"The was a special occasion (birthday) dinner. We mentioned this to the hostess when we were seated, and without further prompting, dessert arrived with a candle (and, happily, without a gaggle of waiters singing "Happy Birthday"). In between arrival and candle we had an excellent meal with great service."

"The menu is billed as traditional American but it is decidedly weighted towards the Southern half of the country, and in a mostly good way. The bread, for instance, is cornbread and something close to biscuits. It uses grits and South Atlantic seafood. It's seafood and fish oriented as well, with some meat dishes--pork, chicken, beef. The presentation is contemporary gourmet style, the ingredients are first-rate, there are some unusual choices, like faro instead of rice in the purloo I had. It's a serious restaurant. My only complaint is how hard it was to find lo-fat items in the dessert list especially!"

"We were at Heirloom for Easter Sunday Brunch. It was delicious and we had a great waiter. While quite busy, it was not too noisy. We loved the BYOB idea, serving juice and Bloody Mary mix to go along with our champagne and vodka."

"The food at Heirloom is inventive and most of all, delicious! The dishes have a southern flair and the portions are generous. We were also impressed with the service, well educated and attentive waitstaff enhanced the experience. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an intimate atmosphere and an alternative to the regular spots in Chestnut Hill."

"the food qwas good, and all of our party of six found dishes which they applauded. Personally I like real bread, not brioche, popovers, or other cake like products, and Heirloom does not have real bread. I would continue to order main courses from the entree list, only because the serving sizes are more appropriate to a 60+ physique, who is no longer an active lumberjack. Our 30-something children and their wives did not worry about this issue. They also made short work of deserts which looked to be both calorific and delicious"

"Food was excellent. We were there on the first day of the spring menu, and both had fish. The halibut with peas and arctic char were both done perfectly, not overcooked. Waiter, after saying he would be unobtrusive, was not-a bit too talky for my taste. Also, the restaurant was very loud."

"The food was very good- interesting textures and flavor combinations. However, the applewood smoked Amish chicken had a very distinct smokey flavor which was a bit overwhelming. The filet mignon was excellent, but was barely warm when it arrived at our table. My appetizer, heirloom tomatoes with creamy mozzarella, was excellent- just the right mix of tomatoes, basil, and cheese."

"Great new menu with some faves that remained. We were told there was a party coming in 2 hours after our reservation as we arrived. Felt like we had to rush, but we were gone before party arrived and didn't have to rush. My new local favorite!!"
