In keeping with our passion and commitment to celebrating the authentic Mexican kitchen, Hecho en Dumbo is pleased to debut a new feature of our restaurant, the Chef's Table.

Emphasizing fresh seafood and local game prepared in some of the most cherished traditions of Mexico, Hecho en… Dumbo is pleased to offer a five-course tasting menu with optional pairing. The $55 Prix Fixe is available by online reservation only for parties no greater than two and is served exclusively at the bar overlooking the restaurant's open kitchen.

As there are no substitutions for the Prix Fixe, please refer to our website should you have any allergy concerns or dietary constraints prior to booking.

Reservations are accepted for the Chef’s Table Prix Fixe only. Seating for the main dining room is available only on a first come, first served basis. Continued

"We sat at the Chef's table (I couldn't find any other option for making a reservation in OpenTable), and I have to say it was a great experience. The food we were served was absolutely delicious, with one course after another blowing our minds. The margaritas were excellent and the service matched the rest of the experience. Also, it was great to be able to see all kinds of dishes flying out of the kitchen that we did not sample, assuring that we will be scheduling a return visit soon."

"I have to say that Hecho en Dumbo was pretty amazing! They say that you have 5 courses for the prix fixe, but they give you so much more. Me and my boyfriend counted and we had 10 courses!!! I loved EVERYTHING except for the lobster and black-eyed peas. My boyfriend really liked it, but it wasn't a flavor combo that worked for me. Though the plates are small, the food is filling. You'll leave feeling very satisfied. It's also nice watching the chef's as they prepared our meals as well as everyone else's. And the price can't be beaten!"

"My wife and I sat at the back counter or "Chef's Table" watching the cooks and had the Chef's tasting menu. The menu consists of 5 courses but ended up at 8 with the extras; you have no choice. It's suggested you review the regular menu to get an idea of their food before booking. A number of the dishes are offered on the regular menu. For NYC, $55 for that type of tasting seemed to be very good value, considering lobster was included in our tasting.

The service was very casual but professional. Not being a linen and silverware kind of place you shouldn't expect that.

How was the food? Delicious; every course I could have eaten more of, had there not been more to come.

Well worth a visit!"

"Found them through opentable and I love me some tasting menus. But not usually mexican. This was a really great experience. sat at the chef's table which is a 10-seat bar in the back. promised 5 courses, probably brought about 9 and it was ridiculously cheap for that kind of meal. $55. highly recommend."

"One of the best prix fixe meals I've had, especially for the price. Some of the dishes were off of the menu, and they were fantastic. The dishes that didn't appear on the menu were amazing. And the chef's treats that were served between courses made it even better. I'm looking forward to returning so I can see what else Chef Mena and his crew create."

"The fixed menu was broad and plentiful. What was marked as a 5 course meal works out to be 9 with all the amuse bouche and palate cleansers. The serving sizes were ample and strayed from the mexican stereotypical cuisine. The standout dishes were the rich Mushroom soup paired with sweet scallops and fried onions as well as the tuna cerviche. The only low points were the dessert which was a little underwhelming and the tequila centric cocktail list. But all in all great value for money."

"The prix fixe was an outstanding meal and dining experience. I wasn't sure what to expect and this was a celebration meal, but it turned out perfect. Though it's a casual place, the food was top notch. Great presentation, artful and delicious. The service was prompt and I never waited very long for my margaritas. The additional dishes they provide between courses were a nice and tasty surprise. Though it sounds like a lot of food, which it is, the portions are small enough that you don't feel overly full at the end. Esp. considering the price, I think this is one of the best meals in the city."

"the food and service was excellent, although i was reluctant to enter when i saw the Dept. of Health had given them a B when we arrived. we sat at the chefs table and i do recall seeing some flys, not sure if my date did, i didnt want to bring it up!"

"If you see a 5 course prefix menu w/an amount of $55, you dont expect much out of it and that's because in hecho en dumbo you will expect so much more. If you're a foody on a budget, this is the place to go to hangout, have fun and enjoy what you eat. We got more than 5 courses! we had 2 additional drinks, 1 tamarind &1 hibiscus (it wasnt on the menu). On top of that we had 4 extra courses. The apple, and sage sorbet (granatine?) was amazing! Their plates were simple and delicious. It made me feel like I was eating home cooked meals where you could actually see the food being done and getting sent out. Their service was amazing! The kitchen staff seemed very connected. The plates were sent out just in time for you to take in the next dish."
