Heirloom RestaurantFabulous food but very noisyIt's no longer uncommon to find the best small restaurants with very high noise levels. All was well early on ( around 6:00-6:30) but then come 7:00 the noise really escalated. This was a Wednesday evening. Meal was delicious, dessert not so great but the service was wonderful.
Look forward to returning.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMRepeat CustomerWe have been here several times and have always enjoyed it. Service has always been excellent and the food delicious. The menu is limited but Heirloom specializes in dishes you won't find anywhere else.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome food. Beautiful décor.Awesome food. Beautiful décor. Terrific service. A+ .... I would go back again and again!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFine experienceSimply an exceptional meal. Wonderful creative menu. He service was exceptional and the chef, Al Farris visited with us before we ordered and gave gret advice on what to order.
There really wasn't anything to criticize except we chose o eat outside. I probably wouldn't do that again. Otherwise I can't wait to return. The only issue here was the difficulty in getting reservations. Great job all round4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMI have never been disappointedI have never been disappointed at Heirloom. Their menu is creative and inspiring. I love having a restaurant of this caliber in my neighborhood. The down side of discovering a restaurant this good is that now its challenging to get a reservation!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food at Heirloom is exceptionalThe food at Heirloom is exceptional. Chef Al is amazing and we were delighted with our meals. I had the duck and froi gras - unbelievable! The froi gras was made to perfection and the duck was tender and delicious. The salad was also wonderful. They use fresh, local ingredients whenever possible. Service was impeccable. BYOB, which saves $$.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMCheerful, friendly serviceCheerful, friendly service from hostess and server. Careful attention to details by the kitchen to execute a very enticing menu, plates were very well presented and as delicious as they looked. Not my first visit and certainly not my last.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMwe sat at the curved end ofwe sat at the curved end of a long banquette but the table was square so we coud not get close to the table. The table could be moved to make it closer to one diner but that made it further from the other diner. So we compromised and left it equally distant from both diners. Then when eating we had to lean forward or sit at the edge our seats to reach our plates - it was awkward. Food was excellent and I will go back soon, but will ask not to be seated at table 31.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food at Heirloom was veryThe food at Heirloom was very fresh. The food was prepared perfectly. Heirloom is great for special occasions and I love that it is a byob.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMI'd heard the food was special,I'd heard the food was special, and I was not disappointed.
Great combinations of ingredients, and artfully presented, too3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been to Heirloom twiceWe have been to Heirloom twice now, and each time was a delight. The wait staff is very solicitous. The ambiance is quiet and relaxed. The food presentation is some of the best I have seen. And we have found the side dishes are surprisingly good. We had the side of Brussels sprouts the first time we were there. Absolutely delicious. This time we had the side of gingered carrots. Like non I have ever eaten. I think I liked that part of the meal the best!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMI went here during ChestnutI went here during Chestnut Hill Restaurant Month. Everything was superb. The food is mainly prepared with local and seasonal ingredients, it's beautifully presented, and most importantly it is tasty. The dining room is very attractive, the service is friendly and efficient, and it is even a BYOB which is great on the wallet. This is a top-quality dining experience in Chestnut Hill.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMMy dining companion & I hadMy dining companion & I had a delicious meal and were even able to take advantage of its Chestnut Hill Restaurant Month offering. Heirloom has the added advantage of being a byob. The dining room is very small and feels all the more so due to rather dark burlap-like coverings (presumably there to hide the view of its tiny strip mall location) on the windows and door which was initially difficult to find. Worth mentioning because the restaurant was not that busy when I was there, but I suspect could feel very close on a busy weekend night.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMA nice Palm Sunday brunch with momThis was my second visit to Heirloom Restaurant, my first time for brunch. I liked the variety of dishes on the menu. The oyster gumbo, a substitute for the oyster chowder that they had run out of, was extraordinary. The oysters were huge and perfectly cooked. The broth was delicious as were the al-dente vegetables, cut just the right size for the dish. Although the shrimp and grits was also very tasty, there were only four shrimp, not enough for the amount of grits and mushrooms. One to two more shrimp would have been better or the same amount of a larger-sized shrimp. The service was attentive and well-timed. I will definitely return to Heirloom and I am looking forward to trying their signature dessert, the warm apple pie donut.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMNice to be greeted by owner,Nice to be greeted by owner, waiter very informative and enthusiastic and friendly, food extremely tasty but not hot as we prefer, ambience very comfortable, dining choices plentiful, definitely will return. Thank you.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was excellent exceptEverything was excellent except for the noise level which was awful. It was impossible to talk or hear each other.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe new spring menu is veryThe new spring menu is very fresh for the palate, subtle and light. The prix fixe during the week gave us wonderful value. Great chef, hw talkes with folks and likes to hear feedback on his menus.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMAn enjoyable eveningAlways a great meal! I don not suggest passing on their deserts....mouth watering.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent!! WeThe food was excellent!! We had our one year old daughter with us and I felt that she was very much welcomed by the staff and they were able to accomodate our needs very well. It was also my birthday and they added a candle to my dessert, very wonderful! I would definitely dine here again:)3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe ate there during restaurantWe ate there during restaurant month which was nice and the food was good. Tomato bisque was as good as it gets, the main course was shepherds pie which was very good although a little to finely chopped (could have been a little more chewy and had a better mouth feel), the dessert was chocolate cake with cherries inside and homemade vanilla ice cream. The dessert was quite good -- the cherries gave it a nice touch and the ice cream was nice, if bit tame. Strangely the dessert was the largest portion of the night.
The service was ok but the waiter seemed to be vaguely contemptuous that we were ordering the restaurant special -- excuse me but it sounded good. That plus a lecture that coffee made in a French press took 5 minutes was ann3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAl Paris has done an amazingAl Paris has done an amazing job with this restaurant! This was my 3rd dining experience at Heirloom and it was as wonderful as the 1st and 2nd! One of my favorite places to dine. The room is cozy, the service is excellent and the food is delicious and beautifully plated...what could be better! Looking forward to trying their brunch next!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMA local gemA great addition to the local restaurant scene. A creative menu. The people who work there try to please.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFood here is creative andFood here is creative and very good. We are vegetarians and had less to choose from compared to many other restaurants these days.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding! The food is incredibleOutstanding! The food is incredible, the decor is beautiful, the servers are attentive and accommodating, and the BYOB option is very nice as well. I have Celiac Disease, and was assured that I would have plenty of gluten free choices available to me. The accomodation for special diets was wonderful, and the food pairings were creative and beyond delicious! My family and I were very impressed, and loved everything we ate. We will be returning. Highly recommended!3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were welcomed heartily! We were welcomed heartily! The room is modern but cozy. We did not know that it was "restaurant month" and was surprised to find a special prix fixe dinner. It was perfect for a dreary evening: lobster bisque, duck fricassee and a wonderful raisin cake. There was just enough food and it was enjoyed by all. We love the fact that it is BYO. The menu changes seasonally and uses very fresh ingredients.3/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA Grand Slam in Chestnut HillIt was our first visit to Heirloom but it won't be our last. The friendly and professional staff welcomed us as we entered and showed us to our window table. Our waiter George gave us a warm welcome and never made us feel any rush throughout the evening. The menu was an excellent balance of loally prepared fish, poultry, and beef. Chef- Owner Al Paris at one point came out to greet all guests with warmth and sincerity in welcoming people to his eatery. The upscale dining experience still had a very personalized feel to the overall experience. The food was delicious. We would highly recommend this restaurant to our friends and family.2/22/2013 12:00:00 AMyou will love this quaint addorableThis place is amazing. The shrimp and crab salad was the best salad I ever had. The braised short rib melted in my mouth. The service was 5 star even the chef came out twice to make sure the meal was great for us. Its worth every penny.1/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
