A word from Heavy Seas Alehouse
Heavy Seas Alehouse is a place where sailors tell stories but pyrates make legends! It is high time fans of Heavy Seas Beer are able to experience Baltimore’s best and locally owned craft brewery in its own ship. Our menu features fresh and seasonal ingredients that we source locally whenever possible. The dishes are simple in appearance with bold and assertive flavors that stand up to the intense beers we are known for…ARRRRGGGHHHH! The Alehouse is located in the Tack Factory building and combines the charm and character of the historic space with the bold industrial elements reminiscent of the Holland Tack Factory that occupied the building for more than 90 years.

My husband and I have been beer tasting for over five years now and both agree that the beer at Heavy Seas Alehouse was the best we've come across anywhere. With two flights we tasted everything they had on tap and enjoyed them ALL. The disappointment came from our server, as she insulted our friend in the first minute of our visit. We had invited a couple to come and try beer tasting for the first time. Since they weren't sure how to describe what they liked, the server asked them what they usually drink and then replied to them with a laugh and a rude comment. Surely, there could be a more professional and friendly way to help them out. To make matters worse, she referred back to her "joke" again later in the evening which just made things awkward. The service was also a bit slow, as others have mentioned. Overall, it is a cool-looking place with great beer, but next time I'll try the Heavy Seas Tap Room in Halethorp, MD.

Awesome food, beer and atmosphere! We tried the crab dip, fried chicken sandwich and fish/chips. All delicious! We already were fans of the beer before we came so we were excited to try out the alehouse and food they had to offer. We were not disappointed and we will return! We had a very funny and entertaining waiter... totally blanking on his name but he made the experience that much better!

The alehouse is a dependable and solid place to get bar food for a not unreasonable price. The pork nachos were delicious and the portabella mushroom burger was tasty, with a tart taste from the mushroom marinating in a sauce. The beer is the real reason to go though - flights are a good way to try things, and the winter storm ESB is a real winner.

We had a Living Social coupon to use which included a flight of beer, an appetizer, and an empty growler. The app was good (fried chicken wings) but we were disappointed with the selection of beer. They were out of a couple of beers so we were limited to what you could choose. Our friends also had a coupon but they only allow one per table. The food was mediocre. It took forever for the food to arrive. Our server was okay and she got us what we needed. When we were finished, the server then notified us that they were out of growlers and that we needed to come back to get it. So now we have to return to get the growler. They knew about being out because they had vouchers printed out. We won't be back. Just to get our growler.

I've been to the brewery for a tour. I saw the living social deal and looked at the food menu online with my wife and we thought it sounded like a great place to go. We were right! We got our flights of beer and appetizer and proceeded with a couple of more appetizers/small plates and were stuffed. I'd highly recommend the nachos, and trying the seasonal pumpkin ale. The beer is so fresh and the food is definitely very good.

We tried the fish and chips, onion rings, crab-dip tater tots, and crab cake, accompanied by the seasonal cask conditioned ales. The food was well-prepared but our choices tended toward fried items which were all pretty similar. I'm wishing I had ordered one of the "signature" dishes. The beer was great. With a little more variety added to the menu, this place could really blossom.

We live nearby but had given up on this place long ago because of limited food choices and terrible service. They've changed the menu since then so we gave it another try. The service experience continues to disappoint. This was the worst service we've had anywhere in a long time. The waitress let us sit for a maybe ten minutes then came by and asked if we were ready to order everything (we hadn't even ordered drinks yet) "so she could get us in and out of here"! After we ordered we never really saw her again...we were all out of drinks for quite some time. This IS an alehouse. You might expect them to keep the ale coming. Or maybe stop by to see if we needed anything. Did not happen. Food was better than before but we won't go back.

I have been to Heavy Seas several times before. We had the crab dip poutine, which was made with tater tots instead of fries. Delicious. I also had the Cuban sandwich for the first time. It was also great - the sriracha really adds a special kick. I took half of it home, and it was good reheated too. The service has always been very attentive and smart.

Went on a date with a couple after going there one Sunday afternoon. The beer list is good with many Heavy Seas beers to choose from in addition to many "beer cocktails." The menu is mostly bar food, but it is very good bar food and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is unique and full of character. After dinner, we made our way to the bar and enjoyed some more beverages and the baseball game. Very nice place.

Service was good from wait staff, good beers, and food was good when it finally arrived. The kitchen was quite slow and we weren't the only table that appeared to be feeling that. We were a party of 7, so I don't expect it to be an immediate turnaround, but it took >1 hour from when we placed our ordered and 5/7 of the party got a sandwich or burger.

I already enjoy Heavy Seas beer, and the alehouse did not let us down. The food was very delicious, especially the pulled pork poutine. My only downer was that the chef seems to be obsessed with fennel, as a majority of the dishes involved fennel in some form. I would still recommend this for dinner and a couple drinks.

We had dinner with friends in the restaurant near Little Italy. They just released their Greater Pumpkin Ale which was phenomenal. Service was poor and unfortunately our waitress just did not pay us much attention. We would have ordered more beers if she checked in more often. Some of the other servers were very attentive and picked up the slack. Food was great, try the caramel old bay popcorn, you will not be disappointed.

Always loved this place - we were there for its opening night - but this visit was really disappointing. Limited Monday menu wasn't noted on opentable, so a special dinner with mom turned into just oysters & apps - and waited almost an hour for those in a mostly empty bar. Friendly server, slow kitchen. It's good for what it is, but don't make our mistake of giving up reservations at Woodberry Kitchen or Brewers Art & thinking that this is in the same league.

The beer cocktails are delicious. Had a pretty good meat and cheese plate. My husband loved his burger. I had the scallops meal, which was ok although a little over-salted. That's probably what I get for ordering fancier food in an alehouse though--seems like the more casual bar-type food is better. Service was great. Had a delicious beer float for dessert, which they specially concocted for me from ingredients from two other desserts. Restaurant is decorated well with a really cool courtyard with games and picnic tables. We will return, although I'll order differently next time.

I came here for my birthday with 9 other people and had a great time! The food was pretty good, the only issue we had was that the bacon was forgotten on two of our burgers. The service was mediocre, the restaurant was basically empty yet our server would go missing for long periods of time. Heavy Seas is very convenient to where we live, and it is consistently good. We loved the duck poutine last time we were there, and were kind of sad that it wasn't on the menu any more, but we got the BBQ pork poutine, and it was also very good. For an entree I had salt roasted salmon; it's a very solid dish, with potatoes and asparagus and mini-squashes to accompany the fish. My friends both had burgers, and really enjoyed them. It was pretty busy, but not too overcrowded, and the waitstaff was very good.

I must say I was impressed from the start. First, management did a great job in fitting my group of 15 in without restrictions on my group is too small nor too big. Booking parties that size can be challenging in Baltimore. The food was delicious. Kobe burger was great. Service - just ok! Waitress's was a bit spacey. Nice girl though.
