Heidi's MinneapolisBring back the old menu, pleaseThis was our second visit to Heidi's and I was underwhelmed by the menu change. Although they still offer a la carte items, they are the same as items offered on the Prix Fixe Menu. If you don't eat pork or seafood, there are few choices.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were there for Mother'sWe were there for Mother's Day and were disappointed to find a limited menu. There was one person in our group who didn't like any of the 4 choices for the entrees. I thiink that there ought to have been a chicken dish for those who aren't as adventuresome. However, the rest of us enjoyed what we had.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSolid as alwaysHave been here four times and have brought family visiting from out of town. It has never disappointed.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFun evening and great foodThe food was fantastic and I loved the wine pairings with the various dishes. There was a diner in our group who had very strict limitations and the chef was able to accommodate her. Having never been there before I was very glad to have been seated in the room off the side as I think it was a quieter space. If I go back I would make sure to be in that space again. I marveled at the coordination it must take to get 4 separate courses with the particular wine pairings on the table in a flash. The wait staff did a great job in this regard. I thought it was a fair price for the experience as well.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMMy second time at Heidi's.My second time at Heidi's. Went with a different couple. We all had tasting menu. Two people were vegetarian and they were very happy with the selections. Among my favorite places in the Twin Cities.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOverpriced - special occasion onlyAngie, our waitress, was great - very accommodating on food choices for our 7 course prix fixe. If we were to do it again, we'd go with the 4 course meal. One of us had a vegetarian, the other a regular. The veggie meal appeared to have the same sauce for the carpaccio and the root vegetable ravioli. The portions, especially for the veggie, are very small and the prix fixe is the same price if you have the meat or not. That's a a rip-off. The various meals were just okay - really nothing special, but the chef clearly wants to appear unique. Foam has been done before, but the presentation goes overboard with this once novelty item. I would not go back for a regular dinner; pricing is for special occasion.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great, cheepThe food was great, cheep for a 9 course tasting menu, drinks were pretty good as well. I would definitely recommend Heidi's to a friend for a good place to take a discerning pallet.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA Real TreatThis was only my second visit. The first time I sat inside and was impressed by the interior's attractive decor. I don't remember what I had, but I was so we'll pleased that I spread the word far and wide. Several friends thanked me on discovering this treasure. When my Montreal cousin announced he'd visit me this week, I asked him to go to your website to determine if I should make a reservation. We were so happy with our beverages and the remarkable food. Gen, our waitperson, was extremely gracious and knowledgable, contributing to a most enjoyable evening.
I won't wait so long for a third visit!!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's MondayIt's Monday and I am still thinking about the Fabulous meal I had on Saturday.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was out of this worldExcellent food choices. Amazing fresh ingredients. Nothing was ordinary.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBrought my family who wasBrought my family who was visiting from Chicago to Heidi's for dinner and we ordered the 7-course tasting menu. It was an elegant, thoughtful meal and the presentation was very fun. My 17-year-old son paused before trying the beef tongue and loved it of course. My personal favorite was the tuna tartare and pork belly... extremely flavorful. I have a hard time convincing my family about the fine dining options in Minneapolis and they were impressed... thank you!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistent performerMy wife and I have only been to Heidi's a few times but each time the food preparation, presentation and taste have been first class. I travel all over the world and to have a place like Heidi's in the back yard is fabulous. It has definitely moved to the top of my dependable places for dining in the Twin Cities.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMService was slow so we cameService was slow so we came back after the theater for our Prix Fix dessert. We should have mentioned when we first arrived about our theater timeline so I don't fault the restaurant or our server.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing, Memorable Service & FoodThe first time my husband and I visited Heidi's was for no occasion; we just wanted to try it out. We sat at the bar outside the dining room to watch the action in the kitchen through a glass wall. He had salmon, and I had lamb (both exquisite).
The second time was to celebrate our 4th Anniversary, and we made a reservation in the dinning room.
The ambiance is whimsical and romantic...a mural covers the entire far wall, and there is a gorgeous artist's installment of a large tree in the middle of the room.
We ordered the 7 course tasting menu and brought a special bottle of wine (which we didn't pay a corkage fee on because of a promo-bonus!). The food & service were AMAZING. They even surprised us with a special dessert. :)5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have now eatten at Heidi'sWe have now eatten at Heidi's for dinner 5 times. I have always enjoyed it but the past two times I feel like they are trying to do "too much" to be different. The Lobster in a take out container was wierd. It was foam with a little lobster. The tuna and pork belly was fabulous. The dessert said berries and then it was really very little about berries. Our main courses were delicious. So my advice would be to get rid of FOAM and wierd presentations and focus on what you do well: excellent food!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely wonderful food!We were a party of five and tried many items from the 4 course selections- ALL were fabulous including the surprise the chef sent to the table! The flavors were all perfectly blended, creating an absolutely memorable meal. I would be happy to go back today and order all the very same things- they were so great! This was the comment that 5 of us had and we all ate different things!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food with mildlyWonderful food with mildly slow service. The chef's kids were behind us at a table with a caregiver. While not rowdy, the kids and caregiver were noisier than the rest of patrons and clearly took up some of the wait staff's time. The kids playing on electronic devices in a nice restaurant was the a moderate noise and visual distraction.
T'was a testament to the food (outstanding) that the evening was a B+ for us.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time there, went forFirst time there, went for Sunday brunch, and thought it was fabulous. My daughter and I had the fried chicken, my husband the parpadelle w/scrambled eggs and lobster. Excellent. We will make it a point to visit again.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is my second visit andThis is my second visit and enjoyed it just as much. The menu has changed and I wish there was just a little bit more explanation as how the dishes are prepared (we did the 4 course for $44). Very inventive and the presentation of the food was creative and beautiful. For a tasting, this was a great deal and the portions were generous. The highlight for me was the lamb shank and the dessert of mango spheres with a lemon grass sorbet. Cant wait to go back!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMy partner and I had a fabulousMy partner and I had a fabulous 4 course dinner last weekend to celebrate our 17th anniversary. Will recommend Heidi's to family and friends.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMust Try...Be sure to try the lobster and mushroom risotto. The halibut is absolutely wonderful as well!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing! The most amazing food I have ever tasted, no joke! Service was great too. Definitely will come back again and again and will recomment this restaurant to anyone.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulousFabulous food that you CANNOT make at home! Not at all pretentious. Bring-your-own-bottle option makes the price very reasonable. My brother visits me about every 7 years and this is were I took him for dinner. I couldn't have been more pleased.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOur experience at Heidi'sOur experience at Heidi's was fantastic. The only odd part was that when we arrived they said our table would be ready in a second. We only waited a couple of minutes but when we went into the dining room the tables were half empty (it was a Sunday evening). So that just seemed odd. Our waiter (forgot his name) was fantastic and really let us take our time and explained every dish for us really well. Everyone at our table of 4 ordered the 4 course tasting menu so we could try the majority of the things on the menu. Some of the standouts included the braised lambshank, the veal osso bucco, and all of the desserts. We had a great time and would definitely recommend Heidi's to anyone looking for a great culinary experience!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience! My husband and I ate at Heidi's to celebrate his birthday. We chose the four course meal with wine pairings. The service was amazing with a very attentive staff and fast service. The food was incredible!!!!! We will be going back to Heidi's every chance we have! I highly recommend it!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything, from the welcomeEverything, from the welcome at the door to the wait-staff, to the incredible food was perfect!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe did the tasting menu --We did the tasting menu -- this place would match any fine dining I have ever done. the 9 course tasting menu was well worth it and was fantastic4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding on all countsHad a 7-course tasting menu, which they had both vegetarian and non-vegetarian versions. Both menus were equally outstanding. Tuna tartar with roasted pork belly was delicious. The beet sorbet with truffle oil and paddlefish caviar was out of this world and probably the best among all-outstanding dishes. Beef tongue was tender, well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The donut for desert was kind of gutsy but it was executed perfectly so I had no complaints. The only (small) negative was that they did not have espresso, which I usually get after a meal at this type of a restaurant. Overall, this is ties or beats the best meal that I have had in a restaurant. I will cease every chance to visit again!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMsuperb diningHeidi's never disappoints. Went early on a Thursday night. We were seated immediately by the friendly host/sommelier. We enjoyed the seven course tasting menu with the wine tour to accompany. As each course arrived, the plate and wine were explained to us briefly and succinctly. One course was better than the next. From the popcorn lobster to the mushroom risotto. .. Absolute perfection! We ended the evening with Heidi's famous donut. A delicious end to an outstanding evening. Woodman has a great establishment with innovative yet relatable food. Will be visiting again and recommending without hesitation.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMI went early to try out theI went early to try out the Prix Fix and was not dissapointed! The salad was delicious, the braised lamb chops had been braised for 18 hours and the meat literally fell off the bone and was amazing.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMCreatively prepared and deliciousCreatively prepared and delicious food, and excellent service. What's not to like?3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is what tasting menusThis is what tasting menus were made for...so many fabulous things on the menu we couldn't decide. The selections made by the chef were great and the meal was incredibly imaginative and delicious. Fairly small portions--as one would expect from a 7-course tasting menu--but very satisfying.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat, with room for improvementWe really liked almost everything about our experience. We ordered their 7 course tasting menu...which I highly recommend. Our only complaint was that 2 or 3 of the dishes were a little too salty in our opinion. But the flavors and combinations and imaginations were truly a delight. The service was great at first, but then we actually felt ignored about halfway through the dinner. There could have been a little better timing between courses...and I could have been offered a drink/refill more often than I was.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFood excellent, artful presentationFood excellent, artful presentation. Nice special touches, "compliments of the chef". Portion sizes smaller than expected for the cost, one of my party described as "exorbitant" for the petit filet he ordered.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was great (as alwaysFood was great (as always at this place). The service was much poorer than on previous dining occasions here, and a disappointment.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAmbrosia of the gods!!!Absolutely top-notch. Chad, our server new every dish and beverage served. The food was ambrosia the gods would love. And the dessert, well don't get me started. Wow! Kudos!
Bob H3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe seven course tasting menuThe seven course tasting menu was great. I ordered it with the wine pairings and that made it extra fun.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFeast for the eyes and theFeast for the eyes and the palate.... so beautiful presentation and delicious. As for the wine outstanding. Did I say that I love Heidi's restaurant!3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMMecca for foodiesThis is the place if you're looking for interesting, innovative, and just plain delicious food. Heidi's never disappoints. The latest menu gem: popcorn lobster, and no, banish all thoughts of those overcooked, breaded lumps from the seafood chain. Yum!3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMI have been to Heidi's severalI have been to Heidi's several times now and have been very impressed. The layout is very nice with a small and excellent bar just to the right as you walk in, the hostess desk just in front and the glss walled kitchen just behind. The chef/owner is almost always very visible in the kitchen, usually putting the finishing touches on each plate before it is served. The menu is brief, but excellent and they always seem to have excellent wines at fair prices. This place is definitely one of my favorites in the Twin Cities for excellent food, very good service, in a nice, relatively quiet and elegant atmosphere. At the same time, it maintains a casual, comfortable and neighborhood feel.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, excellentExcellent food, excellent service, excellent wine list, phenomenal cocktails -- a unique dining experience. Get there today, you'll be glad you did.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAn excellent option for visitorsAn excellent option for visitors and natives!
Unique, very good food, and excellent service!3/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThe bestTasting menu was amazing. Can't wait to do the chef's table! My favorite restaurant in the Twin Cities.3/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
