was exceptional. Favorites: the seared "foie gras" over apple, the quail over chestnut gnocchi and fava beans, the lobster/zucchini noodle appetizer. Arrive ready to explore a delicious menu. My one request would be to include just a couple more vegeterian options for those who do not eat meat of seafood."

I am a total foodie and went there with Jerry, My foodie friend who is gluten free and we just mentioned it and chef took care of us!! :-) It was, I think the best meal I ever had! We even got to have 2 desserts!! :-) The flourless chochate "cake" which was like the moistest part of a brownie! Heaven! and a Blackberry sorbet? Amazing!!! :-) Everything we had was top notch! :-) Perfection!!"

  • "The food was excellent--oyster stew flavourful with delicious oysters in a portion properly sized for a starter. The duck breast was perfectly cooked with tasty carrot coulis and raisin cabernet syrup just right, although the foie gras boudin was dry and tasteless. The crab and shrimp chop salad was superb--best dish we had. The savoy and pork cheek side we shared was excessively salty. All in all, it's good food for a local restaurant. Our server was overly talkative, suggesting his favorite dishes unasked, but eventually he figured out that we were there to talk, but not with him. "

I was not convinced that the waitress or the maitre d' or the chef cared much about us as they came by our table. The whole artisanal cult is becoming too spoof-able. Aspirants need to develop a sense of humor and/or humility about the genre."

  • "Heirloom is a gem. With only 50 seats, you have to plan ahead to get in, but Open Table had a 5:30 seating and we took it. 2nd time eating there (BYOB), and both times we've been really pleased. The presentation, the taste, the mood are all excellent. Try the pork chop or sea bass (with a beet-flavored rice), and you won't be disappointed. Excellent service, too. "

  • "My mother brought me here after raving about her outstanding meal a few months ago, so my expectations were high. They were definitely met! From the ambience to the service to every food item I was blown away by the high quality. I ordered the Prince Edward mussels, which had a sauce so impressive I almost asked for more bread to finish it with, and the Berkshire Pork Chop, which was cooked perfectly and stayed that way even when I ate the leftover for lunch the next day. The whole restaurant and the staff was warm and inviting, and I cannot wait to dine here again!"

  • "I was here before for dinner and it was very nice, but this time it was awful. Our server had no idea what she was doing. She couldn't remember the specials for dinner or dessert, she had no table presence and she was just really, really bad. She literally walked away from the table saying she was sorry about not knowing the specials. Then they ran out of the dinner special, never apologized and when the food came out it was bland, tasteless and honestly, it was luke warm. Our waitress even auctioned the food when it came out. No seat numbers? No memory? Coming to the table and saying "duck" is totally unacceptable. And the duck was really, really small. The chef was constantly walking around making strange noises.   • "Ive eaten there several times and the food was always good. This time, the food was so so. Portions are on the small side with a large price tag. My dish came with roasted fennel. The core was not removed and the fennel was tough at best. Desert was only so, so, Goat cheese cheese cake is a little hard to take. Goat cheese in small portions is okay when mixed with greens but way too much for a cheese cake. The choc flourless cake is more like a mousse and not like the flourless choc cake I make--desert was not worth the price. Also the head chef comes around to the table which is also awkward. I told him what I thought, but not sure he appreciated it"

  • "Like some other local restaurants I've been to, Heirloom tries to use as many locally grown products as possible. To me this insures freshness of the product as well as supporting local growers. We were there on a Sunday night and they were out of the entree that my wife wanted. I thought this spoke well of the establishment because they get their deliveries on Tuesday and Friday. Instead of taking something out of the freezer, nuking it and throwing it on the grill they only use fresh ingredients which means you might run out on the last seating of the week."

  • "Heirloom is more expensive than most places we go to eat, but my husband wanted to go for his birthday and we enjoyed our visit very much. The individual dishes are not that expensive individually, but we had appetizers, two sides, and desserts in addition to the entrees, so it added up! (We did bring home some leftovers.) We hope to go back and try the spring menu, as we were told the menu would be changing in a few days. Everything we had was excellent. We also appreciated and enjoyed the p[ersonal and intimate service We took a couple of large bottles of excellent Belgian beer instead of wine and were pleased with our choice. We also brought the appropriate glasses, as it appears that the restaurant provides only wine glasses."
